Acne Pills...? Which Ones are good and work quickly but effectively?

Question 1
Acne Pills...? Which Ones are good and work quickly but effectively?...  I've been using minocycline for about the past 9 months, but I think its beginning to wear off. I also use Epiduo Gel but I dont like it because it makes my face red and irratated plus, it doesn't do much. I've done some research and pills I've come up with are:
Accutane
Acneticin
Acnepril
Orovo Acne
Pronexin
Tetracycline

Are theses pills actually any good? If so, what would you say is the best? I'm going to talk to my dermatologist next time I see her because sometimes I have to double my dose (2 pills per day) just to see results. And I STILL have little bumps!! My face is pretty clear for the most part, but I still have some scars, little clear bumps that are just oil, and an occaisional scab.

If the pills mentioned above are no good, what pills are? Please, no over the counter stuff. I want something that has to be prescibed because that means its got higher content, it's more potent, and it works better.

thanks :)

1)   I would recommend Acneace!!!!
I used it, and after 1 months, my acne was COMPLETELY gone!
Hope it works for you.
you can get From Google Search Acneace Official site. Good luck. - Chris Sturat

2)   You should use accutane, it is the best about it you can get information from here http://cadmedans6.notlong.com/AAI0s8u - Eleonore Tritten

3)   my friend used accutane and got crohn's disease.

the pills he had to take for crohn's disease deteriorated his shoulders and hips. he's a 26 year old with two replacement hips, and a bum shoulder that can never run again, because he took some acne medication. - stoned ranger

4)   pills are not the way to go
acne is a topical skin condition and should eb dealt with suing topical medicines
ive used proactive and it works great but it scars so there is an issue
polysporin is great for making acne go away faster without scars
most family doctors have powerful acne creams as well my Doctor gave me some but i cant really remember the names

i think acne pills are more used to prevent acne but when it comes to dealing with already present acne you should use a cream. - Rishi N

5)   The only thing I will say is: unless your acne is so bad that it might scar for life or you have already stopped growing, do not use acutane! It is known to stunt growth, though it is considered very powerful, so unless you want that, do not use it. I use minocycline, which is less effective, but if taken morning and night, does a very good job. - Lizard

6)   Well you can't just choose a pill, when you go to a dermatologist they start you with one and only let you move to stronger pills if you need them. It took me a year to be offered Accutane but I chose not to take it because it f*cks your body up really bad. Any pill you take is going to take months to start working and possibly make it worse in the beginning, The only thing that worked for me is Sulfamethoxyle (spelling?). 2 a day and it works great unless you miss just 1 pill, you f*cked for a week - MysticDMBherb

3)   Acne Don’ts: The 7 Things You Should Never Do To Your skin When You Have Acne (And Even If You Don’t)

You skin is the largest organ in your body. Besides helping the body in the process of toxic elimination (One of the main acne contributing factors), it also protects your body against temperature changes, and from harmful invaders.

By working with your skin and not against it you pave the way to an enhanced healing of the skin. Your skin will look and feel better; it will become more even toned and vibrant.

On the other hand, by constantly doing the following, you are weakening the natural protecting capabilities of your skin, you are slowing the healing process of your skin, and are making your skin look bad and making your acne worse:

1.Smoking

Besides lung cancer, heart disease and early aging of your skin (e.g. wrinkles), smoking causes the contraction of the small capillaries and blood vessels of the skin, thus depriving your skin from the essential oxygen I needs for the creation and maintenance of healthy cells.

2. Using Topical Steroids

Over the counter or prescription cortisone based creams, especially the potent types, can eventually thin your skin and worsen your acne condition in the long run in addition to the irritation, redness and other side effects steroid creams can cause. Moreover, topicals by definition address the symptoms of acne (inflammation, itching, puss), they do not treat the root cause of the disease. Nevertheless, taking care of your skin externally is highly recommended but should be performed gently using pure natural ingredients such as diluted tea tree oil.

3. Taking Antibiotics

Antibiotic treatments like tetracycline aggravate your acne in the long run and also severely damage your internal system in the process. Antibiotics destroy all the bacteria in your system including the good, probiotic bacteria like acidophilus that have many essential qualities that promote clear skin. One of these qualities is the ability to protect your digestive tract from parasites and fungus (that constantly stress and damage your liver, one of the most important organs responsible for the healing process of your skin).

read more here http://tinyurl.com/6d7n7yb - Zulkefli

4)   I used to have bad skin. some things i tried that i found helped were
drinking 3 litres of water a day everyday and i started to see improvement after doing that for about 2-3 weeks.
Tea tree (body shop body wash) and shower every day using that. and try some tea tree light moisturiser on it after you wash, as tea tree and other brands of cleansers wash away natural oils too and i find that if i do that my skin get even more greasy. So if your using a harsh cleanser then you may need to moisturise after.

