Can you get cancer if you hold a cell-phone?...  I just won a blackberry, and I use it a lot.. I always find it in my hands, but whenever I call.. I put it on speaker..

Can you still get a brain tumor if you hold a cell-phone.. i mean its close enought to ur body.. right?

Can strep throat cause tongue and mouth soreness?...  I went to the doctor today, and was diagnosed with strep throat. But my throat is not sore at all, I can talk just fine. However, after drinking a glass of juice and following up with gargling with salt water three days ago, my entire mouth and tongue have been sore. All the sources I've checked do not list this as a symptom of strep. My questions:
~What is the cause of this?
~How can I cure it?

4)   Well, sore throat is a symptom of Strep throat, so it is completely normal. The reason your throat got sore after orange juice is because orange juice is acidic, and your throat right now is more prone to sensitivity. Just avoid anything acidic like citrus fruits. - starfire0067

why such a bad reaction with milk?...  Why can I have cheese, pizza, yoghurt etc yet if I have the smallest bit of milk in my tea, I'm ill for a few days with really sharp stomach pains so bad I can't stand up and upset stomach?

2)   It sounds like it could be a milk allergy. A milk allergy is a reaction by the body’s immune system to one or more milk proteins, so if you are able to eat cheese etc then it sounds like this is the likely reason.

3)   as far as i know you would react to all products of dairy.... however what kind of cheese do you eat and what kind of cheese is on pizza?

there is something in certain cheeses(the ones that you age, and i belive cheddar) and most yogurts that helps to naturally break downt the things that someone who is lactose intolerant cant therefor they are ok to eat... you can also eat dark chocolate. Its possible that you are eating those certain foods without knowing.

As far as the milk goes, try taking lactase enzymes(over the counter pill from any drugstore) or try lactose milk and see if you get the same results. It may be wise to see a doctor or gastro. - Cletus

Do I have the flu????????????...  Here are my symptoms: achy, cold, hot, dizzy, and my head hurts when I stand up. This sounds and feels like the flu, but the oddest thing is that I have no fever! Its not my thermometer either because I tried about 5 different ones and none said I had a fever.

3)   Fever is one of the symptoms of flu, but it is not always there!I mean you do not need to diagnose someone with flu just when they have fever.

Could you get herpes from hitting the same pipe?...  I have a friend who smoked after someone with herpes. it was a rotation of 3. She hit it first then herpes hit then someone else hit it then she hit it again. could she have gotten herpes from that? the girl was having an outbreak of what we thought was herpes but no one asked. Read the labels of any cold medication carefully to make sure you're not overdosing.

■Humidity. Cold viruses thrive in dry conditions — another reason why colds are more common in winter. Dry air also dries the mucous membranes, causing a stuffy nose and scratchy throat. A humidifier can add moisture to your home, but it can also add mold, fungi and bacteria if not cleaned properly. Change the water in your humidifier daily, and clean the unit at least once every three days.
Cold remedies: What doesn't work
The list of ineffective cold remedies is long. A few of the more common ones that don't work include:

■Antibiotics. These destroy bacteria, but they're no help against cold viruses. Avoid asking your doctor for antibiotics for a cold or using old antibiotics you have on hand. You won't get well any faster, and inappropriate use of antibiotics contributes to the serious and growing problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
■Antihistamines. Some studies have suggested minimal reduction in sneezing and nasal discharge with first-generation (sedating) antihistamines. However, results are conflicting and the benefits may not outweigh the side effects.
■Over-the-counter (OTC) cough syrups. In cold season, nonprescription cough syrups practically fly off the drugstore shelves. Some contain ingredients that may relieve coughing, but the amounts are too small to do much good and may actually be harmful for children. Many experts don't recommend their use in children. The FDA recommends that parents avoid cough medicines for children younger than age 2. They are evaluating the safety of these medications in older children. I'm getting a birthmark removed from my face. They're not knocking me out, but giving stitches. Will it hurt?...

1)   Probably not while they do the surgery, though I imagine you will feel an uncomfortable tugging, prodding, pulling, etc. Once the local anesthetic wears off, though, it will hurt quite a bit, though not agony. Make sure you take at LEAST some extra strength tylenol. And maybe for the first two days if they give you a more powerful painkiller you should take it.

