Question 5
I woke up in the morning and my glands & ubilla was swollen and my throat was almost closed in!!!?...  I could still breath (Thank God!) But barely through my mouth but I could breath through my nose. I gargeled with listerine and brushed and gargeled again and again and then drank some hot coffee then it went back to normal. Could it have been an allergic reaction to something?

1)   You need to get to the bottom of this with help from a doctor. Next time you may not be so lucky. Are you taking any medications that have warning labels about allergic reactions? Check, and if so, DO NOT take that medication again until you see a doctor. (By the way, the word is "uvula.") - Dance

my 18 year old girlfriend of two years is pregnant and has cancer and is going to refuse treatment?

Question 1
my 18 year old girlfriend of two years is pregnant and has cancer and is going to refuse treatment?...  my 18 year old girlfriend of two years has lymphoma. She is at 8 weeks in her pregnancy, we just found out on Monday. She is going to refuse treatment throughout the pregnancy because she says she does not wont to harm the baby, I am more worried about her though. I do not wont to lose her a baby can always happen but if something happens to her I will be lost. What can me, mine and her family, and our friends do to convince her that this is not a good idea. She has always been so stubborn but I do not see this being a good idea at all. She could lose her life. A baby can always happen again. I want the child don't get me wrong but her life is super important to me to especially since a child can happen again.

Answers
1)   it,s her call. she isn,t too worried about you, tho'. - David

2)   Its her own personal decision do be treated or to refuse the treatment. If you try to sway her in any direction she might end up resenting you for anything that happens as a result of that decision. Let her know that you will be there for her supporting her in what she decides to do. - Cassidy

3)   Colon cleaning is the latest technique to reduce weight. Scientists have illustrated the fact that not all additional weight is thanks to additional fat, a lot of weight basically lies there in your insides, and all you need to do is rinse it out. http://wagult.freehealthonline.info has a risk free trial on right now, give it a go, you could reduce up to 20 lbs! - Braiden

4)   there's a house episode like this. Tell her there is a good chance she could lose the baby anyway since her health is not going to be good. She should get the treatment first, then work on a new baby. - Julia

5)   That's a really tough situation to be in. Honestly, I would let her choose what she wants to do, because it's her body, her life, and her decision. She can always wait until after having the baby to get treatment. But if she gets the treatment now while she is pregnant, it can lead to birth defects and other health problems in the baby. It's her decision, so you have to think about why you should influence it or not. I really hope that everything turns out okay with your situation. - lcwoahh

6)   I don't know how to help you as it is her body.. However there are some alternative therapies out there which have healed cancer before if she is adamant about not getting the normal treatment. for example, kinesiology? talk to her about this and the options and how you feel. i do not know what else to say... good luck, I really hope she is saved! - Lirael

Question 2
Is it common for a cold sore to spread all over face, ears and shoulders?...  The ointment I was using is for impetigo, because I thought it odd that it was spreading so quickly, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I also have prescription ointment for cold sores as well.
My 8 yr old developed a cold sore on her nose this past weekend. It has since spread over both sides of her face, both ears and to one shoulder. I realize it can spread, but this happened within 4 days while using medication/ointment. Any thoughts?
She washes her hands consistently after touching any part of her body, using the restroom, before eating etc. Hence my concern that it's spreading so quickly.
she has not had a fever and said the sores don't itch
and she has had the chicken pox vaccine

Answers
1)   see a doc. it,s a viral infection. - David

2)   Cold sores usually do not spread. You might go to WebMd.com and type in impetigo and read up on this condition which would be my suspicion of what she has since it is spreading. It will need prescription medication to clear this up. - J B

3)   No, it is not common for a cold sore, Herpes simplex 2 to spread. It is usually confined to mucus membranes, cold sores on the lips or believed to be canker sores. For these sores to have spread to these other areas, you need to take your child to see the doctor. It sounds like chicken pox to me, fluid filled pockets that usually itch, preceeded by a fever. In extremely rare cases, if your child has already had chicken pox, shingles is the same virus that spreads and is attacks the nerve endings and is painful to the patient. Either way, your doctor needs to see your child for a proper diagnosis. - Cha Chi

4)   You should take your child to the emergency room to be checked out by a doctor.
Your child might have spreading the virus to other places on the body by touching the infection. The fingers, eyes, and other body areas can accidentally become infected in this way. Preventing self-infection is simple. Do not touch the area during an outbreak. If you do, wash your hands as soon as possible with soap and warm water. This will help prevent the virus from spreading further. - Cassidy

Question 4
Do I have the chicken pox [please read details]?...  Hi, I'm 14 years old and never have had the chickenpox. I got vaccinated when I was really little. I was supposed to get another vaccination last year and I never did.

