a way to relieve eczema itching?

Question 1
a way to relieve eczema itching?...  I have mild eczema that is irritated by certain soaps, detergents, perfumes etc.
I don't really want to get some expensive prescription cream.

is there something else I can put on it when I start to break out and itch? maybe something more organic.

Answers
1)   Hydrocortisone cream 1% its and anti itch cream too. Its for eczema. And you can get it at like Walmart or CVS for under 10$ - droidgirl0929

2)   There are lots of washes at the pharmacy that can help that are over the counter products. I used to use some calamine lotion on mine as it helped the itching go away almost immediately. - Jarv

4)   The best soap to use for your skin at this point is Aveeno. Also use the lotion by Aveeno. My son and I both suffer from eczema and we use that, as well as a cream prescribed by your doctor that is called "Clobetasol" 0.05%. My son was using this ointment at 3 months of age and I saw a dramatic difference within the next day. Try to stay away from the detergents with perfumes. What's weird is that my son does the best with Olay soap bars with shea butter, and it doesn't bother him. It's best to see your doctor or a dermatologist. Aveeno also has a calming lotion and soap available that's good for the itching. - nmccune73

5)   I've been suffering from eczema since I was little and I found the best thing to use is Aveeno daily moisturizer. It's made of oats or oatmeal or something. I can't live without it! I apply it to my face and arms twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. I can't use any soaps or lotions with fragrances in it because i' m extremely sensitive to it and I break out in itchy hives and it makes my eczema so much worse. I also use aveeno body wash which is dermatologist recommended, fragrance free and it's nice and moisturizing and will soothe your itchy skin. If you have a particularly bad flare up you can also apply hydrocortisone cream to the affected area or you could even use vaseline which is super moisturizing and non-irritating too. It doesn't help the itch much but it helps moisturize dry skin. I hope I helped a bit. Feel better! - TK

3)   Lost my mom to lung cancer in 1989, and my husband has lost 3 relatives (grandmother, and 2 aunts) to cancer in the last 3 years. It's an awful disease. For me, one of the hardest parts of losing my mom to cancer was that I felt it totally robbed me of my mother. Not only did I lose her at the time, it took the future I looked forward to sharing with my mom (having her at my wedding, when I had kids, etc.). For a long time, I even felt like it took the memories I had of her, because I couldn't remember the good times I spent with her without my mind automatically switching to her illness and death. Fortunately for me, time has been a great healer. I can remember the good times with her wilthout having memories of her illness creep in and take over. It has also helped me to participate in the Relay for Life and other events that raise money for cancer research. - hallen4819

1)   Colon cleaning is the modern method to reduce weight. Boffins have illustrated the fact that not all unwanted weight is due to excess fat, a great deal of weight just sits there in your insides, and all you need to do is flush it out. http://helont.makersdiet.info has a risk free trial on at the moment, give it a try out, you can reduce as much as 20 lbs! - Roland

2)   What I'm thinking is bed bugs or dust mites. Dust mites in your mattress and linens will do that to you. I had to go to my allergist about this before and it was nothing but dust mites in the mattress. You can wash all of your linens in hot water and also use the vacuum cleaner with the extensions and suck them up from your bed. The most important thing to do is to buy a mattress cover that keeps the dust mites and bugs from your bed. After I did that, the dust mites were under control. And there were no bed bugs at all. Good luck. - nmccune73

3)   It could possibly be bed bugs that are biting you. They bite anywhere there's uncovered skin. You should check under your bed and in your bed frame with a flashlight. They're super tiny and fast and they leave black poop where they nest. They also like hiding in dark areas and come out at night to feed on your blood and their bites are extremely itchy. It's either bed bugs or you might be having an allergic reaction to your sheets which is causing you to have hives. Maybe if you changed your detergent and washed your sheets in them. If you think it's an allergic reaction put some hydrocortisone cream on the bumps and take some benadryl or allergy medicine. If you think it's bed bugs then you should get an exterminator and see a doctor on how to treat the bites. Good luck and I hope I helped some. - TK

Question 4
Will burning a small wart off leave a scar?...  I went to the doctors a while back and he confirmed It was a small wart on the back of my hand. The "Head" of it has been knocked off so it is still red just not as big.

I had an appointment to burn the remaining off but I decided to cancel because I am nervous of the scarring.

Will it scar? I hear a lot of stories on the internet of the doctor saying "It will be fine in 2 weeks." When it really isn't.

Will I have a scar if I get it removed?