My father was recently diagnosed with cancer, and has been pretty upset. I was looking for some good christia?...  books for him to read during his chemo, which he starts this month. He will be taking it for 8-10 months. I noticed several Chicken Soup books for cancer patients, survivors, and one that said having cancer has it's advantages, which is supposed to have humorous stories from cancer patient. My problem is, would it upset him to receive a Christmas gift like this? Would it just be reminding him of his illness at Christmas time?

Choosing a book for him can be best discussed by the people closest to him. But if you want my opinion, I believe that giving him a book talking directly about cancer will surround him more with thoughts rather than distract him from it. Cancer survival stories should be told to him in person as he can have a discussion and even feel like there are others who are supportive. Right now some reassurance that he is and will be fine is more important as he needs to feel positive more than anything. If I were you, I'd give him a bunch of documentaries on topics he is interested in and a portable DVD player so that his sight and hearing is constantly simulated. 5)   Lance Armstrong's book "Its not about the bike" is a good read. Not specifically Christian themed, but its not blasphemous either.

Hard to say, since I'm not your father, but the last thing I'd want to read would be more books about cancer. I'd be looking for subjects as far removed as possible. - silverbullet

6)   Believe me, there is nothing funny about having cancer, nothing period. I saw those cancer books and let them go, it would be up to my wife if she wanted to read them. Swedish Cancer Center where we had treatment had a lending library sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

Find out if something like that exists in your area, I would call them. It was and is a great place to learn about cancer and without going broke doing so. I must have read at least fifty books some informative, others inspirational, and lots of personal stories about peoples struggles and triumphs in surviving the disease. Often times the stories are not so great and the patient dies. Parents of children that passed away from cancer write them, or loving spouses write them, and those are very touching. Books like the Chicken Soup Series are pretty good, they feature lots of short stories about people's struggle and how they are winning the battle against cancer.

Some cancer's are hard to find stories of so a reference library would be nice to find. I would stay away from humor books about cancer, and try to get him something that would either temporarily take his mind away from it (Suduko Puzzle Books are great in the chemotherapy ward) or keep him comfortable (like a new pair of sheep skin slippers) slippers are great to wear when you are going through chemotherapy.

A certificate for massage would be a nice touch. My wife got one from her friend and it perked her up. Cancer diagnosis is upsetting, an early diagnosis is better than a later stage one. Either case I hope your dad does great and wins his battle with cancer.

Last Christmas we were going through chemotherapy treatment. In the end we did 27 weeks of it. Wishing you and your family a great Christmas.

4)   You are NOT FAT! If you have bones sticking out that means you are very, very skinny. Some people are naturally like that, but just to be sure you should see a doctor. What you need to do is eat at least a small portion of food at lunch. Even if you are not hungry, you still need some amount of energy in you. You need to eat AT LEAST a bagel or toast and bread in the morning. The bread is filling and the milk will help your bones become stronger. Please see the doctor very soon. If you are type 1 it doesn't matter how good the diet you will continue to get sicker. The sooner you recieve treatment the better you can avoid long term damage to your body like loss of eye sight, neuropathy, muscle loss, liver and kidney failure...ect.

For now though start lowering your sugar/carb intake to lower your levels and get to a healthier weight.

There's this Lump on my wrist?...  One day while I was in class I noticed that there was this very visible bump on my wrist. It's not the bone, because my other wrist doesn't have one. When I press on it, it feels like it's soft on the inside, but some parts of it are kind of hard. It doesn't have any color other than the normal skin color, and it just started to hurt when I press it. My skin doctor said it could be a fatty tumor, but then she said that it could also be a syst. Is it normal to feel all depressed after being diagnosed with epilepsy?...  I've now had a handful of seizures and been diagnosed. Taking Lamictal (lamotrygine) but its not yet at a high enough dose to be effective. I just want to give up everything and hide...is this just a normal response to being diagnosed?

