Question 1
Redness on my Arms? What is this?...  I have red blotchy skin and bumbs All over my Arms. What is that because people Have been telling me that is medical. And if it is, What can i do to heal/protect it.

Answers
1)   I think you have AIDS. - Joseph

2)   if its what i think, i get that to a little and so does my mom, and my boyfriend and alot of other ppl i see. i think its just dry skin because its winter - Ray

3)   You should see a dermatologist or your gen practitioner for sure, but it could be simple eczema...In which case LOTS of moisturizer and good ex foliation should help.

If you notice an excess of ingrown hairs, it could also be keratosis polaris...Which is genetic and incurable. But can be slightly relieved by thorough regular ex foliation. - Ashaloo

4)   it most likely is eczema or poison ivy (which is very rare in winter) if its eczema, don't fret buddy...i have it on my arms and legs, usually if you buy some cortisone 10 it will clear up. sometimes if you look up a cure or something it will call it dermatitis or make it sound nasty or infectious, but don't worry! there are millions of people just like u and i dealing with it...but in the mean time i would recommend using aveeno lotion for sensitive skin...it really helps by keeping away the itch - Mz. Answers
1)   You could talk to a doctor, although there are sprays that'll remove odor and reduce sweating from your foot. - stephens.chan

2)   Theres over the counter powders that you can find at the store. You should try one of those. - Gina

3)   LOL don't feel bad, we all have foot sweat.

http://health.howstuffworks.com/home-remedies-for-foot-odor1.htm

Be sure to wear socks!!!! Socks will soak up the sweat so less of it will stay in your shoe. If your shoe smells like ass, wash it and leave it out in the sun to dry.

Be sure to always wash your feet and change socks! Do not be cheap with socks, one wear one wash!!!

You get gunk stuck in the side of your big toe nail. That's from cotton rubbing against your feet. Use your nail to dig that crap out and wash it thoroughly with soap. Then wash your hands cuz that shit stinks! - Mr Striker

Question 3
how to get rid of acne and post acne marks?...  I've tried everything! I have oily skin so i get black heads on my chin and nose while I have breakouts on my cheeks and chin... should i just give in and go to a dermatologist (now that I'm covered by my health insurance)?
Tried proactive- just irritated my face
Murad -has been the only product to clear up my face but after 4 1/2 weeks i had a plateau affect and then broke out much worse then before

I drink over 13 oz of water a day and "creams" meant for spot treatment just make whiteheads MUCH larger
I had a sister who took Accutane and suffered a mild heart attack from the medication at 19 and my fiance has incredibly dry skin on his scalp from taking the product as younger teen even dry skin on the inside's of his ears buut his face is clear!

so, I'm worried of nasty side affects from prescription drugs

Answers
1)   Yeah, go to a dermatologist. They can give you powerful perscription anti-acne creams. Also, be sure to wash your face and put on an otc cream at least three times a day, until you get to the dermatologist, if it's that bad. - Susan

2)   If you have 'typical' teenage acne, the Pro Active stuff you've probably seen advertised on television actually works. We bought it for our son, and it helped clear up his acne within days. If you have more severe nodulocystic acne (can be all over the body...back, chest, face, etc.) then you may need to see a dermotologist. They have drugs available, which can definitely help. I myself had the more severe variety, and eventually was given a drug called Accutane, which cleared me up completely within 3 months. It was literally like looking at another person in the mirror. There were some side effects while taking the medication (dry lips, nostrils, etc.) and you need to get regular blood tests, and reduce or eliminate your alcohol intake while taking it, but it is well worth it, believe me. I was fortunate in that I didn't end up with severe scarring, but again, a dermotologist should be able to advise you on how to minimize the scarring that could result from severe acne. I know how psychologically devestating it can be to have severe acne. Don't delay. Take care of it. It will change your world. - Mr. Dave

3)   about it you can get information from here http://webmd25.notlong.com/AA4EzUY - Charlena

Answers
1)   Because people who have blended nipples look like freaks! - LisexxxLobotomy

2)   So you know where to aim when you're giving someone a purple nurple!!! - Mr. Dave

3)   "The other reason for its color comes from an abundance of two polymers: eumelanin (the brown pigment) and pheomelanin (the red pigment). The genetically-directed amount of these pigments determines the color of the areola. They can range from pale yellow to nearly black, but generally tend to be paler among people with lighter skin tones and darker among people with darker skin tones. " - Mr Striker

Does Wireless Internet cause headaches and digestive problems ? please help?...  Ok. I transferred to this university in Los Angeles 2 years ago....Before I only used wired Internet connection which didn't use radiation at all . So after moving down to L.A, I only used wireless because that is the only type of internet connection available on our campus.... Ever since moving to that school , I started developing digestive problems where my stomach feels bloated and really bad gas. I went for colonoscopies and endoscopy to see if anything was wrong with me but the tests results came back negative.... and I also experience headaches and stuff and I am starting to wonder if my health problems are not linked to my daily use of Wireless Internet . I heard that some people can be really sensitive to it ... Does anyone else out there have the same problem ???? It's really starting to worry me. I started changing my diet a while ago but my problem still isn't gone. Before moving to this current school I'm at , I didn't have any problem and we didn't use WIRELESS INTERNET there .. That's the only think I can think of regarding my current health issues right now .. If you have any hints , Please help

What happens if Im allergic to weed? Can I be allergic to weed?

Question 1
What happens if Im allergic to weed? Can I be allergic to weed?...  Okay so after every time I smoke I weeze and I can't breathe as well and my nose in runny and I have a lot of flem in my throat. I stop smoking and it goes away for some time then I do it again and it's back. Sooo Im probably allergic right? What happens if I keep smoking? Anything severe?

Answers
1)   You die and yes its your body making the wrong anti-body when a foreign substance enters it. So you can be allergic to anything.

