My friend had glandular fever and I accidently had a sip of her drink.. please help!!!!!!?

Question 1
My friend had glandular fever and I accidently had a sip of her drink.. please help!!!!!!?...  My friend had glandular fever but she thinks she hasn't got it anymore. I think she said something about her first getting symptoms 8 months ago?
Well I had a sip of her drink thinking it was somebody elses who said I could have some. I had one small sip and although I drank it, about a minute later I rinsed my mouth with water and spat it out before drinking a load of tap water.
Now I feel a little ill like I have a bit of a sore throat and a runny nose and i KNOW it's phschological since I'm worried but it is really worrying me now...
Is it possible for me to have caught it?
Plus it wasn't like she'd just drank out of the bottle since it had the lid on but she had drank some. HELP!!!

Answers
1)   I would very much doubt if you would catch it that quickly. As you say it is because you are worrying so much. See how you feel in a weeks time and if you are still worried go and see your doctor but I wouldn't worry if I were you the chances of you contracting glandular fever from a sip of the drink are very very slim. - matron

Question 3
I am an african american male and have dark spots just above my both ankles.?...  This has been happening for the last few years. The spots are in varying sizes and are just below the skin surface. They have been slowly increasing and look like blood vessles that may have burst. Also cuts and bruises on my legs take an abnormally long time to heal and leave really dark scars. I am 47 years old, 5'10" tall and weigh about 240lbs. I am not physically active and have a high percentage of body bat around my torso. The spots around my ankles make my lower legs look dark and discoloured. I am wondering if this is a sign of poor leg circulation or a high blood sugar level.

Question 4
I feel like feinting sometimes?...  When I get back from class on campus, and I get home I become very dizzy for several seconds, everything turns black and I feel like I'm close to feinting, though I never have. Is this normal?

Answers
1)   If it happens when you stand up quickly, it could be from changes in your blood pressure (I have this).
If you haven't eaten all day it could be from low blood sugars.
It could also be issues with your neurological system or your blood. So go see a doctor! - Logan

2)   No, it's not normal.

You need to see a doctor, and get diagnosed. It could be something very serious, or not.
In any case, it could be very dangerous---you could injure yourself, or worse. - e w

Question 5
Type B Influenza question?...  I started feeling bad in the weekend and on Monday I was diagnosed with Type B Influenza. I hadn't had stomach problems, but yesterday I suddenly vomited, 3 times in total; and today I woke up with my throat feeling a million times more sore, I feel awful i can barely swallow and talk. What can I do?

Answers
1)   You don't mention if your doctor has given you antibiotics. If not maybe you need to go back and ask him for some. Try gargling with warm salt water for the sore throat. As for the vomiting do not have any dairy products until the vomiting stops. - matron

2)   Antibiotics (i.e. antibacterials) will do nothing for Influenza as it is a virus and not a bacteria. The only thing you can do now so late in the course is treat the symptoms. Tylenol alternated with Ibuprofen/Advil/Aleve/Motrin usually works pretty well for the pain, sore throat, and muscle aches. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of clear liquids. Don't force yourself to eat, but when you do start feeling hungry, start with bland, easily digested food first that are low in fat/grease. Also, get plenty of rest and let time do its trick. - Melissa