There is no quick fix i'm afraid and every new routine should be followed everyday for at least 10-12 weeks.

Another good thing i currently like is dead sea salts. Genuine dead sea salts are 'made in israel' and they have a healing quality to them and contain minerals. Put some in a bath and soak your shoulder under the water for 30 mins. you could do this once or twice a week and it may help help heal the spots and skin.

Dianette is a contraceptive pill that aides acne and gets rid of it. Rooaccutane is a powerful drug that gets rid of acne permanently and i found this amazing. I still get a few spots now but its been 10 yrs since i was on roaccutane but my skin has never been as bad as it was years ago since going on it!

Goodluck - me

My inner labia becomes swollen after sex, is something wrong?

Question 1
My inner labia becomes swollen after sex, is something wrong?...  My partner and I have been having sex for several months, but just recently after sex I notice some pain and occasional bleeding. I've taken a look with a mirror and part of my inner labia seems to have swollen up like a balloon. It lasts for most of the day or night after having sex and continues to be slightly painful. Neither of us have STDs and I'm not allergic to the condoms because we don't use any. My partner is thicker than any of my previous partners so I thought that might be part of the issue, but we had sex for about 3 months with no issues prior to this. We use plenty of lubrication and that seems to help a little, but I still get the swelling and pain after. Any suggestions to figure out what's going on? I should be going in to see my gyno in about a month, so I'll discuss it with her, but I'm not sure if I should rush in to get things looked at.

How long will a person like this live...?...  My dad has been drinking and smoking for years now. About 10-15 years ago, he would binge drink for about 3 days at a time. One of his brothers eventually got him into doing heroin, which hes been doing for the past 10 years or so. I'm surprised theres been no complications until now.. back in september, he ended up in the hospital for a bone disease called osteomyelitis, which is caused by using drugs. He had to have back and stomach surgery, so they could scrape infections off of his bones. He was in the hospital for 2-3 months, and once he got out, he was right back to smoking cigarettes again, maybe a pack a day. He's supposed to take pills everyday for the rest of his life so that the disease doesn't come back, but he doesn't. I don't even know what to do or say, because I feel like anyone who does this to themselves and lets things like this happen is careless. I feel like he won't live long because of all the things he's doing, and I hate knowing that he eventually won't be there for me in the future because of his own mistakes. How long does someone like this live, on average. He's about 48-49 years old.

5)   Assuming that his health will kill him someday, he can die tomorrow... he can die in ten years... who knows? Even doctors would have a hard time answering that question.

I agree with you, he is careless. You say you can hate knowing that he won't be there for you in the future, but I doubt you can even say that he is there for you right at this moment. I'm sure he knows how you feel, but yet your relationship with him is not worth giving up his self-destructing habit and that is clearly affecting you. That is extremely selfish. - Kat

My problem is the ugly patches on my thighs which have been there for ages. I am ashamed to remove my pants in front of my gf. Please help. How do I get rid of those patches?

3)   Jock itch is a fungal infection involving the top-most layer of skin, the epidermis. Fungi live on everyone's skin, and most of the time just sit there innocently causing no problems whatsoever. If the skin becomes irritated, like from chafing, for example, then the fungus can get into the skin and cause a skin reaction. Fungi also tend to grow in warm moist areas (sweaty areas), such as the groin, in between the toes, and the armpits. The best way to prevent fungal infections is to keep those areas as dry as possible by using powder. Antifungal powder is great, but even baby powder will work once you get the infection under control, to prevent it from recurring. Powder also helps to revent chafing.
As far as treating an active fungal skin infection, no matter what part of the body it's on, anti-fungal jock-itch creams such as Lotrimin or Tinactin generally work well. If the skin is very red and irritated, you can add some over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream, and apply botht he anti-fungal and the hydrocortisone creams to the area twice a day. Most people go wrong by stopping the anti-fungal cream too soon. You need to keep using the anti-fungal cream to the same are for at least 2 weeks AFTER the rash has totally disappeared, or else it will just keep coming back. - First L

Help: My mom won't let me listen to my iPod or anything with headphones?