You might have known this if you took more time studying then smoking weed. - fsu_csu

2)   It sounds like you might have asthma. I have never heard of anyone being allergic but I suppose it is possible. However your symptoms sound more like asthma than an allergic reaction to me. If it IS asthma then it depends on how badly you have it. I know people with mild asthma who smoke, but I know other people with severe asthma that have nearly died and it wasn't even from smoking. It just depends on how badly you have it. Try making a batch of brownies or something and see if you feel the same way after consuming it in a different form. If you don't feel the same way then you know it is from your body's reaction to smoke and not an allergic reaction. - AshCatSilver

3)   so dont smoke it you idiot - The Fighter

4)   I agree with the above poster. You may have asthma, and should see a doctor to find out. And if the only time it flares up is when you smoke pot--don't smoke. - ♥Instantkarma♥♫

5)   Wheezing after smoking can be normal. The increased mucous production could stem from several ideas. First, you inhale toxic chemicals into your lungs and your lungs try to dilute (make the phlegm) and expel the phlegm (hopefully with the toxins, kinda like someone that gets pulled out of a fire). Second this could be something that triggers asthma (same idea with the phlegm but now the small little paths inside your lungs swell and get smaller and that's where you get your wheezes from). The bronchoconstriction (wheezes/ little tubes getting smaller) and the addition of the phlegm ( making the smaller little tubes even smaller). As for your allergy idea, it is possible as marijuana is a pollen producing plant. If you do have an allergy it will get worse over time and happen more rapidly after each exposure. With allergies, in addition to the symptoms you mentioned you could expect (not all of them always): itchyness, hives (little swollen red or white bumps on your skin), red/flushed skin, swollen eyes/face.throat and trouble breathing. So if you keep smoking it could get worse or you could just be high and thinking everything is worse than it is (paranoia sound familiar?). My official advice though is that if you do something bad to your body and the reaction you get is bad... its probably bad. - Doctorish

Question 2
When you hear a ringing in your ear, what exactly are you hearing?...  Obviously it's not ringing, there are no bells or triangles, it just sounds like that. Is it an actual sound, or just in your mind. I currently have a perforated eardrum and the ringing is driving me mad.

Answers
1)   u going death - Ted

2)   this is called Tinnitis - Tonka wong

3)   I believe it is an actual sound.
"In order to understand the most common way in which tinnitus occurs, we must venture inside the ear. Sounds in the air cause pressure waves to vibrate your ear drum when they reach your ears. This motion is translated into pressure changes in the fluid behind the ear drum, and deep in the ear canal, tiny structures called stereocilia bend and tilt in response. These stereocilia are attached to hair cells (no relation to the hair on your head—these particular hair cells are sensory cells named for their fuzzy appearance). In reaction to the swaying stereocilia, the hair cells depolarize and release a neurotransmitter. Your brain finally receives this input from your ears by way of the auditory nerve and interprets these signals as sound.

But when stereocilia are damaged, for example if they’ve been bent out of shape by repeated exposure to loud sounds like gunfire or heavy construction, then this process doesn’t work as it should. " - Anonymoose

4)   I have the same problem when things are too quiet, especially while sleeping. I find fans to be really helpful - Anthony

my scalp itches like mad some times
does any one know what it its
i havent got nits ive had my head checked for that

Answers
1)   I don't personally now what to answer but if i were you i would get it checked by your GP hope it gets better though - HaF4LyF

2)   its because you're getting a dry scalp, meaning dandruff

and because you itch you make ur scalp bleed, which then turns into a scap, and because you say ur always itching, you get rid of the scab by itching it off which then forms a new scab

you should try using anti-dandruff shampoo (e.g. head and shoulders) which should help cure the dandruff
and get one which is to 'soothe' the scalp, making it less itchy

or if you want, you can try massaging oil in your hair and leaving it for an hour, then washing out, to help soothe and cure the scalp

hope ive helped !! :) - lychee

2)   Your eczema could actually be a skin fungus.Try some clortrimazole on it. B-Vitamins are help ful for eczema also. - ,,,,,,

3)   I have eczema and so does my daughter.

Take some time and sdo some research. It will explain that eczema cannot be cured. It is maybe passed down through your genetic make-up.

The best thing I can advise is for you to:
Pamper your skin daily. That means once you step out the shower donot dry yourself off with a towel. In doing so will make you loose all the moisture from your skin that you have gained from the shower.

Use lotion that is made for dry irritated sensitive skin. Eucerin, Aveeno, Nivea are great lotions to use.

And also, if you are prone to a lot of stress your eczema can be triggered from that too. So stay calm.

can 9 pills of advil kill someone?...  I took 9 pills of advil 5 mins ago .. so will I die? or what will happen?

3)   before i go into detail about the potency of advil please tell me why you took so much advil to begin with? was it an attempted suicide or was it an "accident". i put this in quotes because i wonder how it could be an accident, but to answer your question, no advil is not going to kill but the effect may be much worse.

I am not an unhappy person, but my wife, who works as a head nurse in an intensive care unit always tells me that if i choose to off myself never to use advil and i will tell you why.

Advil does not contain any kind of chemical that will kill you, instead it will horribly damage your liver, kidneys etc. people who attempt suicide with advil end up in hospital beds for years before the cold hand of death takes them away. so, no it will not kill you, BUT FOR GODS SAKE GET TO THE HOSPITAL!

P.S if you do want to kill yourself, as i see that as the only reason you would have taken so much advil im not going to tell you not to do it, that you have so many people who love you because i dont know you. its your life, if you want to die, die just DO NOT take advil - Nick

4)   You shouldn't take more than, hmm, I think 3 every 4 hours. What's done is done, though, and I don't think it will kill you. Don't do that again, though, because I think it breaks down your liver*.

