Can i request for my blood test to be taken from a vein in my hand?

Question 1
Can i request for my blood test to be taken from a vein in my hand?...  I have a very serious phobia of blood being taken from the vein in my arm. I throw up and shake etc.
But i am ok with blood been taken from the vein in my hand.
I have the doctors tomorrow.
Can i request for the blood to be taken from my hand rather than my arm? Would the nurse say no at all? Otherwise, id probably say no to a blood test from the arm. I just cant do it.

Answers
1)   Where ever they can find a vein is good enough. I have put them in people's neck, foot, leg, etc.. - Jerme

2)   That generally wouldn't be a problem. Frequently, when they have trouble finding a vein in the arm, they go to the back of the hand. If you explain your phobia, I wouldn't imagine them having much of an issue with it. - BostonCollin28

3)   If they take it from your arm it will be a much faster flow and they'll get out quicker than a vein in your hand. Just turn your head and don't look. Most people are fine when they don't see the needle in their arm. Most times you can't even feel it. - chebrew2000

4)   You could ask, but they prefer to take it from your arm. It's much harder for them to do it from your hand, and it HURTS more! Ouch. I have blood taken a lot, and if I had a choice, I'd get it from the arm. Sometimes it takes them 6 tries to get it from my hand. - annieandrebel

5)   It is certainly your choice to ask but I have to agree with the other posters. Having it drawn from your arm is MUCH less painful and easier access. I would think about this if I were you and give it another try in the arm. Look away, take a few deep breaths (through your nose out the mouth) and relax. It will be over before you know it. - Just Me

Question 4
sharp pain when urinating?...  I woke up this morning to go to the bathroom, and as soon as my urine started flowing smoothly I get this sharp pain in that "area" and it literally made me yelp a little cause it hurt so bad. Even after I got up out of bad that pain was still there with certain movements I make when I walk. Im thinking maybe UTI but usually when I get UTIs I just get the frequency. and Im not sexually active..so anybody might know on here?

Answers
1)   Sounds definitely like a UTI. You dont have to be sexually active to get a UTI. Its when bad bacteria enter through your urethra. - Strawberri_Chii

Question 5
Is it possible for me to get the flu even though I got the flu shot?...  I haven't gotten the swine flu shot yet (I have an appointment to get it soon) but I got the regular flu shot. I have a fever of 100.2 that went up 0.4 degrees in 40 mins (since I got up) and I am coughing (wet cough). Is it possible for me to still have the regular flu after getting the shot about 1 month ago? (I did eat breakfast and I have enough energy to do the things in the house that need to get done.)
I am a 15 year old girl.

Answers
1)   I think the regular flu isn't even around there, it you have a flu, it is most likely H1N1 swine flu. However, judging by the severity (or lack thereof) it seems to me that you caught a common cold or flu-like illness. If you have a sore throat it can be bacterial infection, bust most likely it's a cold. If the symptoms worsen to chills, nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, then you should consult your doctor about it, these symptoms indicate that the swine flu may be the culprit. - Zic

2)   First of I would like to advise you not to take the Swine Flu vaccine shot!
It been proven that the swine flu is actually much milder than the normal seasonal flu. Did you know that Aspirin kills 400% more people than the swine flu!

Now to your problem: It's pretty normal to feel sick after getting a vaccine shot. The vaccine shots mess with your immune level (and the swine flu shot does the same, but worse)
I would advise you to go and see your doctor.

And again for your own good do NOT take the swine flu shot! - DefJay