Question 1
Help: My mom won't let me listen to my iPod or anything with headphones?...  Lately my mom, caused herself to have this "disease" where she hears sound from her ears, really loudly. Which means that I can't go to the movie theatre or subway with her, as the sound is to much. I totally understand that and I help her get through it. I can't remember the name of the disease but all I know, is that you can get it if you listen to music loudly on headphones. My mom got this in Jan 2011. For christmas she bought me an iPod which was expensive and now, she has hidden ALL my earphones so I don't get the disease. I understand she wants to protect me, but I want to listen to my music. She even hid my iPod. I really think it's unfair because I want to listen to my music, and I always listen on low volume, whereas my mom always listened on high which is how she got it. I explained this, but she said it does not matter i could still get it. HOW can I get her to let me listen to my music with earphones. And also, is this disease curable? My mom said she read on the Internet and in a book, it's not and she will have it forever and she is really mentally depressed about it and breaks down and cries every day, and it makes me sad.

Thanks

“To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long periods. As a guide to setting the volume level, check that you can still hear your own voice, when speaking normally while listening with the headphones.”

...and promise to listen sensibly.

I have never used headphones or listened to loud music in my life and I have tinnitus. Could drive me nuts, but I can mostly tune it out.
I find that external sounds help. When it began I used to walk busy streets as the noise of traffic covered the sound of the tinnitus.

Tell you mom to go see a good ENT specialist. There is no cure for most types of tinnitus, but she can write down all the questions she needs answered.
Perhaps she can be reassured about you and sensible listening and also be taught how to cope with her tinnitus.
It IS upsetting at first and stress makes it worse. - izzy

i feel tired, and i can sleep a lot longer than normal,i had a temperature all night,im cold, but when i put a blanket over me,im too hot,i take it off and im freezing again,my throat feels swollen, and i dont have an apetite either, what are the symptoms matching ?

Answers
1)   The flu. Drink lots of fluids, get lots of rest and call a doctor if this goes on for longer than 3 days, if you have trouble breathing, or if your temperature gets above 103F. - Personal

2)   i dont know where you are located. but i am in florida and many ppl are getting sick and its because of the weather continuing to change. one day its freezing next day its completely hot. some mornings its hot then a few hours later its cold. maybe that can be your problem. just take some meds, dress warmly and try to sleep as much as possible. also lay off salt and drink a flat coke, that works too - sexy mae

3)   Sounds like a everyday cold. Drinks lots of Orange Juice, take some Tylenol Cold medicine, some Advil for Fever and sleep it off.
Usually if it persists more then 3-5 days see a Dr. But it's usually just Viral and they won't give you anything for it just tell you to rest. Best of Luck! - Jenna Bou

4)   about it you can get information from here http://cadmedans9.notlong.com/AAEj23Q - Roxanne Yagin

5)   Sore throat maybe pharyngitis it comes so often with the flu because of the germs.. so is for the head ache and you'll get pain all over your body 'cause your muscles are tired usual symptoms of the flu.... for the eyes I'm not sure and as long as that your eyesight is conserved looking too far may hurts because you focus more while you are all exhausted. . Have a rest, keep yourself warm, use something antipyretic ( I'm not sure if it's said like this I study with french so ><) + use throat spray+ wash your teeth today more than often done ... Loss of tasting may occur with the loss of appetite ... Don't worry doesn't look unfamilar !

Deodorants dont last on me?...  I cant understand why any deodorant cant last more than 1 hour on me. I stink all day. It´s so embarrassing. Do you know any medicine for this? or any mixture of some things you know?

Answers
1)   they have prescription deodorant, also shaving under your arms work too - sexy mae

2)   Which deodrants do you use? - Ba Ag

3)   Spray under your arms properly, from a distance of about 25cm. Don't buy cheap deodorants and you'll be fine. You can get stronger stuff at chemists, but you'll have to ask them about it. Lynnx/Axe should be ok though. - Scampi

4)   Hi Anthony. Sometimes store bought deodorants do not work for some people. If you go to the doctor, you can get a prescription strength deodorant, that is much more effective. The odor is caused by bacteria, so you should make sure you wash twice a day with an anti-bacterial soap, and apply deodorant immediately after you're done. I would consider trying the prescription strength one though. I know a couple of people that used it, and it really helped them a lot. Good luck. - Angelbunny17

Should I tell my fiancée?