*That might be Tylenol. If it doesn't, then it affects the kidneys. - Bagoosa

2)   Breathing slowly can reduce heart rate. Breath in slowly hold your breath for a few seconds (do not try to forcibly hold it for longer than it is comfortable) and then breath out slowly. You may count from 1 to 10 or more while breathing in and out. If you suffer from supraventricular tachycardia trying to blow with your mouth and nostrils closed can bring down the heart rate. Question 1
what is best medicine to clear mucus in the throat?...  Suffering for many years because of t this throat congestion/mucus. kindly advice best remedy for this.

Answers
1)   to barf and hope it cums out - Matt

2)   There can be many causes of mucus in the throat such as colds, allergies, gastroesophageal reflux and sinus infections. Throat mucus can be uncomfortable, make it difficult to swallow, cause constant throat-clearing or even drain into the stomach, causing nausea and bellyaches.

Step 1
Add a pinch of salt to warm water and gargle. You can do this multiple times a day.

Step 2
Drink some hot tea with honey to soothe your throat and break up mucus.

Step 3
Use a humidifier to add moisture to the air and help break up the congestion.

Step 4
Take vitamin C to help boost your immune system to fight off sickness. Eat oranges.

Step 5

Step 6
Avoid spicy foods, especially near bedtime, if the throat mucus is being caused by gastroesophageal reflux.

3)   Check out this site. www.Buteyko.com. I did 5 years ago and it's kept me off meds for my emphysema although it is mainly for asthma. - frogholler9

4)   When your child suffers from asthma attacks, you may become frightened when he begins wheezing and struggles with his breathing. In order to stay calm and not frighten your child further, it is imperative that you and the pediatrician develop a treatment plan to stop asthma attacks and to prevent future ones

Step 1
Develop an Asthma Action Plan for your child with her pediatrician, which will cover daily medications, such as the preventive medicines and their dosages and times taken. It also focuses on what triggers to avoid, and when to notify the doctor in case of an emergency.

Step 2
Control the triggers that may be worsening your child's asthma. If the pet dander from the family dog sets it off and you cannot bear to get rid of it, then keep the dog off the furniture or carpets and out of your child's bedroom. Keep her away from mold and pollen by keeping the windows closed during allergy season and keeping her inside from late morning until early afternoon when the counts are most prevalent.

Step 3
Stop an immediate asthma attack, with bronchodilators, quick-relief medicine for coughing, wheezing and breathing problems. While these medications come in other forms, most asthma sufferers use a rescue inhaler, most commonly known as Albuterol.

Step 4
Select preventative daily medication for your child to control his asthma. Intal is less potent than other preventative steroid inhalers, so some doctors prefer it for children. It can be used as an inhaler or administered through a nebulizer, 2 puffs, 3 times a day. If you prefer a steroid inhaler like Flovent, make sure your child uses his rescue inhaler first, and to rinse his mouth out with water to avoid thrush. Often a pediatrician may prescribe Singulair, an anti-inflammatory pill, along with an inhaler as a preventative course.

Step 5
Record your child's symptoms in a daily log. They have been controlled, if he has been able to participate in all of his everyday activities, has only had to only use his rescue inhaler one to two times a week, and his wheezing has not woken him more than once a month.

Step 6
Take your child to the pediatrician for doctor checkups one to twice a month, so that the doctor check your child's symptom's and check her breathing using the peak flow meter.

Step 7
Track your child's breathing at home, after the doctor shows you how to use the peak flow meter. Have your child take a deep breath, then blow into the tube, so that you can decipher how well his lungs are functioning by how much air he can blow in a second.

Step 8
Call the doctor or the emergency services if the rescue inhaler is not controlling an asthma attack or if your child's score on the peak flow meter drops below 50% of her best number. - TEDDY WONG

Question 2
Is it likely for me to get hiv this way?...  Is it likely for me to get hiv this way?

Okay, so I was asked to help with setting up before church today so I did. After it was over, I was meeting some new people since it was my 1st time doing it. I was meeting people and had to shank some hands. For some reason reason there was guy I'm was really worried about. The problem is that I have a cut on my hand caused by my cat. I probably have gotten it before 2:00 pm. This hand shake took place a little bit after 7:20. I don't think I saw him have a cut on his hand, but what if he did have a bleeding cut and the blood got into my cut. Would I get aids if the cut closed off(stopped bleeding), and his blood got on the cut? Sadly I forgot to check if my hand had blood on it after I shooke his hand, before I washed it with soap...

Question 5
Why am I thirsty and tired?...  For about a month now, I've been waking up for school (sometimes in a sweat no matter how cold it is) and I'm REALLY thirsty. I usually have a glass of something before I go to bed; I don't drink coffee and haven't drunk a soda in a while. Everything I've been drinking is healthy, OJ, milk, and other juices.

I've never felt like this before I'll feel like I haven't had anything to drink in days...

I'm in MMA, Brazilian Jiu jitsu, Muay Thai kickboxing, and some condition camp. I practice every day and lately I've started to become winded easily and tired. Also I can't help but sleep more and more, even if I get 13 hours of sleep on a weekend I'll still feel tired and sleep more throughout the day

I'm hungry all the time, but I'm 17 so that's understandable I mean teens eat a lot, right?

Also my weight is fluctuating between 125 and 130, Idk if that means anything.

I'm 5' 7" my dad thinks I'm going through a grow spurt...

How do i get rid of Dandruff?

Question 1
How do i get rid of Dandruff?...  I hate having these embarassing white flakes in my hair, and my hair is falling cuz of dandruff please help!!