A few weeks ago, (maybe like two or two and a half), chest was really itchy. And there has been a rash there ever since. One morning, I woke up and my upper back was really itchy. A 2 days ago, my neck started to get itchy and there is a rash there on the side. Also, my lower back got itch and there is a rash there and my chin became itchy as well.

My forehead and scalp was so itchy during the evening yesterday I couldn't stand it!

Also, I woke up in the middle of the night and I was scratching myself subconciously!!

I don't know if it's the chickenpox because they aren't little dots, it just a bumpy / blotchy rash.

Do I have the chickenpox? If I don't, what do I have? Should I go to the doctor?

Thank you!

Answers
1)   You could be having an allergic reaction to some food, product, soap, medication. Taking some Benadryl regularly until the rash goes away will get rid of the itching. Chicken pox is a red sore with a fluid-filled vesicle in the middle of it which then breaks open and makes a crusty scab. This does not sound like chicken pox. - J B

2)   no doesnt sound like chicken pox, they come up as blisters and come up within a week and also start as a blister and turn into scabs within a day or two,by now you would be covered in spots that had scabbed and were falling off - dumplingmuffin

3)   I agree with JB. I sounds like an allergic reaction to something. Did you change soap, lotion or laundry detergent lately? - mardaw

Uncontrollable shaking...?

Question 1
Uncontrollable shaking...?...  I'm an imbecile in the health category and I need to know if what I have is common... deadly... unheard of...?? So I'd like you to fill me in, if you can.

For awhile now, I've been shaking (almost like shivering) uncontrollably. I first noticed it after I ate a cup of ice cream and started shaking insanely, so hard my teeth chattered loudly. I figured it was just because of the cold but I had a warm jacket on and wasn't cold at all. Then a few weeks ago I'd bought an energy drink (sugar-free Redbull, FYI) and started shaking again. Ever since then, when I consume too much... sugar, I suppose, I start the shaking. And tonight I got very angry and upset and started shaking just as badly. Please help. I would like EDUCATED answers, or atleast answers with some insight. Give me something to look up and I will.
Thanks for the herpes thing. That was really mature and educated. Anyways, I thought that my body was shaking because it had so much energy and was using it however it could. I didn't think about the hyper thing... but I'm wondering about the angry thing...

Question 3
What could cause these symptoms?...  Hiya

I have been experiencing periods of headaches for about 4 years now, and the gaps between these periods are decreasing. I often feel sick at night, and have had a few dizzy spells, where I suddenly feel really sick and it feels as though I might faint. I also have problems with my arms and hands at night, they often fall asleep or feel tingly and numb. Also, I have been sleeping very badly, mainly because I get myself into a right state, because i'm so worried! I have visited my JP, been to physiotherapy and a neurologist, who said he didn't think there is anything wrong. I'm 16 and just really really worried, whoever I tell thinks i've got a mental issue and am getting these symptoms because I am so worried. I seem to have convinced myself I have a brain tumor and they think this is making me get the symptoms. Are there any mental illnesses that can cause symptoms because of fear? Or is there anything else that causes these symptoms?

Please please please help, I'm very scared and I would appreciate any views on this!

Answers
1)   Anxiety can cause these symptoms and there are medications to control anxiety. You might consider trying some. Your family doctor could prescribe this for you. And when having a headache, taking some motrin at the onset and lying in a quiet, dark room can often stop the headache. Why on earth would you jump to a brain tumor conclusion just for a headache? Many females have headaches, especially close to their time of their period. This is normal. Headaches are often a way of life for many, many people and is not caused by anything serious. - J B

"someone whose immune system is compromised" - would having an eating disorder count as that?

Question 1
"someone whose immune system is compromised" - would having an eating disorder count as that?...

Answers
1)   yes. if you have an eating disorder, most likely you aren't getting the nutrients you need for which your immune system is trying to overcompensate. - just curious

2)   They are unrelated.

A compromised immune system means you are more likely to catch a cold or a flu or bacterial infection etc. A compromised immune system is something people have with for example HIV or a cancer patient.

An eating disorder is a psychological issue. Or an issue due to a deficiency such as people who are iron deficient and crave the taste of dirt. Eating disorders are conditions that cause a person to spend most of their waking hours thinking and obsessing about food, weight, calories, and/or body image. These obsessions may cause them to binge eat, starve themselves, or binge and purge.

An eating disorder can have many side effects - Heart disease, poor circulation, shortness of breath and you can become imunocomprised due to lack of nutrition but it is a secondary cause to the primary issue.