Answers
1)   Ive had more than a few warts burnt off and i couldn't even tell you were they were originally on my hands. There is no evidence left that i ever had warts burnt off. - Jarv

2)   I've never burned a wart, but i have done the "at home freezings"

I had done it several times (am i warty?) and haven't had one scar yet... Maybe you should try that? It comes in a box that you can buy over the counter at your local drug store and you hold it up to your wart for a small amount of time and the wart will turn a white color... After a day or two you will get a small blister their (not much bigger than the wart it's self)... Then the blister pops and... It's gone!

Good luck! - ArticC

3)   I had two warts removed. One from my finger and one from my arm. They both came back somehow after being burned off a few years ago. I did have a tiny scar on my arm. And it hurt a tiny bit when they did the procedure. But it was equal to a small shot so it wasn't too bad. If you don't want to have a scar I would suggest applying some neosporin on it after the wart has fallen off. Hope that helps - TK

Question 5
contracted herpes, bled when i tried to have intercourse very painful?...  Over two weeks ago I found out I had contracted herpes type 1 from my boyfriend. He had it on his mouth and even though he wasn't showing symptoms at the time, I contracted it in my genitals. I have been to the doctors and had tests and it shows it is only type 1 and I took antibiotics for this. The blisters and sores only fully healed about 2 days ago and yesterday we tried to have intercourse for the first time again, he barely touched me he was only at the opening of my vagina and it stung so much I was in alot of pain it felt like the hole had shrunk so i told him to wait and i felt down there and when i pulled my hand up it had blood on my fingers. It wasn't heavy and we had a shower and i washed and a little more came out but no more came out after the shower. I don't know if this is normal so soon after I caught herpes? should I be concerned? my opening couldn't have shrunk in size in just 2 weeks, could there still be a sore further inside that got irritated when he I tried to insert his penis in. any answers would be greatly appreciated I will talk to the doctors as soon as possibly but they are not open on a sunday. thanks for your help
I am on the pill but no where near my period so it would not be that

Answers
1)   It could be related to the outbreak (likely) or you could have just randomly bled. Are you on the pill? it could have been break-through bleeding. Either way, maybe don't have sex until you see a doctor, distract yourself and try to not think about it until you see them. There's no point in worrying about something you have no control over :) good luck. Sorry to hear about the pain. - TheMeow

2)   That sounds scary and painful. I would wait a while longer before trying intercourse again. They make a medication that helps limit the frequency and severity of outbreaks. I understand it works pretty well with most people. I don't think anything has shrunk, but you might be tensing up after the shock of what you have been through. I hope your boyfriend told you he had herpes before you caught it and that you made your own decision to continue to have sex with him as an informed participant. In future you might want to use a lubricant at first to "grease the wheels" so to speak. I suspect, as you mentioned, that there was still an open sore that had been undetected. For people who do not have herpes, they should know that the outbreaks are very painful and are a series of ulcerated sores that tend to follow the nerve tracts where the herpes virus "hides". Once you have the virus, there is no cure and you can infect others even when there is no sign of an outbreak. People who do not inform their partners that they have the disease have been successful sued for having knowingly endangered their health. Loving partners have found happiness when one or both partners have the disease. Stress is suspected of triggering outbreaks. Good luck. - Momperson

3)   You can have a fulfilling sex life if you have genital herpes, even though it may be more complicated than it was before your diagnosis. Now, you must be careful about what you do and when you do it.

Avoid these sexual activities when you have sores on your genitals, or when you are having a herpes outbreak which is what you are describing:

Vaginal sex
Anal sex
Receiving oral sex (fellatio, cunnilingus, and analingus)

Between outbreaks, it's OK to have sex, as long as your partner understands and accepts the risk if they are not infected. In your case your boyfriend is also infected. If you have a new partner in the future or not, remember, He or she can be infected even when you don't have symptoms or sores. To help prevent infecting a new partner, always use a latex condom for vaginal sex, anal sex, and receiving fellatio. Condoms are not guaranteed to prevent infection, but research has shown that they provide some protection. Use a dental dam for cunnilingus and analingus.

As long as you don't have herpes sores on your mouth, you can perform oral sex on your partner at any time, including when you have an outbreak of genital symptoms. Otherwise, use your imagination. There are many ways people can express themselves sexually without having genital-to-genital or mouth-to-genital contact. Exploring them can enrich your sex life and make up for having to avoid other activities because of genital herpes. Consult a health care professional if you have any doubts about what's safe and what is not. I'm sure you will feel better and more knowledgeable after speaking with your physician.

Hope this helps. - syl c.