Answers
1)   2 green tea bags (used), just message them in your scalp when you take a shower - Max

2)   Hey Try T-Gel. I use it all the time and it works like a charm. - ilove_twilightmovie08

3)   Proprietary anti dandruff shampoos contain an ingredient that will lessen the severity of the flakes or tiny white specs, but if this is severe you may be best with a referral to a dermatologist where stronger preparations can be obtained with far better results. - Mismobismo®™

4)   Dandruff treatment using Fenugreek Seeds

The use of fenugreek seeds is one of the most important remedies in the treatment of dandruff. Two tablespoons of these seeds should be soaked overnight in water and ground into a fine paste in the morning. This paste should be applied all over the scalp and left for half an hour. The hair should then be washed thoroughly with soap-nut (ritha) solution or acacia concinna.
Dandruff treatment using Lime

The use of a teaspoon of fresh lime juice for the last rinse, while washing the hair, is another useful remedy. This not only leaves the hair glowing but also removes stickiness and prevents dandruff.
Dandruff treatment using Green Gram Powder

A valuable prescription for removal of dandruff is the use of green gram powder. The hair should be washed twice a week with two tablespoons of this powder mixed with half a cup of curd.
Dandruff treatment using Beet

Beets have been found useful in dandruff. Both tops and roots should be boiled in water and this water should be massaged into the scalp with the finger tips every night. White beet is better for this purpose.
Dandruff treatment using Snake Gourd

The juice of snake gourd has been found beneficial in the prevention and treatment of dandruff. The juice should be rubbed over the scalp for this purpose.
Dandruff treatment using Other Remedies

Dandruff can be removed by massaging the hair for half an hour with curd which has been kept in the open for three days, or with a few drops of lime juice mixed with indian gooseberry juice every night, before going to bed. Another measure which helps to counteract dandruff is to dilute cider vinegar with an equal quantity of water and dab this on to the hair with cotton wool inbetween shampooing. Cider vinegar added to the final rinsing water after shampooing also helps to disperse dandruff.

Dietaries for Dandruff
Dandruff : Home Remedies suggested by users
All-fruit diet with three meala a day of juicy fruits

Diet plays an important role in the treatment of dandruff. To begin with, the patient should resort to an all-fruit diet for about five days and take three meals a day of juicy fruits.
Avoid citrus fruits, bananas, tinned fruits

Citrus fruits, bananas, dried, stewed, or tinned fruits should not be taken.
Well-balanced diet

After the all-fruit diet, the patient can gradually adopt a well-balanced diet, with emphasis on raw foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables. Further short periods of an all-fruit diet for three days or so may be necessary at monthly intervals till the skin's condition improves.
Avoid strong tea/coffee, pickles, refined and processed foods

Meats, sugar, white flour, strong tea or coffee, condiments, pickles, refined and processed foods should all be avoided.

Other Dandruff treatments
Keep hair and scalp clean to avoid accumulation of dead cells

The foremost consideration in the treatment of this disorder is to keep the hair and scalp clean so as to minimise the accumulation of dead cells.
Hair should be brushed daily to improve circulation

The hair should be brushed daily to improve the circulation and remove any flakiness. The most effective way to brush the hair is to bend forward from the waist with the head down towards the ground, and brush from the nape of the neck towards the top of the head. The scalp should also be thoroughly massaged everyday, using one's finger tips and working systematically over the head. This should be done just before or after brushing the hair. Like brushing, this stimulates the circulation, dislodges dirt and dandruff, and encourages hair growth. Exposure of the head to the rays of the sun is also a useful measure in the treatment of dandruff.
Warm-water enema

During the first five days of the treatment when the patient takes an all-fruit diet, a warm-water enema should be taken daily to cleanse the bowels. Simultaneously, an attempt should be made to keep the body in good health. - hmmm....

5)   Shave it all out and let it grow back. - [HIDDEN]

6)   Please regularly apply Coconut oil in your hair and use shampoo which contains herbs like "SHIKAKAI" ans "AMLA" - RAKESH

Question 2
Do I have hypoglycemia?...  I was in mass and stared shaking, my heart beat was going faster, I felt weak, nausea, my asthma was bad and went I got home I had horrible chills. Since is lent I have been fasting so eating less and gave up all sugar. Yesterday I felt the same but now it's that time of the month. I had meat and it didn't make better, so I decided to have something sweet and I felt so much better. I was wondering what could I have. I have to go to the doctor either way. Thank you.

Answers
1)   Only your doctor can determine if you have hypoglycemia, they will do a glucose tolerance test and it will show your sugar levels. - Julie

2)   Your problem is most likely hypoglycemia due to fasting. Yes, sugar helped because when your blood sugar is low you need carbohydrate, not protein. Stop fasting, cut out refined sugar but eat fruit. Definitely get a blood test but I think your problem is easily corrected by a normal diet. - ExeneC

3)   You possibly might have an issue with your blood count when you go on a major change in your diet. example when you have thanksgiving dinner you would feel tired, draugy, and lazy after a major change in your diet. I'm no doctor, and probably is a good check with the doc wouldn't hurt. - Paul

4)   Yes these are symptoms of hypoglycemia due to your fasting from sugar or sweet drinks.

It's good you want to fast for Lent but not to the point of harming yourself, I don't think the Lord wants you to do that.
Basically, a sacrifice is to give up foods that you like, and if you follow the spiritual aspect, to give up bad habits like smoking, drinking, and foul speech and trying to be courteous, loving and helpful during this period. Also to spend more time praying and reading the word of God are more important.

Read Isaiah 58, it explains in detail "True fasting".

Be blessed - John L

After using a certain type of makeup/remover, the skin around my face got irritated and turned red with lots of "bums" along with itchiness at times. Now i am frustrated and confused; i stopped using that type of makeup/remover right after the irritation. It's been about 4-5 days since my skin got irritated, can anyone tell me what to do to completely erase the "bums" and redness and irritation?????(no makeup application.) plss help!

