How long would it take to find out if you had an S.T.D.? Symptoms, I mean, and what are the symptoms?...  How long would it take to find out if you had an S.T.D.? Symptoms, I mean, and what are the symptoms?

Answers
1)   Which STD are you talking about?
There are many STDs with different symptoms.. - asvsmstte

2)   depends on the std

some people have them and dont even know it

read the wikipedia article on HPV. Did you know as of Oct 10 2009, that 91% of sexual active people had at least 1 form of HPV? They say by Oct of 2010 they expect the number to be above 98% - General T

3)   It all depends on the type of STD you have. They don't all have the same symptoms. You can be tested for HIV and it may come back negative, but you may find out a few months later that you're positive. Genital herpes on the other hand you'll notice what looks like cold sores on your privates... it's different for all STDs. - Maximus A

4)   There are ALOT of STD's out there and some even unknown ones too. could take a long time to figure out if you have one. Be safe use a condom. - Lobas13

5)   it depends on you as a person. now people can walk around with gonarrhea with no symptoms and it will remain like that. so the best way to know if you have one, is to get checked...you do not HAVE to get symptoms at all with STDs but usually the symptoms start ill say a week after contracted, but again, its different for all people...some a month some a day....so its all over the board, protect yourself and you wouldnt have to worry about it period. - Serious Answers Only

6)   Your best bet is to ask your doctor about that, and he/she can give you an idea of how long it would take to screen for them. They may also be able to give you immediate tests, depending on what they are screening you for. Some symptoms for STD's never show up (people can be completely unaware that they have the disease), so definately visit your doctor! - ash14sc

7)   If you get cold sores you have herpes type 1 just like the majority of the population. If you get genital sores you have type 2, like 1 out of 5. If you are sexually active you likely have HPV again just like the majority of the population. HPV causes warts but many people who have it never develop warts. Generally sores and discharge are symptoms. Or you can find out by getting tested. - D-rock

8)   depends on the std, some of them show no signs for years

Question 4
Does this sound like my generialzed anxiety disorder or my OCD?...  Does this sound like my generialzed anxiety disorder or my OCD?

Okay, When I went to sleep I had my pants on and buttoned up. When I woke up today, they where unbuttoned. Do you think it's possible that my Mom did that, and maybe did something worse?
As for my mom, she's never done anything sexual to me in my life. My mom is a Christian, she said that would never do anything like that. She also has my dad to umm take care of her "needs" for that kind of stuff... I asked my mom, she said she didn't do it. The logical part of my mind says that nothing happened. Sadly the illogical part is so strong...

There have been times that I've woken up a bit before she wakes so I pretend to be asleep to see what she does, and she only wakes me up. btw, by the time I wake up there's nobody in the house other than me and my mom...

Answers
1)   WOW WTF!!!??? Thats your Mom!!!! - alison r.

2)   WDF!!!!?!??! ROFL idt its your mom! unless your moms a creeper! - Amiee

3)   Even though you were asleep it is very possible you unbuttoned them yourself. If you honestly fear someone else did something what you need to do is talk to a doctor. From what you have said it doesn't sound like your mother would do something like that and it could possibly be your anxiety. - Ladi Tiger

4)   You unbuttoned them in your sleep or they came unbuttoned when you tossed and turned or something. If you logically know she didn't do it then accept it.

Are there any reasons for trust issues with your mom? If not talk to your therapist about what's going on so you can work on it.

BTW with mental disorders things often cover multiple areas. Those terms are just categories doctors use to treat us. - Happykid

Question 5
Another H1N1 question.. Please help!!?...  On November 16th, my community is being offered the H1N1 vaccine. I am debating whether I should take it or not. For a while I was more hesitant to get it because of the things that I have heard. I have heard many things about how H1N1 shot can cause your future children to become autistic, that it can cause cancer, and MS. Are any of those rumors true? Recently, a few students in my class have been diagnosed with H1N1, so I could be exposed to it already. Now I am leaning more towards getting the shot, but i really am not sure if I want to risk giving birth to autistic children (as i do plan to have kids someday??). Point being, if anyone knows the real truth about the H1N1 vaccine I would highly appreciate if you could let me know. :)

Answers
1)   Take the shot and be glad you can get it. Don't believe everything you read. - PD

2)   There are rare risks to every vaccine including the childhood vaccines you get..people are worried that the h1n1 shot is new and it hasn't been tested...well the reality is that every year the seasonal flu shot is essential new..there is a new strain each year that they must develop a vaccine too..so I wouldn't worry too much..the media is just blowing things out of proportion and reporting on the rare one in a million cases with rare side effects..I got my h1n1 vaccine as well as many of my co workers..and we are fine..don't worry..and the cancer thing..thats silly..cause everything we do now from talking on cell phones, to breathing, to eating fast food..causes cancer.. - Rabby

3)   hi rabby umm I think you should get the vaccine just in case u get exposed to the virus - Carlos