Question 1
Should I tell my fiancée?...  Well me and my girl are really close. We have been best friends for years, and engaged for a few months now. Well I have had this illness since I was a little kid, and she knows about it. However, recently it has taken a dramatic turn for the worst. My lungs are slowly being destroyed, and my doctor told me that I only have a few years at most to live.

Now I have known that this would happen someday, and I made peace with the thought of my death years ago. So I could accept death as it is, and not worry about anything. Just go you know. However, back then I didn't have my beautiful angel to worry about. Whenever my illness flares up a little she has tears in her eyes, and she holds on my tight refusing to let me go.

She knows all about my illness, just not the severity of it. I have already told her brother (my best friend), and all of our close friends. She talks about how we are going to be together forever, and how I am the greatest thing to ever happen to me. How I am the light of her life, and I m the one bulwark that keeps the darkness from overtaking her, and how I am her harbor in the massive storm of life.

Life is ironic, that is for sure. How one month after my engagement to her, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do in life, be with her forever. But now I have this curve ball to fight. I know that if I tell her that she is going to break down, that is for certain. However, I can't stand seeing my beautiful flower cry. She is such a fun loving, amazing, sweet, bubbly, unique girl. One who I fell for the second I saw her.

Part of me wants to tell her, but then I know that she will be crying over me for years to come. And I just want to see her smiling, even if that is at someone else. I just want to know that she is going to be fine.

But the other part of me wants to run away from it. Just break up with her, and get her to hate me. Yes I know it sounds cruel, but I have my reasons. If I do this she will cry, and she will curse my name for all eternity. But at least she could move on faster. That way she can live her life without having to think of the fate of the love struck fool that is Wayne Aurelius. If I do this, then I can find a nice little cozy hole to crawl into and die. I accept my death, and I just want to make sure she is happy.

Or my third and final plan at this time. Just not tell her. Just keep on going as is, and just letting the days go by. Then one day I will die, and thats the end of it. Just as much grief as the first one, but at least she won't be worried about me through the time I have left. It would at least let her live a normal life with her husband (if I live to get there), and not have to worry about anything until my death.

I told all of the people close to us because they are best friends with all two of us since we were children, and I wanted their opinions. And the only reason I haven't told her is because I know what her reaction is going to be :( She is so sensitive, and she cares deeply for me. But I knew a long time ago that I just want her to be happy. I don't mind sacrificing my own happiness for hers.

No I can't have a transplant, because it is a disease that is eating up most of my body. My left arm is pretty bad, and my right lung looks more like swiss cheese. It also effects my stomach and causes me to have random attacks that cause me to cough up blood. For example, I once went to the movies with her, and I told her I was going to the restroom and to go ahead without me. After she turned the corner, I basically ran to the restroom and started coughing up blood for about five minutes. I felt like someone had taken my lungs, and was crushing them in their cold hands.

Oh and either way I am leaving behind enough money to take care of her for years and years to come. So I don't have to worry about her financially. So what plan should I do, or do you suggest another course of action?

(and to those who answered before, I am posting in different sections because it is linked to many different areas)

1)   Even though it will hurt her, you have to tell her. She deserves your honesty. - James Ford

2)   Wow that's tough.....im really sorry by the way :( i honestly think you should tell her. She deserves to know, wouldn't you want to know if your wife only had a few years to live? God Bless and Good luck - Stephanie

3)   you should tell her.i suggest you don't break up with her because it will only worsen the situation.I'm sure your angel would understand.pray for a miracle.life is not over yet till He says so. - meca

4)   Communication is the best policy. Be totally open and don't hold back since it between loving partners. - silvre

5)   I think you should tell her so she can come to peace with it as well. Grieving has stages. You need to let her go through them as you have. She will most likely be sad but who wouldn't.
Trying to push her away won't work. She will just ask why, either way you'll eventually end up spilling it so just tell her. - Mariana