2)   You might be feeling depressed because it's so new. I'm not sure how that seizure medication affects you, but it could be that (I take dilantin). I felt like a zombie when I first started taking that stuff, but it beat the alternative. Give it a week, and if you still feel depressed, ask your doctor about it He or she might recommend a different anti-convulsant. Or you might need to talk to somebody about how you feel..it can make all the difference in the world. - Marie

Just make sure you spend as much time with your dad as you can, tell him everything you want to tell him just treasure the moments you have left with him. I always find talking things through with my close friends helps me cope...like they say a problem shared is a problem halved. Maybe you'd prefer to write down how you're feeling in a diary instead. Either way, try not to bottle it all up because it's not healthy and the stress wouldn't be good for your baby.

6)   I was 16 years old when my dad died too, so I know exactly how you feel. My dad had cancer all over his body. He died 6th November 1981. I started my first job on the Monday, he died Friday of that week. All I can say is, tell him how you feel about him now, while he is here. You'll regret it if you don't do that. Once he has gone, allow yourself to grieve, don't be afraid to cry, scream, shout, or do whatever you feel. Let your emotions out. Once your baby is born, tell him/her about your dad, show him/her pictures, tell them stories about what your dad did, said and meant to you. Although my dad died almost 30 years ago, I still think about him now. It never stops hurting, but it does get easier.

NYC don't clean their public water supply?...  I open the cold water in my bathroom sink today and the water is the same color as urine. The hot water is pretty much clear. Is it toxic? I didn't even look at the water color and start to brush my teeth, and then I realized it's in urine color...I have family members who use it to wash face and brush teeth and didn't even notice it. Need emergency medical care but no insurance....will county hospital turn me down?...  I am having major problems...no insurance since husbands been laid off....state will give my kids medical cards but not me because of hubby. Only way they will is if we seperate. I have congestive heart failure and have bronchitis right now. Can a CBC detect if you have lupus?...  About 12 years ago i started experiencing joint pain and swelling and also had fluid in my knee and had it drained. I was checked for lupus then and it was negative but my joint pain has never fully went away. I'm plagued by it and my rheumatologist diagnosed it as reactive arthritis. I have had normal CBC's since then but i've been told lupus is hard to diagnose, but if i had it since 12 years ago wouldn't i probably be really sick by now??

I'm concerned that my ex has OCD?...  My boyfriend broke up with me about a month ago because, "He is spending too much money on college to waste his time with a relationship." He spends all of his time working; he spends much more time than the average student making sure his work is perfect. When he's not doing his work, he feels like he is wasting time. He's also excessively clean, must clean his ears frequently, and has often expressed that certain things about our relationship are "wrong" because of the age difference (he's three years older than me.)

I asked him recently if he was still in love with me. He said no. I asked him when he stopped being in love with me and he told me that it happened when he broke up with me, that he decided that our relationship was bad for him and that he shouldn't love me. I'm concerned that he may have OCD and that may be preventing him from having a healthy relationship with me. I want to help him!

There's nothing wrong with striving to make his work as good as it can be, he's clearly taking college seriously, a lot of people are slackers and just like to party and do the bare minimum effort, you should encourage him to study hard.

He thinks things in the relationship are "wrong" because they probably are to him, there might be a lot of things that annoy him, or he cant abide for very long, or get in the way of his education and work.
It sounds like he is being more mature and realistic than you, but admittedly a little in-compassionate about your feelings.

5)   It actually depends a lot on the cleanser you use. I would kindly recommend you to get Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser as this really helped me clear away my acne but the acne cream I used did a good job too. The acne cream I used was Duac and Differin. In addition, I used Neostrata Oily Skin Solution after bathing.

For the Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser, I think you should be able to get it in pharmacy if you are in countries like NY, NZ, AUS, US, UK, Germany etc. Whereas the Duac, Differin and Neostrata, you have to get it from a dermatologist.

Anyhow, don't expect quick results like clearing everything off in 3 days or 1-2 weeks time as it'll take at least months to clear off the acne and don't try to squeeze it off.

I was like you last year and it really took me quite some discipline and patience for everything to heal. But, your face will never be flawless as before anymore unless you go for Chemical Peeling which causes likely 30USD per session which is very very reasonable, rather than going for IPL.