The issues themselves are different. Having a earache with a cold is a separate issue to the cold. Having sniffles with a cold is part of the cold. - me

3)   most probably not. Eating disorders are mostly psychological and that is a long ways away from an immune system that's compromised. - 420 circle

4)   Absolutely. Severe malnutrition can cause immunosuppression. - Buddha

5)   Absolutely!! If you don't take in or keep down food, you don't have the vitamins and nutrients needed for a strong, healthy immune system! Trust me, been there and caught everything within a 5 mile radius! - mdfoxy03

6)   i think anorexia do that - Name Not Found

7)   No. An eating disorder might WORSEN a compromised immune system, but it wouldn't actually CAUSE it... So they are two separate things. - Joseph the Second

do you think i have diabetes? please help! :(?...  okay so I was wondering if i might have diabetes because i've been drinking tonssss of water lately and i never seem to NOT be thirsty? and i also have to go to the bathroom like, 10 times a day but i'm guessing its from all the water i'm drinking. I don't have any of the other symptoms of diabetes, so what do you think this is? Is it normal or something?pleasee answer i'm really starting to get scared :(

Answers
1)   talk to your parents about it :)
maybe u can get a check up..

p.s...i heart justin bieber too! :D - Mrs.Justin Bieber <3 :]

2)   It doesn't sound like you have diabetes to me. I mean if your legs become numb for no reason.
If you don't have these symptoms Excessive thirst and appetite
Increased urination (sometimes as often as every hour)
Unusual weight loss or gain
Fatigue
Nausea, perhaps vomiting
Blurred vision
Then you are fine. Quit stressing and having aniexty about it :)
continue drinking 2 liters of water a day only. Not fast, but slowly during the day and to avoid diabetes, don't eat that much suguar, nor fat. But sugar is a big 1. Just take care of your body you will be ok :) god less ya happy new year! - Blackprincess011

3)   Check your sugar level is the best way. Don't guess - SM Hassan

4)   It would be better for you to go to your doctor with your questions. S/he will be able to diagnose whether or not you are diabetic. It could be something else. But since this is not normal, please get it checked out. You will feel better knowing rather than guessing. - Teacher's Pet

Question 3
Does it matter what toothpaste you use for acne?...  People are always telling me that toothpaste helps clear away acne, is this true?
(This question is gunna sound stupid) But if so, does it matter what toothpaste you use?
(like colgate or aquafresh? lol)
I have some acne on my cheeks and I really want to get rid of it, and I'm planning on trying the tootopaste method but idk if it really works?

Answers
1)   No, it doesn't clear up acne. The one thing it will do is make your skin red; its irritating. - Nurse For 20 Years

2)   use the white paste kind not the gel
i can work depending on what type of skin you have.
It should only be used on spots and not on a big area, because the toothpaste will dry your skin.
that's the point of the toothpaste to dry the pimple. - jem

3)   forget get it toothpaste.
lower your intake of salt,i.e packet of chip's has alot of salt.
also use clearasil acne treatment, and do not use soap that has alcohol and perfume in it,
(velvet soap is great) do not use makeup that has perfume and acohol in it as that is a major cause of acne for women.go girlfriend :) - Akurane

4)   its supposed to "dry out" the whitehead pimples. i am assuming they mean the white paste toothpastes, which have a lot of baking soda in them. you could try making a paste with water and baking soda, it would work just the same. i dont think gel would do anything for you.

definitely try using acne treatments, anything with sacilyic acid ( i dont think i spelled that right), proactiv, clearasil, etc. - Erin

Does proactiv acne product really work?...

Answers
1)   It seems to work for most people. Also, you must use all 2 or 3 (depending on which kind) or not. They work amazing together but not too well separate. I use it.
But I must admit that I have to use a hand soap and THEN proactive for it to work well. - Mary A

2)   i guess it depends on your type of skin. It didn'tk for me. - jem

3)   it works for some, but it didnt work for me..ive tried it a lot of times. but i used differin..it really worked for me, i never gained fully cleared skin, but it gave a huge improvement..i recommend it. - Kristin

1)   i went to a doctor one time for my acne, they gave me two products to used..i forgot the name for the first, but the 2nd was differin, it really helped. its not fully clear till this day, but it seriously made a huge improvement. - Kristin

2)   You may want to ask you doctor of Retin-A. I develop acne after age 35. This seems to work for me. - ladymistic

3)   I did some research and talked to my doctor to find the most common causes of acne.

• Hormones: The number one cause of acne is the production of sex hormones, known as androgen, that begins at puberty. This is why majority of acne sufferers are adolescents and teens. Hormones are responsible for then acne flare-ups during menstruation and pregnancy.

• When the sebaceous gland is stimulated by androgens, it produces extra sebum. In its journey up the follicle toward the surface, the sebum mixes with common skin bacteria and dead skin cells that have been shed from the lining of the follicle. While this process is normal, the presence of extra sebum in the follicle increases the chances of clogging — and acne.

