my friend is diabetic and he does all the above plus alcohol. There seems to be no short term damage so I would say the diabetes isn't very important but I wouldn't advise doing cocaine for anyone.

Well in just 2 days an abscess on my face has grown to the size of quarter, so we are heading to the ER because it just keeps growing without any improvement. Im wondering what they usually do to drain it the abscess. Any answers/advice are much appreciated =]

I had a friend who had one from a staph infection. They slit his skin to drain it and put gauze under the skin. :[ Gotta do what you gotta do though...

My advice is that you see your family doctor tomorrow and not take up space and time in the ER for something that is not an emergency. That's one of the reasons health care is so expensive for all of us.

While an abscess definitely needs treated it is NOT an emergency for the emergency room, you could have easily been treated in the doctor's office. Depending on the size it will need drained and possibly packed with gauze. A culture will be done and you will most likely have antibiotics of which you need to take ALL of them. Folks not finishing their antibiotics is why we have such an increase of these superbug infections in the first place.

They usually open it with a sterile instrument and likely put you on some fluids and antibiotics (maybe in IV)
and orally - I am sure as worried as you are you'll feel better soon.

You are 100% doing the right thing. Sometimes before they drain it they can numb it but it depends - and doesn't take much to open it.

you can't die from swine flu . well chances are really low anyway . only if she has some other disease that made her immune system weaker , if shes pregnant ( obviously not ) , or if shes above like 60 or below 5 or something like that .

First of all how did the panic attacks start? alcohol and drugs can cause u 2 have them. U should try to relax yr mind and stay focused on positive things and try 2 distract yr mind when you think it's going to happen again. it is all psychological. U need to see yr doctor though asap

If you mean actually cutting out the pimple from your skin, like gouging it out, all that will do is leave a scar.

If you mean popping the pimple, that works but runs the risk of infection or spreading the bacteria to the surrounding areas. You'll get rid of the immediate pimple, but will see more later.

The best way to clear up acne is gentle cleaning, with regular exfoliation. Use a gentle scrub, or exfoliating brush or pad, on it a couple times a week to clear the dead skin away.