Question 2
Is there a way I can talk to my girlfriend about seriously seeking treatment for her bad breath?...  My girlfriend, well really she's my fiance, has horrible breath. We have been together for 2 and a half years now. At first, I think my puppy love made up for it. I don't remember it always being so rank, but I also remember her chewing a lot of gum at the beginning of our relationship. Now we live together and there is no way to escape the death fog.
I am surprised that our pets and plants don't keel over dead when she talks to them/ takes care of them/ breathes around them.
I have very gently talked to her about it in the past. I was honest, loving, and candid. She went to the dentist. She reports to me that the dentist told her to brush. She has EXCELLENT oral hygiene (maybe I should have mentioned that at the outset of this post). I see her brush. Her breath is bad by the time she is wiping her mouth on the towel after brushing.
The smell is so potent that we haven't slept in the same bed in 6 months. It is so strong that it wakes me up at night because I will think one of the pets has taken a shit in the bedroom. That is literally how bad it is.
We can barely ride in the car together. I can't kiss her. We don't have sex because her breath is so bad I feel like I am trying to be intimate inside a sewer system and sucking on a sewage pipe.
It is absolutely KILLING me. She is perfect for me in every single way. We are highly compatible and love each other very much. We generally have very little conflict, we are very well-matched. We are open and honest with each other about our needs, desires, dislikes, and issues. I have talked to her about it so many times that I fear that I can't keep talking to her about it without really hurting her. She says the dentist offers no solutions when she goes. And she goes regularly. He put her on Pepcid to control acid, which she says she has never had problems with (no heartburn, etc). She is a healthy weight, and does not drink or smoke. She took the pepcid for months and there was no relief.
She has tried using probiotics as well.
She has this mouth spray that is all natural made of cloves, annise, etc. When she sprays it, it works for literally about 30 seconds and then the smell is back. She can't keep spraying that stuff over and over again, it would make her sick!
I just don't see how we can have a healthy marriage without physical contact. Even not being able to be in the same room with her sometimes just kills me.
It is so bad sometimes I can smell it all over our house. It literally smells like a broken sewage line mixed with the smell of a thousand rotting, vomit-covered corpses.
Or I assume that these things would smell very similar...
Does anyone have any HELPFUL, EDUCATIONAL ideas that could benefit us?
Her dentist would have diagnosed her with gum disease, cavities, etc when she goes every 6 months if those were things that she had.

Answers
1)   she might have some kind of gum disease - John

2)   Over Exagerating Or What! Dam Dude lol - Irvic

3)   If it's as bad as you described then something is wrong in her stomach and she needs to go to the doctor's. It's not about her mouth, but something in her stomach that could possibly have been there for YEARS. - Katie Rose

4)   When a person has severe bad breath there is a medical term for it called halitosis.

There are several simple and practical remedies that you can try at home as halitosis cure. These include:

1.Brush with baking soda to reduce the acidity in the mouth and make it difficult for the bacteria to grow
2.Brush and rinse using hydrogen peroxide when you have upper respiratory infections but don’t swallow it
3.Gargle with salt water to reduce bacteria in the mouth
4.Avoid eating foods with refined carbohydrates and sugars like cookies, sweets, cakes, carbonated soft drinks, ice creams and syrups
5.Drink sufficient amount of water (6-8 glasses) daily
6.Brush teeth daily especially before going to bed
7.Mix a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds to ½ liter of water, simmer for 15 minutes, strain and drink as tea
8.Exercise and eat fiber rich foods to prevent constipation
9.Stop bad breath and gum bleeding by chewing unripe guava fruit or its tender leaves
10.Eat avocado to remove intestinal decomposition that leads to bad breath

If none of these home remedies work she can actually go to the doctor and get a prescription for it. Since the dentist isn't doing anything to help I'm sure the doctor will.

Good luck. - Kaylen

Is irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease the same thing?...  I have been having either diarrhea, constipation, or loose stools. So far this has been going on for around seven or eight months. I've also felt very lethargic and lost quite a bit of weight. What should I do about this issue? Could it affect my health in a bad way if I just ignore it?
My doctor also told me that I have strep b (vaginal strep). Could that be what's affecting me and making me have these weird symptoms?

Answers
1)   No. IBS runs in families. The other I think is something much worse than IBS. A gastroenterologist should be able to diagnose you properly.

IBS is partly genetically linked, partly diet (ie caffeine plus nuts, seeds or popcorn makes cramps, constipation marble stools and caffeine plus salad makes cramps and diarrhea). Stress makes it worse also.

Inflammatory bowel disease I think has more severe symptoms like bloody stools. I am not as familiar with that. You could google it. - sunflowers

2)   THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS YOU ARE HAVING ARE THOSE OF INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE, NOT IRRITABLE BOWEL. YOUR BOWEL MAY HAVE ULCERATIONS AND YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO HAVE COLONOSCOPY (CHECKING THE COLON WITH A SCOPE AND MAY BE TAKING A SMALL PIECE FOR MICROSCOPIC ANALYSIS)
As for the streptococcus, it is very unlikely that it can cause this. When we say "inflammatory" we do not necessarily mean bacterial infection. Most of the inflammatory bowel diseases are non bacterial. - Akram A

Overnight acne help, and best acne systems.?