If I recall correctly, you can use extra virgin olive oil to remove your make-up. - Ta-Zu (&Miku)

2)   hi,i suggest you see a dermatologist, youre allergic to that particular makeup remover, the doctor will tell you how to get rid of those bumps with a prescribed cream. - delta wings.

3)   You should not use this make up /remover again, as you said you have done. You can then use a very short course of low strength steroid cream available from the pharmacist if you ask. Do not get into eye and only use for a few days as it can thin the skin if used for too long. This should dampen down what sounds like a local irritation or allergic reaction. - Happy

4)   Stop using it switch to using something natural like extra virgin olive oil. yes olive oil! It really works and its not full of harsh chemicals. - Hillary

People are made of water. It'd be like saying someone is allergic to oxygen. How would they be alive. - BlueTyphoid

2)   There WERE.. Their dead now :D - Jymm

3)   I remember seeing something about people allergic to certain types of water, such as tears, on their skin. I don't see how you could be completely allergic to pure water though. - Tiffany

4)   The human body is 70% water so no it wouldn't be allergic to water but the stuff that is put in water by the government is harmful. They load it down with Florine, Chlorine, Lye and Salt plus who knows what other toxic waste they decide to dump in it. Fluoridation is what Adolph Hitler did to the drinking water of Nazi Germany in order to make the people docile enough to take orders from him and our government is doing the same thing to us. Fluoridation of water has been outlawed in many other nations but our Food and Drug Administration says dump it in the water. Cats and Dogs will not even drink city tap water. They drink water that has aired out a while in the toilet because they smell the chlorine and other toxins. Our bodies dehydrate because we can not absorb the complex molecules of toxic mess we make of our drinking water. We develop acidosis and begin to be eaten alive from the inside and get acid reflux while we sleep. The water we need to clean our bodies and get rid of waste can no longer do the job. Many folks replace drinking water with sodas and they make the problem of too much acid in their bodies even worse. The acidosis can cause all kinds of sickness and allergies to many other things our weakened bodies can no longer fend off.

I have a Durastill Water Distiller I bought 25 years ago. I hope to keep it running and hope to possibly get the latest water purification equipment for future health benefits for my family. - garden guy

how do people get cancer?

Question 1
how do people get cancer?...

Answers
1)   aids - Peter Vaselle

2)   It just happens. - John

3)   smoking
asbestos - Jordan

4)   It depends on the type of cancer.
Like, skin cancer is caused by the sun mostly,
and other cancers like lung cancers are obviously caused by smoking. - Taylor

5)   LOL @ Jordan's answer. Cancer doesn't have to be caused by anything. It's a naturally occurring disease. We all have to die some day from something. Consider it nature's way of thinning the herd. - Harry Ball

6)   u catch it from other people - me

7)   Cancer is not a single disease, but many different diseases which have different etiologies and attack different parts of the body. Some are caused primarily by external sources of cell damaging influences, like asbestos, solar radiation, nuclear radiation, tobacco smoke, or a wide range of modern chemicals. But one's genetic makeup is also a factor and family histories show tendencies to certain types of cancer, such as breast cancer, which can only be explained by genetic endowment.

Diseases which lower the immune system, such as HIV-Aids, cause susceptibility to certain cancers, such as Kaposi's sarcoma. And other diseases which are not cancers, such as ulcerative colitis, so damage the tissues that cancers occur as a direct result of having a non-cancerous illness.

And old age is a causative factor as well, just as it is in Alzheimer's. The older one becomes, the less resistance one has to abnormal forms of cell division, which is what all cancers have in common. So cancer incidence increases with age.

This is just a brief overview. You can Google, "etiology of cancer" and get much more info. - sleddog382000

Answers
1)   drink some cranberry juice for a week or so and see if that helps. of course going to the doctor would not hurt either. - Pete

2)   Sometimes, there is an anatomical problem. The advice given by others is correct and all of these can cause UTI's. If you have not gone to a urologist yet, that should be your next visit so that you can find out how to prevent these and what may be causing them. Also, if your urine has been cultured by your physician, that too should give an idea as to where the source of the infection is coming from. If it grows out E-coli - that is contamination of the area from stool. You might ask your physician what germ keeps growing from your urine cultures and then ask what else you can do to prevent these. - J B

3)   Have you tried cranberry juice or cranberry extract?
I have the same problem and the best advice that has worked has been drinking cranberry juice and taking cranberry extract supplements. If you can, try an all-natural juice that is 100% cranberry juice with no grape or apple juice blended in. Hanson's and R.W. Knudson make cranberry juice that is 100% cranberry juice with no corn syrup added. I'll add the link to their products here:

http://www.rwknudsenfamily.com/

http://www.hansens.com/

I tend to water my juice down as it can be too strong for me, about 1/3 cup water to 2/3 cup juice. This juice is great as a mixer, by the way.
If the juice is hard to swallow, cranberry extract herbal supplements may be easier. You can find those among the vitamins at stores like Trader Joe's, Vitamin World, and even now in the vitamins at Wal-Mart or your local supermarket.
As for your urinary "trigger", I can't tell if you are a guy or a girl but Desitin is a rub on salve that is designed to help with babies diaper rashes, it also works well for helping the pain and soreness for UT infections. It takes a few days, but it helps me a lot when I get an infection down there. Desitin is found in the baby section or the diaper section next to the baby lotions. A little dab on your spot will do you. Rub in a spot of Desitin on your trigger spot at least 2x a day until your soreness clears up. Then have it on hand for future breakouts.
Both the Desitin and the cranberry juice will help clear you up. By taking cranberry supplements or drinking the juice daily you should prevent UT infections over the long-term. I've been drinking cranberry juice for the past 20+ years and it's prevented many many UT infections. I still get them periodically but both the Desitin and the cranberry juice help me every time.
Good luck and hope you heal. - enn

4)   Sounds like you have gotten the standard run down and all those things help so you should be doing them. As a RN in surgery I have noticed that for differing reasons the urethra can be positioned sorta up in the vagina which can cause lots of infections for the person. Also you could have a fistula(opening) of some type that is allowing bacteria to invade your urinary tract. UTI's are serious business and if you are having them this bad you really need a doctor to take you serious and go beyond writing a script to cure the UTI and on to solving the mystery of why you are getting them. I would think there is at the very least something you could be given to prevent all the recurrences.
Here is a link you may find heplfull

Question 3
why do people think moles/beauty marks are ugly.?...  if they are the size of a pencil eraser. i mean that is not even big. and if it is flat. i think they are super sexy....why do some people gross out??

just want diffrent opinions?