• Stress: can also cause the production of hormones, such as cortisol, which can aggravate acne. Stress brings upon different hormone levels. With hormone changes the body prompts the skins oil glands to enlarge, secreting more oil. Which causes white heads, black heads and pimples.

• Oily or heavy make up: Heavy make-up clogs the pores and oily make-ups add more oil, which only adds to the problem if oily skin already exists. Cosmetics, especially certain moisturizers, foundations and pomades contain lanolin, petrolatum, vegetable oils, butyl stearate, lauryl alcohol and oleic acid.

• Certain medications and steroids: Vitamins are good for your body, But an excess of vitamins B1, B6 and B12 can cause acne flare-ups. These vitamins are good for the skin, but avoid overuse.

• Diets: For some people, a diet that is high in refined carbohydrates and sugars can actually aggravate their acne.

• Over abrasive cleansing: Harsh exfoliators can damage skin and spread infections.

• Picking and squeezing: This can actually send the infection deeper into the skin and can cause scarring.

• Environmental irritants: such as high humidity and pollution. High humidity actually causes swelling of skin. Pollution is of course is a big cause for clogging your pores.

• Genes: Family members who are also acne sufferers. Acne is inherited and severe cases known as cystic acne usually come from heredity.

And..,

What the skin needs is a product that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into acne. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those ugly acne.

Before trying any treatment, I suggest you read this informational source that listed the most effective acne treatments available:

Question 2
What's the rationale for the Elderly NOT being Primary Recipients of the H1N1 Flu Shot?...  .
First -- it was Children who were the Primaries.
Now -- it's everyone up to Age 49(??)

My Grandmother is 86, yet she cannot get the Vaccine...

In past years -- The Elderly were Primaries, because they would have a tougher time fighting the Virus, right ?

MQ2 -- Is their a Link that explains this ?

thank you.
.

Answers
1)   This flu for some reason attacks a younger group of people 25-35 yr range and pregnant women. Of course anyone with underlying problems can get a flu shot from their doctor...there is plenty of vaccine available. - Veritas

2)   The swine flu isn't new....It was around in the 1950s, and so they say that anyone born before 1957 or so probably has built up an immunity toward the swine flu, as they have already been exposed.
So chances are, if they are exposed to the swine flu now, they will have the immunity to fight it off.
Not guaranteed they won't get it, but it seems less dangerous for them. - mrs_rosene

3)   Exposure to the virus in their youth makes their resistence sufficient to put them in a lower category. The seasonal flu shot and the pnuemonia vaccine are still called for.

Try CDC.gov for a more complete explanation; they now reccommend the shot if there is local supply. All the high risk that want the shot have gotten it.

Try the county health department. - dis_orient_ed

4)   the elderley ie your grandmother are one of the last categories to be vaccinated unless she has a chronic dsease ie- one of the following asthma diabetes, copd, immunosuppressed. Children were only primaries if they also had one of the disease listed above my daughter had it as she has asthm but my son was not elegible as he didnt have a chronic illness, - theoriginalbookworm

5)   The reason is....There was a similar virus one year ( I don't remember the year) way back. They are assumed/guessed by the CDC to have a probable immunity to the current strain so if one is older than 49 then the CDC is classifying them as second tier. - alt.healer

6)   The answer is "heterosubtypic immunity." What that means is that each time a person is exposed to any type of flu, it triggers an immune response to it - this happens even if the person does not actually get sick, because it's also possible to be exposed and to fight it off.

People who are quite old have had many exposures over decades and decades of living, so that they are likely to already be carrying antibodies to the H1 and N1 subtypes. Those who are younger have not had exposure, so they have very little immunity. People who have been vaccinated by injection (flu shots) have immunity only temporarily, and only for the specific subtype that's going around.

Shots wear off in a matter of months, which is why you would have to take one every year. And sometimes, the particular subtype chosen for production turns out to be the wrong one, then the population at large gets vaccinated against a disease that never arrives, yet ends up highly vulnerable to the one that spread instead.

Those who have been vaccinated every year against every version of seasonal flu are the most vulnerable to a sudden development of a novel subtype - so in this case, young children whose parents vaccinate every year are the most at risk. The children who have never been vaccinated are more like the old people because their immune systems have been challenged so they are less likely to have a serious case of H1N1 or any other flu.

I do not vaccinate my children for any type of flu. - yellobrix

Question 4
Can second hand smoke cause voice loss?...  The last few days I have had a hard time talking. It is fine when I whisper, but when I speak normal My voice is horse, cracks often, and squeaks. I had a 99.3 fever a few days ago but I got it to go away within a few hours. Then I had a soar throat for the rest of the day. The soar throat and fever were gone by the next day and I have had a hard time breathing the last couple days. It's a mixture of mucus and sinuses.
My parents both smoke and I've been away at school until 2 weeks ago. They smoke inside and refuse to open windows. I've asked them to open a window but it's cold outside and "they aren't going to heat the whole outdoors" and they don't smoke outside because "this is their house". I am not trying to say my parents are wrong or anything I am just wondering if their smoking can be what is making me lose my voice or if it's something else.
And if you could suggest any home remedies for my voice, that would be appreciated.