Question 1
Overnight acne help, and best acne systems.?...  This morning when i woke up my acne was worse than usual. Is there any overnight things i could do to help clear my acne up. I can't go out and buy anything. Also, what is the best acne system to use. I have used Proactiv (that seems to work the best), AcneFree, Clinique, Clearasil, and many others. Most of them worked for a week or two and then just stopped working. Thanks

Answers
1)   I use the " Clean and Clear : Blackhead Eraser ". It honestly works for my acne and usually takes up to 5 days to see full results. It really doesn't work for blackheads, but it really works for acne.

If you want fast overnight help, use Finacea, but you have to have it prescribed by a dermatologist. - Jesse

2)   Hello, I'm a doctor. Use accutane. I think that you want to get more info about it. Please go to ----> http://canmdh34.notlong.com/AAkx0MB - Randolph Quartucci

3)   I'm 15 and those DONT work. they just say it does. I was getting my haircut and my barber said you should try lemon juice for that. I asked why and she said its acid attacks acne and balances the Ph of your skin out.
Drinking this also does this, even if you delute it with water its just AWEFUL.
so every night I put a cotton pad on the opening of the bottle of lemon juice..let it soak up with lemon juice and put it on my face. it STINGS but it works! makes your skin feel smooth the next night or two! then you can start using acne products in the morning since they include the acne PROVENTION medication!
hope this helped! - Sam Britt

4)   If you don't have any benzoyl peroxide in your house (2%-10%) Then use your toothpaste. When you're in the shower or something, squeeze the toothpaste and apply it there. It WILL sting a little, but its a nice sting. Try it and do it twice a day. - Vfdgfgt Tyhfddr

I am 12, male
I occasionally get a dull pain in my right side (not too bad), the usual area for Appendicitis. It sometimes is higher up in my side (when it's higher up it feels like a stitch) and sometimes near my groin. I do not have any of the other symptoms of Appendicitis. The pain is on and off and I can go for hours without having it. Its been going on for 2 weeks. I don't get it at night (well, at least it doesn't wake me). The same thing happened in 2008 during Christmas period and went away when Xmas was over (I assumed it was just excitement). I have a healthy diet although I'm a bit overweight, if that helps.

I have heard that beef stay in your intestine for three days, is this true and why does this happen?

Question 1
I have heard that beef stay in your intestine for three days, is this true and why does this happen?...

Answers
1)   Yes, for me, but I eat beef everyday, so it goes in, it goes out but it doesn't stay in there. - Good Bye

2)   it is not true.

everything you eat is processed through your system in about 24 hours or less - Jay L

3)   Everything moves through your gut at the same speed. Your intestines have no capacity to execute a passing play. The overall speed of passage of intestinal contents varies, and depends on how much fiber and water you eat and several other factors, but nothing just sits there. The idea that some food or waste gets stuck in your intestines and needs to be cleaned out or "detoxed" is nonsense.

If you've ever had food poisoning you'll be aware that your colon can part with all its contents in a matter of minutes. It's a very efficient system. - fusepark

4)   Beef is good for you!
If you eat a whole pizza it will stay in you for 3 days too.
Now I know what I'm gonna have for dinner. Thanks! - peedeesuave

5)   panda,
Meat may stay in the intestines for 24-72 hours depending on its type. Likewise, red meat in particular takes 1-3 days to complete the digestion process because of fat content and high protein. Even the quick digesting foods have to wait until the slowest digesting food like meat leave the stomach. This process may take up to 6-8 hours. To be more exact on the digestive time of various proteins, egg yolk digestion time is around 30 minutes; the whole egg is approximately 45 minutes; fish which is less fatty like sole seafood, cod, flounder, takes 30 minutes to digest; while more fatty fish including salmon, herring, salmon trout can take 45-60 minutes to digest; the chicken without skin can take up 1 1/2 – 2 hours before it leaves the stomach; the turkey without skin is much longer to digest because it can stay 2-2 1/4 hours digesting; beef and lamb can stay 3-4 hours; pork can take 4 1/2- 5 hours to digest. Now, if the stomach is full, the other foods ingested together with the meat like carbohydrates, starches, vegetables and fruits, undergo fermentation that produces acid, gas, the most common indigestion problems, while they are waiting for the stomach to be emptied.

