Question 5
Sudden Welts on Wrist?...  My boyfriend noticed two little bumps on his wrist about two hours ago. They looked like little mosquito bites... except it's winter and there are no mosquitoes around. As time went on, they grew into welts and eventually merged to create one giant red welt.
There are no visible bite wounds, and when you squeeze it, it's stiff. He finds they were itchy, but it went away and there is no pain.
He is not allergic to anything that we know of, but he took Benadryl just incase.
Any idea as to what this welt is?

Answers
1)   It does sound like an allergy. Was he wearing a watch or any other jewelry on his wrist? I used to get a rash exactly like this whenever I wore a watch. In addition, my skin would turn a greenish color. It could be an allergy to nickel, which is fairly common, if he was indeed wearing some kind of jewelry. - lovestolaugh

2)   Something he came in to contact with. Welts are classic for a contact allergy. Use benadryl & topical hydrocortisone cream. - Diane A

3)   There's a first time for anything, so I would guess an allergic reaction--I didn't think I was allergic to anything and then I got severe hives from a medication.

If it keeps up see a doctor. - LadyB112