Answers
1)   Colon cleaning is the latest way to reduce weight. 2)   no...second hand smoke does not have a bearing on your voice loss....get over it.....the best thing for throat ailments (aside a visit to a doctor) is black licorice....the natural compound of anise(?)...spelling.....are soothing to your throat...killer for tonsilitis..... - MsRattlehead \o/

3)   There are chances that second hand smoking can aggravate your condition but unlikely to cause hoarseness of voice. Following is my answer to a similar question two months ago.
Earlier You had inflammation of upper throat that's Pharynx...Pharyngitis. now the infection which caused inflammation traveled downwards to involve the voice box or Larynx, a condition called Laryngitis. You are having inflammation of the Larynx. most common cause is viral infection and fortunately self limited. you need to take motrin, don't talk too much and too loud.
Laryngitis is an inflammation of the larynx. It causes hoarse voice or the complete loss of the voice because of irritation to the vocal folds (vocal cords). Dysphonia is the medical term for Laryngitis and other vocal disorders.
Laryngitis is categorized as acute if it lasts less than a few days.[1] Otherwise it is categorized as chronic, and may last over 3 weeks.
Causes:
viral infection
bacterial or fungal infection
inflammation due to overuse of the vocal cords
excessive coughing, smoking, or alcohol consumption [edit] Symptoms
Symptoms of laryngitis can vary, depending on the severity and also the cause. The most common, and obvious, symptom is impaired speech, ranging from a raspy hoarseness to the total loss of ability to speak, except at a whisper. Other symptoms can include:

Dry, sore throat
Coughing, which can be a symptom of, or a factor in causing laryngitis;
Difficulty swallowing ;
Sensation of swelling in the area of the larynx;
Cold or flu-like symptoms (which, like a cough, may also be the causing factor for laryngitis)
Swollen lymph glands in the throat, chest, or face;
Fever
Difficulty breathing (mostly in children)
Difficulty eating - Imtiaz

Question 2
Reoccuring cold sores?...  Hello.

I recently got a cold sore outbreak in the middle of November after having a horrible bout of strep. I had never had a cold sore before then. Yes, I know that that means I've probably had the virus forever. However, today I noticed that I have another little cluster of clear looking "pimples" on my lip. They're in the exact same place as last time.

What causes cold sore outbreaks?
I got my period today and I have been stressing a lot about paying for school. Could this be the cause?
Also, I put Abreeva on it ASAP, any other suggestions as to how to clear them up/ make them occur less?

Thank you.

Answers
1)   its a result of ur white blood cells attack your body, canker sores, brought about by all of your stress, stress als olowers your WBC (white blood count) so you are more prone to getting sick.

gurggle some warm water w/ salt. - david_the_LB_stud_54

2)   Stress is the most common cause of a break out.

There are also pills that you can take that will help. Valtrex and acyclovir. You will need a prescription.

These pills can shorten an outbreak. They can also prevent future outbreaks. Some patients find that if they take them as soon as they feel the tingle of a cold sore, they will prevent the sore from erupting at all. Some patients choose to take these pills daily, as a prophylactic.

Make an appointment with your regular family doctor. She should be able to help you out.

Until then, use the Abreeva, do some yoga and take some zinc. - alanastarkey

3)   Herpes simplex type 1 (cold sores) are commonly borough on by stress, lower immune system (like when you have another infection) and UV exposure. If you catch it at the early stage then taking single dose of Valtrex or applying anti viral cream (like acyclovor etc) can cut the episode short. Once established it doesn't matter what you use they will heal in 10 days - Stephen

Question 4
Is it normal for blurred vision with pink eye?...  My husband found out yesterday that he has pink eye. The doctor says that it is a severe cause of it. When he went it he had: shooting pain in his eye, pussing, severe redness, and he could barely open his eye.

Now, it's gotten better, but his eye is really blurry. He is worried about this. We are thinking it's because of the medication, which is a thick lubricant and perhaps the mucus puss in his eye.

Is this normal? How long will it last?

