What is causing my acne?

Question 1
What is causing my acne?...  I have been using some neutrogena crap religiously twice a day for a little over a month. And stuff the doc perscribed. I used to have moderate acne before this, but I have maybe the worst stage of severe. Is there any other factors as to why I still have it?

Answers
1)   your hideous face hahaha! - mayotard 1

2)   Those things don't work. Go to a doctor and ask them for a medicine you can buy from the pharmacy, not from the places that sells beauty stuff. And eating chocolate and chips make acne. Wash your face with a soap but make sure it is for face. I hope I helped! :) - bilsen.gamze

3)   maybe it's hormonal, it could also be due to severe stress... or ask your OB-GYNE, maybe you have what they call polycystic ovarian syndrome... - Primadonna

4)   Increased action of sweat glands on your face may lead to acne breakout. It may be that the specific neutrogena product didn't suit you. You could have provided your skin type, if it is oily, use gel based face-washes. If it is dry, use cream-based ones. Wash your face thrice a day, without fail. Try switching your face wash to a better one. Have some blood-purifying syrups each night. - cHoCoHoLiC!

5)   Step 1

One of the most popular home remedies is to put toothpaste on your pimple before you go to bed .Make sure it is the paste and not the gel.

Step 2

Place strawberry leaves on the acne ,the alkalinity helps reduce the swelling.

These are one of the smellier home remedies for getting rid of a pimple overnight.Crush a couple of garlic cloves and dabbed on the face 1-2 times daily.

Step 4

Grind orange peel with some water to a paste and apply on the pimple.Your pimple should disappear overnight or become less visible.

Step 5

Step 6

Put ice on the pimple before going to bed ,by morning it should be noticeably smaller. This works best on larger pimples that have not yet formed a head.

Step 7

Mix mint juice with turmeric powder and apply on affected area.Leave for about 15 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.

Step 8

Combine together in a bowl some vinegar and salt in a bowl, dab this mixture on your pimples ,leave for about 15-20 minutes and the rinse off.

Step 9

Grind some nutmeg with milk and apply to affected area, this will make your pimples vanish without leaving any marks.Poof and it is gone.

Follow any one of the instructions above ,I am sure one will work for you and good luck. You going to need it because some pimples are very stubborn.

Tea Tree Oil
Tea Tree Oil is obtained from the Melaleuca alternifoliais tree from Australia. It is very effective against Acne as it contains bacteria-fighting substances called Terpenes. Acne is often caused by bacteria and the Terpenes either outright kill them or weaken them enough to be destroyed by protective antibodies. There are very little side effects from using Tea Tree Oil.

Aloe Vera
The watery gel from Aloe Vera plant is also a highly effective natural cure against Acne. The enzyme-rich gel has very soothing anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It can also be taken internally and helps clean up and detox the digestive tract. This in turn can help clear up the skin.

Zinc
Zinc is taken in the form of capsules. It helps to strengthen the human immune system and to repair the skin.

Vitamin A
Vitamin A tablets are also a natural and effective Acne cure. Vitamin A promotes healthy skin.

Vitamin E
Vitamin E also helps in countering Acne. It is a natural antioxidant and beneficial for the skin. Vitamin E comes in soft gelatin capsules that contain Vitamin E, Soybean Oil, Glycerin, and Water.

Some Natural Homemade Cures to counter Acne
The most important thing to do if you suffer from Acne is to drink at least four pints of water every day. Drinking a lot of water is very beneficial to your skin. Including fresh fruit and leafy green vegetables in your daily diet will also bring about a marked improvement in the quality of your complexion.

Before bathing, apply a mixture of tomato pulp – real tomota pulp, not packaged one – honey and rose-water to your face and keep for twenty minutes before washing off.

At night, before going to bed, apply a mix of cream, glycerine, and lemon juice to your face and again keep it on for a short while before washing.

Regular Yoga exercises will also improve skin and overall health.

Things to Avoid
Avoid touching your face all the time, keep your hair away from your face, and avoid picking at pimples.

Another important thing if you're prone to Acne is to avoid using heavy make-up – in fact, it is preferable to avoid make-up altogether. For an effective cure, stay as natural as possible - ROSANNA C

6)   It's mostly natural. You can help by not touching your face with your hands, and washing your face regularly. - ee

7)   Either the neutrogena isn't right for you or it may be down to some other factors:
Your diet, greasy, sugary food can lead to certain skin conditions, lack of water, lack of vitamins, fruit, veg ect, if you have an unhealthy diet, I would think about changing it, many people with acne have found this to have a huge impact on their skin.

Also sometimes using to much of a certain treatment, like the neutrogena can really dry out your skin, you could reduce how much you use it or stop using it as it simply may not be right for you.

Simple cleansing ect - keeping your pours clean is essential, but don't over do it, again this can lead to dry skin, or flakey skin that can clog up your pours.

Really I would recommend seeing your doctor again to talk about this and combining the above factors to your lifestyle, diet, skin routine ect - Selene

8)   sometimes, acne gets worse to get better, so don't doubt yourself!
my doctor prescribed me to some benzaclin acne medication and it got really bad and flaky and iyt was the most worst stage of acne i've ever had.. after using the prescription 3-4 months it slowly faded away.

its all a stage, itll go away.
just remember not to touch your face, and avoid oily products, and to always wash your face at night, i now use and i suggest using a non-cosmodogenic cleanser (for acne) CETAPHIL, its very light and smooth, its not one of those cleansers where your face feels like rubber after you wash it.

my routine:
cetaphil gental cleanser (cleans face)
avene baume (lotion, ask for assistance if you cant find it)
bio oil (to remove scars)
- if you want to use your medication through my routine use it after Avene Baume.

hope i helped goodluck :) - rmarie