Question 3
Anatomy question? (breast cancer)?...  i'm doing my anatomy homework and i can't find the answer to this question in the book:
A young woman (late teens to early twenties) is doing a self examination for breast cancer and feels a small lump. Does this mean she definitely has breast cancer? or could it be something else? if so, what else could it be?
just to clarify, i don't think i have it i just couldnt find the answer in my anatomy book

Answers
1)   it could just be a swollen lymph node, just a lump in the mammary glands, etc... - Dude

2)   It is probably normal tissue, which is lumpy in some women. It could be a benign tumor, or it could be malignant. There are many possibilities. - Leo D

3)   Most of the time it'll be about benign conditions-either cysts or what is called fibroadenomas-besides the more remote possibility of breast cancer- especially more remote at this young age...less likely- i mean... - Alfred

4)   Buck_Girl,
Forgive the detail, but this may be of assistance, as is the link below. A visual examination involves standing in front of a mirror with your arms hanging down and looking at your breasts to check for puckering, dimpling, changes in breast size and texture and if your nipples are inverted. The two other positions to check for these changes are with your hands on your hips and your hands raised up with your palms pressed together. The physical examination is to check for lumps or any changes in the breast tissue. You can conduct the exam in the shower or lying down on a bed. There are two methods to conduct the physical examination, the clock pattern and the wedge pattern. The clock pattern is where you envision the face of a clock on each of your breasts. You lie down with your left hand behind your head, and use your right hand to examine your left breast. Put your hand at top of the breast using your middle three fingers in the 12 o’clock position. Use your fingers in a massaging, clockwise motion to check for lumps. Then you move hour by hour, using the same motion and feeling for any changes in your breasts. After you have repeated one cycle, move your fingers closer to your nipple and repeat the process until you get to your nipple. You should check both your left and right nipple for discharge by pinching with your fingers at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock and at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock. When you are done with your left breast, put your right hand behind your head and use your left hand to examine your right breast in the same fashion. Make sure to feel your lymph nodes under your armpit as well as areas around your breasts for any tissue changes. The wedge method entails envisioning each breast as a pie divided into equal wedges. Lie down on a bed and place your left hand behind your head. Use your right hand to examine your left breast beginning at the top of your breast and working your way down to your nipple. Use your middle three fingers to massage firmly but gently from the top of the wedge to the bottom. Once you have completed the wedge, move your fingers to the next wedge going in a clockwise direction. For the opposite side, put your right hand behind your head and use your left hand to massage your right breast. Do not forget about checking lymph nodes under your armpit and tissue around your breasts. Examine your nipples for discharge. If you are not comfortable with the clock or wedge methods, then you can use a simple sweeping technique with your three middle fingers. You begin at your collarbone and work in a clockwise direction from the outside of your breast towards the nipple. If you have larger or thicker breasts, use a walking motion with your fingers to feel for any lumps or changes. Do not forget to check your lymph nodes and nipples. If you find a lump in your breast, you should contact your doctor as soon as possible. Keep in mind that 80% of breast lumps are non-cancerous. More than 50% of women have what is known as fibrocystic breasts usually during their periods and menopause. Fibrocystic breasts are lumpy, painful and tender and develop when breast cells fill with fluid and form benign cysts in the breasts. These changes are attributed to hormone fluctuations during a woman’s menstrual period and menopause.

Why does my nose get runny when I eat spicy food?

Question 1
Why does my nose get runny when I eat spicy food?...  Yeah, it always happens. Just curious.

Answers
1)   Because you're a lightweight who can't take chilli. - Jack Daniels

2)   The primary reason spicy food causes a runny nose is that it contains a chemical compound known as capsaicin, which is present in varying degrees in hot peppers. Capsaicin is an irritant, and as the mucus membranes in the nose are exposed to it, they become inflamed and increase mucus production. It can also irritate the membranes of the eyes, causing tearing. The tears drain into the sinuses and run out the nose. - imcallingyou

3)   The membrane of the nasal cavity gets in defense mode. - Nobody Special

4)   The irritant in the spice makes your mucus membranes active. - Smiling JW™

5)   Your nose runs because your body produces extra mucus to insulate it against the irritating spices. Your runny nose is more a defensive mechanism than an allergy. - 001 0