Question 3
how do you get clear skin? no blackheads or pimples!?...  im 13 and i have really bad black heads, and a few pimples.
the blackheads are more the problem but i was wondering how do you get such nice clear looking skin like all the models on magazines. well if you guys have any easy, quick ideaS THat would be fantabulos!
please and thanks
Hello and bye.
Hannah is out! x

Answers
1)   Try using Clean n Clear. It really helped on me. There is the black head eraser.
And just so you know. You shouldn't try to be like the girls on the magazines. Those girls aren't even real. They are fake. They don't really look like that. Try being yourself and not something that's made up.!(:
Hope I helped.!(: - Skiddy:)and Meezy(:

2)   well the models in magazines are all air brushed. no one is that perfect <3 i went threw that too. my skin is real clear now. i didnt wear make up for a few days so my skin wasnt oily and my pores werent clogged. avoid concealer/ liquid coverup. wear reallly light makeup so your skin can breath, and youll look good without it being cakey or bad for your skin. use face washes like biores pore unclogger, they make your skin soft and clean it for the most part. proactive helped alittle bit. but dont waste your money on it. for black heads there are black head removal masks you can place over your and around the sides of your nose, look in cvs or walmart. after a bad break id make sure there was nothing in the pimples and id use a face wash every night and morning for a week until i saw them going down, after that id just scrub my face every morning in the shower with a rough kinda scrubber, it makes your skin soft, removes dead tissue. and gives your skin a healthier glow, good luck <3 - Marissa

3)   first off models in magazines do not have that nice of skin they have airbrushing by a computer done but still to make your skin fabulous do this step everyday

1. wash any eye makup off with an eye makup remover. regular facial cleansers will not do the job.
2. wash your face twice a day with L'Oreal Paris Go 360 Deep Clean Facial wash. It comes with a mini scrublet and use it to scrub your face for 30 seconds.
3. Use st ives apricrot scrub blemish and black head control twice a week at night to exfoliate dead skin cells that clog pore and cause acne.
4. At night after your face is clean use a light oil free moisturizer like clean and clear dual action moisturizer and in the morning use a moisturizer with spf to protect skin from harmful uv rays that cause skin cancer and wrinkles like aveeno moisturizers with spf
5. use a spot treatment with 5% benzoil peroxide. clean and clear also make great spot treatments.

hope it helps its what i use - Brandy

4)   Okay, I had the same problem when i was 13! Actually, I still do..But it's gotten better. The blackheads that I have mostly concentrate around my nose.

First of all, you want to choose a daily face wash.

-Something that contains sacrilyc acid, or something of that sort to help out with acne+ black heads. You can try finding something that helps with both! (Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, Clinique, etc- pick the one that you think would work best for you. - talking with a consultant/dermatologist will help! )Wash your face daily, day and night.
-If you wear any make up, make sure you use have make-up remover. Make up cloggs up pores.
For blackheads, what i used was Biore Deep Cleansing Strips.

This right here -http://www.amazon.com/Biore-Perfect-Cleansing-Strips-strips/dp/B0009EILKS

you can use it on your nose, face, etc. It immediatly helped with my blackheads! Got rid of most, and reduced the appearence. If you use it regularly, it really helps eliminating the appeareance of them! (oh yeah, if you do decide to use them, make sure to cleanse and use hot water on skin before putting on the strips. hot water helps open up pores ! )

This + cleansing every day, really helps!
Best of Luck! ♥ - a bit away.

Question 4
My blood pressure is 147/114. Do I need to go to go to dr immediately?...  Or can I wait until the weekend is over?

Answers
1)   No you need to go now! Well, what are you waiting for? Turn the computer off and go! - Kevin

2)   No, take your BP several times during the next few days. Take a pill or 2 of Omega 3 oil also that will thin your blood down so you have a lower blood pressure. This will get you in a good range. - just the facts

3)   You can wait until the weekend is over. This blood pressure is not an emergency. Stage III hypertension (high blood pressure) is considered an emergency. In fact, blood pressure is not even considered high until the systolic B.P. (top number) is above 140.

The doctor will likely prescribe you one medication to take orally to lower your BP. The negative effects of hypertension are the long term effects that occur as a result of your heart working too hard for a long time. The goal is to lower it for the long-term. - Dave

4)   Well, no, because blood pressure is a changeable thing. In other words, it can be quite high at one time and then, if you take it again later, you'll find it's much lower at another time, so, no, you wouldn't run to the doctor or the emergency room just because you get one high reading one time.

Take it again and again all weekend long and write it all down and by Monday you'll see if it's consistently high or just average over several days, and then decide about seeing a doctor or not.

Good luck, and the link below is to a webpage about "Normal Blood Pressure"... - Drewkulele

4)   Snot is actually a biological compound consising of H20 and HCL. An enzyme from your lymphatic system called ribase combines the H20 and HCL to form H3OCL or snot. It is endless because you have alot of H20 and HCL in your body. - Tracy

What will happen if i take steroids?