Answers
1)   Different strokes for different folks.

Like, everyone has different tastes. Some people like or dislike freckles, or types of noses, or any kind of thing. There's nothing actually gross about beauty marks, it's just a personal preference. :)

If you're in highschool, people are super-crazy-hyperaware of their own looks, so they get really aware of everyone else's, too. That's probably why they get grossed out, instead of just being like, "eh, that is/isn't my style." They'll mellow out as they get older. - L T

2)   Maybe theyre worried hair will grow out of it - Bill Cosby's brother

3)   Because most of the time they are :(
Some people can pull them off, but there are a lot of so called 'beauty marks' out there that I just want to take a napkin to and wipe off.

But if they're something that you find sexy, more power to you. Don't let anyone tell you what you should and shouldn't find attractive. - 1109

4)   I'm not fond of them, have some myself though. Comes down to preference. - Arther

In late December he got scarlet fever leaving him some little rash like bumps everywhere. He had a sore bump on his private about 3 weeks and it looked like a wound but because of thinking it was scarlet fever rash that had previously been there, we ignored it during oral. Now it has healed and he saws it looks just like pictures he has seen of syphilis and I have has a bumpy back rash for a week now. So my question is, Is it possibly syphilis?

and raped my mother =) = ) =) ) ) - Adam

7)   One of the most common sexually transmitted disease in the world today is the Syphilis. syphilis is caused by the bacterium known as Treponema pallidium. This infection is considered as the great imitator because some of its symptoms are just like the symptoms of other disease.

Syphilis is passed from person to person through direct contact with a syphilis sore. Sores occur mainly on the external genitals, vagina, anus, or in the rectum. Sores also can occur on the lips and in the mouth. Transmission of the organism occurs during vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Pregnant women with the disease can pass it to the babies they are carrying. Syphilis cannot be spread through contact with toilet seats, doorknobs, swimming pools, hot tubs, bathtubs, shared clothing, or eating utensils.

A blood test is another way to determine whether someone has syphilis. Shortly after infection occurs, the body produces syphilis antibodies that can be detected by an accurate, safe, and inexpensive blood test. A low level of antibodies will likely stay in the blood for months or years even after the disease has been successfully treated. Because untreated syphilis in a pregnant woman can infect and possibly kill her developing baby, every pregnant woman should have a blood test for syphilis.

Having syphilis once does not protect a person from getting it again. Following successful treatment, people can still be susceptible to re-infection. Only laboratory tests can confirm whether someone has syphilis. Because syphilis sores can be hidden in the vagina, rectum, or mouth, it may not be obvious that a sex partner has syphilis.

To prevent getting and re-infection of syphilis, one must have an STD testing routinely to keep his/her sexual health free from any opportunistic infection that may result to body impairment. STD testing is done confidentially and proven to give accurate and reliable results. - Jason

Well I had a sip of her drink thinking it was somebody elses who said I could have some. I had one small sip and although I drank it, about a minute later I rinsed my mouth with water and spat it out before drinking a load of tap water.
Now I feel a little ill like I have a bit of a sore throat and a runny nose and i KNOW it's phschological since I'm worried but it is really worrying me now...

I am an african american male and have dark spots just above my both ankles.?...  This has been happening for the last few years. The spots are in varying sizes and are just below the skin surface. They have been slowly increasing and look like blood vessles that may have burst. Also cuts and bruises on my legs take an abnormally long time to heal and leave really dark scars. I am 47 years old, 5'10" tall and weigh about 240lbs. I am not physically active and have a high percentage of body bat around my torso. The spots around my ankles make my lower legs look dark and discoloured. I am wondering if this is a sign of poor leg circulation or a high blood sugar level.

Question 5
Type B Influenza question?...  I started feeling bad in the weekend and on Monday I was diagnosed with Type B Influenza. I hadn't had stomach problems, but yesterday I suddenly vomited, 3 times in total; and today I woke up with my throat feeling a million times more sore, I feel awful i can barely swallow and talk. What can I do?

Answers
1)   You don't mention if your doctor has given you antibiotics. If not maybe you need to go back and ask him for some. Try gargling with warm salt water for the sore throat. As for the vomiting do not have any dairy products until the vomiting stops. - matron

2)   Antibiotics (i.e. antibacterials) will do nothing for Influenza as it is a virus and not a bacteria. The only thing you can do now so late in the course is treat the symptoms. Tylenol alternated with Ibuprofen/Advil/Aleve/Motrin usually works pretty well for the pain, sore throat, and muscle aches. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of clear liquids. Don't force yourself to eat, but when you do start feeling hungry, start with bland, easily digested food first that are low in fat/grease. Also, get plenty of rest and let time do its trick. - Melissa

I am a complete virgin in every way- can i have genital herpes?