6)   spicy food raises your adrenalin, your metabolism slightly, and your blood pressure a little, but's it's very good for you. If you eat turmeric everyday, you'll live forever I hear:) - Bedazzle

7)   Normal. Where there is fire, there is water. Spice is hot, hot is heat, heat is fire. You can see that when sun goes up the ice melts and rivers brim with water and flows down. Similarly when the sun is up the enzymes go down into the stomach and wait for the food. similarly, when there is heat in the body after exercise, water is expelled. Spice is heat and heat expels water. Wherever there is fire, water is expelled. If water remains over the the fire, the fire will be extinguished which means loss of body heat and sluggish liver. Meaning the metabolism would be impaired, digestion will be effected and assimilation will also be effected. In order that spiciness is experienced, dryness is a must and water expulsion help towards that, and when you drink water, the spiciness is reduced becomes the dryness vanish. We think that we dissolved the spiciness in water. - udaya k

Question 2
Heart palpitations for 24 hours following exercise..anything to worry about?...  I went to a spin class at the gym yesterday (been trying to get fit so been building up my exercise the past couple of weeks).

Ever since I came home from the class I've been experiencing extra heart beats, a lot of really fast ones kind of fluttery for a few seconds before returning back to normal.

Ive had anxiety related palpitations before ie really fast heart beat but its different to that, my heart beat is normal then all of a sudden does loads of fluttery beats then goes back to normal.

Is it to do with the exercise class I did last night? Is it anything to worry about?

Im 28 years old and healthy.
Ps Cant go to doc til monday as the surgery will be shut over weekend

Answers
1)   it may be anxiety related but best to get it checked out anyway by your doctor. - PAULINE

2)   Anon, it could be related to the spin class. It's likely nothing to be worried about, as many thing such as stress, caffeine, and exercise can cause heart palpitations. To be safe, I would check with your doctor. You could also have an electrolyte deficiency, I would suggest drinking some electrolyte replacement as well, like Gatorade. - MerryCurie

3)   Yes instead of posting it on Yahoo- go to your doctor. - Fly-Half10

4)   Another word for those fluttery beats is "Defibrillation" That means the heart, though doing something, is not pumping blood properly. This is not likely caused by your exercises, but rather, a condition that is being aggravated by the exercises.

I'd recommend stopping all exercise programs immediately and see a doctor ASAP as your life can be in serious danger.

But this is my opinion, I'm not a doctor. - tercir2006

5)   You should use verapamil, it is the best about it you can get information from here http://canmdh66.notlong.com/AAPnj4X - Elza Crowston

6)   go get it checked before do spinning again...spinning nearly kills me...could have ectopic heart beat not uncommon but needs checking and your anxiety just makes it vicious circle..you should always get quick medical before start stenouse exercice.
if you still breathless or pain from neck to fingers left arm go see dr asap.i do not think it anything to serious but certainly you need a check out - misscacazzy

Question 3
Can you get pinkeye from wiping your nose then wiping your eye immediately after?...  Ok so for the past three days I've been throwing up everything I've been eating, needless to say I've been gifted with the stomach bug for a little while. Early this morning I wiped my runny nose with my hand and immediately after wiped my eye. Now it's 11:30am and my eye is watery with a very slight yellow crust under it that could arguably be "sleep" or something else. Anyone know if wiping your eye with mucus can cause pink eye?? I'm really mad because I'm JUST starting to feel better from this stomach virus that I missed three days of school for, including today, and now I'm gonna have to miss even more next week if I have this crap next. Any help?

Answers
1)   you can definitely get SOMETHING by doing that - especially if you are already sick - Zarg222

2)   yes you can - Jay L

3)   No that will not cause pink eye. - Alyssa_bby :)

4)   I dont think its pink eye... Ide go see what your doctor says though. Get better! :) - Allee Fisher

5)   Keep in mind I'M NOT A DOCTOR AND THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE.

Now that that's over with, it is possible you have given yourself conjunctivitis. Whether or not it is pink eye is another debate entirely. "Pink eye" as it's most known among kids has to do with a viral infection, and I doubt you passed a virus from your mucus your eye because if you have the antibodies and are fighting the virus away in one place, you're fighting it away everywhere. Conjunctivitis is just swelling/infection/irritation of the conjunctiva, and it'll probably go away given time. I'm sure you just irritated your eye. If you continue to experience symptoms for more than 2 days or so, you should probably seek medical assistance as you don't really want to mess around when it comes to your eyes. - Ryan