Question 1
What will happen if i take steroids?...  Ive been debating for around 4 months now on weather to take steroids im sick of going the gym & working my ass off for small gains.Im thinking of taking anavar for a couple of months while not abusing it.What sort of side effects can i expect from taking it? Im 18 6 ft and 186 pounds dont drink or smoke & have a good immune system & no medical conditions.I dont want people answering this saying it will kill me and that nonsense because it cant kill you if you take it properly,I want someone who can tell me exactly what can happen when i take it properly. Thanks guys & happy christmas!

Answers
1)   Penis shrinks

Serious Acne

Liver Damages

Roid Rage

Balding

Stunted Growth

Cardiovascular Problems

and yes it will KILL U!

merry Christmas :]
Source(s):
http://www.steroid.com/side.php - -

2)   You will get a ton of acne(all over). Your penis will shrink(which sucks and is soo not worth it). You could possibly grow boobs. OOh and you could get too much testerone and you will be mad and violent all the time. - liquidluva13

3)   if you take it properly, you will get the gains you want quicker.

but you really have to be careful, the drug its-self isn't addictive, but the feeling is.

if you do too much steroids, your muscles will get to big for your heart to pump blood to so just watch what your doing.

i really advise against this.
steroids are all looks, sure mr universe looks ripped but show me how much he can actually lift...

theres a reason your not getting big really quick, your body doesn't want you to, you will get bigger when your body is ready to adapt. - Jozef R

4)   Your body will break down.

You will be surviving on medications in a wheelchair by the time you're in your 40's. - Eric

5)   im sorry but why ask that question side effects are:
smaller penis even if it is taken properly
out of control rage over small things
muscle build up
rash in some "AREAs"
will have a crappy immune system
loss of a girl friend no offense
true facts sorry there is no cheating without a down fall
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! - Mojo

6)   I guess if you are going to take an oral steroid.. which is never a great idea, then anavar is one of the least toxic. But it will give some of the least gains as well unless you take a large quantity of it. So I guess the question is if it is worth chancing the liver damage which is possible for minimal gains. In fact, anavar is not really particularly known for gains at all.

http://www.isteroids.com/steroids/Anavar-Oxandrolone.html - SethSpeaks

7)   Before you think about taking steroids, look it up on Web MD. They do not give answers to scare people. They give answers from scientific research.

You sound like you want only answers that agree with you. But you need truthful answers hat will give you both the upside and downside of taking anabolic steroids. There are all kinds of steroids for all kinds of purposes. I was prescribed steroids after eye surgery. They didn't give me big muscles. I took cortisone shots for a damaged knee. They helped the knee heal.

Some of the side effects of anabolic steroids which are used for muscle regrowth after surgeries and used by athletes to grow big muscles:

Acne on back, chest and face
Shrunken testicles
Increased risk of muscle strains because of excess muscle growth
Increased incidences of rage because of adrenaline charges

That is just the surface downsides. Brain damage and heart attacks are also associated with long-term use. Remember, the heart is a muscle. - Milton

Suffering from cold and nasal congestion..please help!!!!!?...  I'm suffering from cold for last 4 days. It started with runny nose and sneezing. Then I visited a doc and he prescribed me some cold tabs for 5 days. Then gradually it goes down. Now its only two days i have taken the medicine..but today i'm suffering from congested nose. Please help me how can i come out of it??

Answers
1)   The only thing you can do for a cold is give it time.

For nasal congestion you can steam your head in the shower, moisture is better than dry air for sinuses. - Jen

2)   Hi..
for the congestion you could use some olbas oil or simply eucalyptus oil which is readily available in the drug stores or in the market.. use it and so inhalation by using a bowl of hot boiling water and just pouring 2-3 drops of the decongestant olbas or eucalyptus oil... take a large clean towel, place your head over the vapor followed by the towel over your head.. make sure that the vapor ain't escaping...inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.. do this for about 5 - 10 mins once a day for week... and to keep healthy try maintaining it.. take a habit, once or twice a week.. it will keep your nasal tract free and will prevent congestion.
Get well soon,
~Vandana~ - witty_girl

3)   Do some face and neck steaming...inhale from mouth and exhale from nose.
Take a spoon of honey..mix some turmeric powder...make a paste and eat it slowly.
Gargle with warm water + salt...and spit out the cough. - Dnut

I took some benadryl and it helped. What can I do? I've been praying to get these headphones ever since Lady Gaga announced they're arrival. Help me!! HELP ME!

Question 4
If you have changing moles dose it mean skin cancer?...  I got a mole on my back like months ans months ago, at it got darker and darker, and it looks werid.. normal, but if you look closley, it has a little bump in the middle.

I had a mole like right beside my breast since I could ever remeber, and I never really looked at it, but I see like black little dots in it, and different shades of brown..

Dose this mean it's skin cancer? I'm 13, so is it normal for this to happen?