Question 1
I am a complete virgin in every way- can i have genital herpes?...  hi! i am a virgin who has never had sex and never had sexual contact with anyone beyond french kissing and breast contact. for a couple of years vie noticed i got these tiny little bumps (very small- probably less than a millimeter in diameter) on corners of my lips- so small that no one else ever noticed them. being concerned with herpes, i searched online and was told that it was most likely a harmless bump that occurs from time to time in young adults or teenagers, (and that is apparently fairly common) and that these bumps should go away as i grow older. (since they were so small- the size of pin heads- i was assured it could not be herpes.) about 4 weeks ago, i was putting on underwear and noticed a bump on my upper genital area. fearing the worst- i immediately checked it out and saw a bump, probably 2 or 3 millimeters in diameter, that looked like a genital wart i saw in sex education classes. there were two other bumps in my genital area. the area was tender for a couple days before the bumps appeared. my problem is that the last boy i kissed was SIX MONTHS AGO- when the bump showed up i hadnt had ANY sexual contact for 5 months, and in my whole lifetime have never done anything but kiss (with tongue), and been touched in the breast area. i have never been touched sexually by anyone, and i have never touched any one in a sexual manner. is this herpes?? how could i have gotten it?? as i said- there was no kissing for at least 6 months before the sores appeared. they have no reappeared and im wondering how this could have happened. does anyone know??
i also wanted to add that ide prefer to avoid going to a gynocologist- i dont want the first person to touch me down there to be a doctor that i dont know, and since i am a virgin i dont want to have to explain to my parents why i am going to a gyno when im not even sexually active to begin with . . .
thanks for ALL the answers by the way they have been incredibly helpful!!

Answers
1)   if you really are a complete virgin then you should not have genital herpes unless you like to rub nasty stuff on your vagina.

answer this.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100223202756AAYWusn - face.egbdf.

2)   Technically you can, but you don't.

They are sebaceous glands that are out of place, totally harmless. I know because I have them and wondered the same thing. One day I stumbled on the answer. If I find the medical term I'll add it to my answer.

As a whole your skin can do some pretty weird stuff, that isn't necessarily bad. The only thing to settle the issue is to go to your OB/GYN or a dermatologist. But odds are you are fine. - Mr Answers

3)   You can get herpes from saliva from a glass if that saliva was contaminated with teh herpez - A = A

4)   You got a Cole Sore, they are from not wipping your mouth.. - Gahrili Krov

5)   i believe you should go to the doctor and get this check out. I don't know anyway how unless there a freak chance that you somehow caught it off something other then std. I am very sorry for your misfortunes. - Peter N

6)   the best answer is to go to your doctor! Since you havn't had any contact in your genital area, you def. don't have any STD. But herpes can be transmitted by kissing, so that may be an issue on your lips, but it dosn't sound like it. You prob. don't have a major problem, but again, ask you Dr, just to put your mind at ease...good luck! - danceconcepts06

7)   I would suggest going to a doctor during your next outbreak;

With that said however, you can get either type 1 or type 2 herpes with little to no sexual contact - that is to say, sexual intercourse. Herpes does require touching however to spread, so someone will have to had kissed you and exchanged bodily fluids with you in some way for you to have gotten herpes. This does include kissing.

Cold sore blisters are the most common, and have been passed by causual kissing through relatives, friends, and lovers in the past so are less of a social stigma for people. The 'other' type of herpes appear as small open sores in the corner of your mouth -- this is the sexual type of herpes.

For more information, read the links below. - Keyboard Cowboy

8)   Genital herpes is one of the common sexually transmitted disease which increases the risk of HIV infection because HIV can enter the body more easily whenever there's a break in the skin (such as a sore) during unprotected sexual contact. In addition, if a pregnant woman with genital herpes has an active infection during childbirth, the newborn baby is at risk for getting herpes infection. Genital herpes is acquired by sexual contact with someone who is infected. Genital recurrences after the first outbreak seem to be linked to stress, fatigue, lack of sleep, menstruation, and genital friction (new sexual partner after a time of no sex), although more research is definitely needed about this subject. Usually recurrences are more frequent in the first year after the initial outbreak.

Genital herpes can be spread through direct contact with these sores, but it also can be spread even if you do not see a sore. Genital HSV-1 is spread mainly through oral sex with a partner who has a sore on the mouth or lips, but some cases may result from vaginal or anal sex. HSV-1 is much less likely to cause repeat outbreaks of genital herpes than HSV-2.

The virus is caused by the herpes simplex virus or the HSV-2 virus and is highly contagious. The disease can be transmitted via the exposed raw skin of the person to his or her sexual partner. Once you have sexual intercourse with an infected partner, the infection will start to manifest its symptoms three to twenty days after sexual contact. When it comes to genital herpes news, up to now there are no known cure for genital herpes. Up to this day, this is considered incurable but a manageable disease.

Practicing safer sex with a regular std testing at the std testing centers are the best ways to reduce the risk of infection. Local std testing centers offer accurate and reliable STD tests that comes in many ways. Make your health as a top priority, keep STD testing a habit. - Jason

9)   The best thing to do is ask a doctor. I ran to the gyno once over a bump and it turned out to be a pimple, but I was totally freaked out at first. It was comforting to know it was just a pimple.

Most likely you have a simple pimple or other harmless bump. A nurse or doctor could most likely quickly ease your mind. It is VERY unlikely you have an std if you've never had sex. I have heard of rare occasions though, where an infant was born to a mother with an STD and unfortunately acquired an STD from their mother. This is very rare but does happen.

When I had a cold sore on my lip I was told to wash my hands any time I touched it, because rubbing my eyes after touching the sore could spread the infection to my eyes just by rubbing and touching. I have no idea if similar rubbing and touching without hand washing could transmit it elsewhere, but it is worth asking a nurse. - junebug21

Question 2
When should I go get tested for HIV if I performed oral?...  I performed oral on a guy I didn't know, and I swallowed. He's said he's clean, but I'm still nervous. If I blew him today, when would be an ideal time to go get tested where the results would be 100% accurate?
I've never blown a guy before and I'm not sexually active.
I should've said I was NOT sexually active before blowing him, nor will I be afterwards.
But I don't wanna go test tomorrow only to have it negative, yet have it too early to show.

Answers
1)   Right after you blow the person who answers below me. - Nestor M

2)   ugh...go brush yo teeth - Ben

3)   Sounds like you're sexually active if you sucked some guy off AND swallowed, but that aside you should really get tested as soon as possible. The longer you wait the worse it could get. - larry

4)   HIV can remain undetectable for a couple months to years. I'd say get tested every 2-3 months if you remain active. And use protection.

And you may not have been active before, but if you performed oral on someone, that means you are sexually active now. - Shawn

5)   well swallowing makes no difference. but i guess the answer would be seek your doctor asap. u never blowing nor being sexually active/inactive make no difference to the scenario. unless of course you had herpes in your mouth and gave them to him. i think that might be a little humorous. but seriously, seek a doc asap and let them know - Ian

6)   To be tested you really should wait 6 months after suspected possibility of infection. IT is very hard to get HIV in that manor however and is very unlikely that you would have gotten it even if he had it. Still not a good I idea to do that with someone you do not know. - babie_racer_in

7)   Many people are unclear on the risks associated with oral sex. Questions about oral sex and the risk of contracting an STD are very common in outreaches. Many people engage in unprotected oral sex, and are particularly concerned with the risks associated with not using protection.

Oral sex bring a lot of risk and become the main reason of STD infections to people. Herpes is probably the biggest STD risk during oral sex. Both strains of herpes can live in the mouth or the genitals, and particularly during outbreaks (cold sores, herpes lesions) can be passed from one place to the other. Many people have oral herpes, more than 50% of a random group of people will have antibodies to the virus (indicating some level of infection). Having oral herpes for most people is no big deal, a cold sore during times of stress or illness is usually little more than an annoyance. Genital herpes can be more complicated and uncomfortable, but there are treatments (see Herpes Fact Sheet for more info). Care should be taken so that oral herpes are not passed to anyone’s genitals. In general it is not a good idea to have unprotected oral sex while any lesions are present.

Chlamydia and gonorrhea can infect your throat, strep like symptoms, and are curable with antibiotics. These can also infect the eye, and though rare, eye infections can have serious consequences, so be careful with fluids.

HIV can be passed through unprotected oral sex, but it is more likely to be passed during unprotected penetrative sex. The infected semen/precum or vaginal fluid must enter the body through a cut or sore in the mouth or esophagus. The virus is unlikely to be passed from a person’s mouth to another person’s genitals.

To reduce the risk of infection during unprotected oral sex, limit exposure to sexual fluids and ensure that no cuts or lesions are present in mouth or on genitals. Use barrier methods — though many people feel that barrier methods detract from oral sex. Lastly, have an STD testing regularly at Local STD testing labs to complete all the preventive measures. - Jason

Question 3
should i be worried about hiv?...  Okay so about 2 weeks ago i had sex with some girl unprotected for about 30 seconds. im a 17 year old male and this was my first time unprotected. After i had sex with her everyone was taking the piss out of me, telling me that shes a total whore and sleeps with a lot of people. Earlier on tonight one of my friends made a joke that i might have hiv. this has been on my mind for the rest of the night. I'm not experiencing any hiv symptoms as of yet, and she told me that she's pretty sure that shes clean of any sti's. im too scared to get an hiv test though, because im so worried that it'll come back positive. anyone got any advice? it's 4.30 in the morning and i cant sleep cos i cant stop thinking about it.

Answers
1)   Anytime you have unprotected sex with a girl who is not a virgin, you are at risk of contracting an STD. I understand you are scared. You and this girl should get tested for HIV because it is a very serious disease without a cure!

If it comforts you, two weeks is a long time, so you probably would have had some symptoms by now if you contracted the virus. Still you NEED to get tested. Do it and you will feel better.

Also, don't always listen to your peers. Try listening to your conscience instead, especially when it comes to something serious like having sex. - Michael

2)   It can take years for someone to test positive for hiv or aids. I wish you luck. And next time don't be stupid! Wear a damn condom! Go get tested for everything else though, just in case..So when you do sleep with a girl you actually care about you don't infect her with something horrible. - Luna Rain

3)   there is always a risk when practising unprotected sex. for peace of mind get a HIV check carried out. the disease can rest unnoticed for up to ten years before suddenly erupting in some individuals but more often than not will show signs much earlier. stress and no sleep will lower bodies ability to keep its immune system up and by lowering Your guard make You potentially susceptible to problems including infections. worry won't solve anything, action will. go get tested. - chris at hornchurch

Question 5
i have a problem with my penis!!?...  i have noticed redness in the head of my penis!
what can this be?!
i masterbate so can this be from irritation?
i have also noticed that my pubic hair is not growing as fast as it used to! why is this?
i have had sex once with a girl but it was only for about 2 minutes!
she told me she didnt have any stds!

Answers
1)   seeing as you said masterbate and not sex, youre a virgin. so unless you fucked your dog i wouldnt worry about it... gross hymen - SirBloopes

2)   The redness is most likely from irritation from masturbating. If you are having any skin peeling around the tip, just apply some lotion gently and try not to jerk it. Also, try to refrain from masturbating for awhile until it goes away and you should be fine.

With your pubic hair, you have nothing to worry about. The hair is probably reacting to being trimmed, so it just doesn't grow as fast. Look on the bright side, this means less maintenance!

Just as a precaution, if you experience any urinary problems, go see a doctor because redness in any area is from increased blood flow to that area, which is sometimes the sign of infection. Be sure to keep an eye on it. - Michael