Answers
1)   it doesnt mean skin cancer although it is a warning sign that those areas could be sensitive.keep them outta the sun - Morgan

2)   Usually if your mole changes shape or color it is a cause for concern. A skin cancer doctor can give it a quick look to determine what it is. My skin check took five minutes for my whole body and was painless. Tell your parents to take you to the doctor or tell the school nurse. - Jen

Question 5
Could this be skin cancer on my penis?...  Could this be skin cancer on my penis?

I haven't had anytype of sex with girl(Not like any girls want me anyway) so it can't be an STD. That spot is a little darker than normal. The texture of that spot doesn't feel any diffrent from the rest of it. The spot doesn't hurt or anything. It isn't raised at all. Does this sound like anything to worry about? My dad thinks it's just pigmentation discoloring or something like that. Does that sound right?
The spot is symmetrical.
The whole spot is blurry, It's kinda hard to tell the actual color.
It's not that big at all.
I went to the dermatologist to get it checked out and he just to keep watching it for changes. It's been there about a month since I 1st noticed it, I don't think it's chanced at all...

Answers
1)   Skin cancer usually occurs on exposed areas of skin, which normally would not include the penis. Additionally, skin cancer is rare in young people. Whatever it is, it is almost certainly not skin cancer. - Techwing

2)   Sounds like your a teenager, your body will go through a lot of weird changes in this time of your life, the penis is no exception. It is most likely just your skin growing and the pigmentation changing. Every mans penis isn't one perfect color, shape, etc.

I would just keep an eye on it and make sure the spot doesn't grow in size or becomes raised, itchy, changes a darker color, etc. If it does tell your father again and seek the advice of a dermatologist again, but until then don't freak out about it. - kjdela

my lyph nodes are swollen in my neck.what do i do i have no insurance?

Answers
1)   Wow, you might have AIDS or other infections. There are places that test for HIV/AIDS for free. If I were you, I would go to a free clinic or something. Maybe apply at Department of Health and Human Services for Medicaid. Some hospitals have an office you can go to and apply for sliding fee scales based on your income. All you have to do is fill out the application and provide some information. If I were you I would do some investigating first by checking out your local or state service sites or government offices related to medical care. - Jeff R

2)   I have the same problem. Except I have like 3 big ones and 5 smaller ones around my neck. Whenever you get sick they become visible and hurt because they are part of your immune system and fight off the disease you got. They are normal to be there and some people have lymph nodes that show and others don't. Relax, and happy holidays! :)

NOTE: They don't have anything related to HIV/AIDS. I asked my doctor and he said that they are normal. - ♊ Gemini ♊

3)   Go to the emergency room and give a fake name. Lymph nodes typically become inflamed during an infection, the nodes remaining inflamed after infection has passed is not a good sign. Though I think it might be likely that you have just become better at "noticing" your nodes. But if you are certain that your nodes are swollen and have remained swollen for some months you likely need to get your hands on some Amoxicillian or another anti-biotic, the safest way to do this is by going to a doctor or urgent care center.

Basically, go to a damn doctor. - Katie

4)   Sometimes they don't go away and you are fine. I have one behind my ear that has been there since I got a bad infection when I was a kid (I'm 20 now). It only hurts when I have an infection or am sick, but it never fully goes away. Lymph nodes swell and hurt when you get sick or have an infection so if it only hurts when you have an infection you are probably okay.
But if it keeps growing or hurting for no reason you can go to a free clinic. They have long waits but are free to those without insurance. Just google search free clinics in your area.
You could also webmd infections and lymph nodes just to get an idea if what is going on is normal. - Emila

5)   you need an antibiotic penicillin is penicillin no matter what it is for

http://www.amazon.com/Long-Lasting-Penicillin-100ml/dp/B00061MQGO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1261717130&sr=8-1

I work in a feed store for live stock animals and since so many people are having money issues we have been selling out of this stuff - Prince of Shananana

6)   Hi it would be best to have this checked out. Sometimes lymph nodes will never go down after being enlarged. Lymph nodes enlarge when we have infections, viruses etc. But beings you have been sick and they have enlarged and are hurting you it is best to be seen by a doctor. Good Luck. - kwgirlroper09

You can still go and get treatment but the scars are forever. - Two Smoking Guns

5)   I'm certainly not a professional but i have had similar issues and questions for doctors since i have kp myself...things i'm guessing it could be:

-allergic reaction to an ingredient in shampoo/conditioner (try just rinsing, not washing your hair awhile as bad as it sounds, but since you don't have hair that shouldn't really be an issue for you should it?)

-acne (i would resolute to this being it if not any other on the list)

-over dried scalp (if they're itchy and you can take off larger than dander bits of skin, this is most likely. if just rinsing your scalp for a week or two allows them to still appear, try a mosturizor)

-skin condition - Runescape Ruffian

6)   they might not be anything specific but check with the doctor - Tseyon
