Is it ok to cut dead skin off my feet with a knife?

Question 1
Is it ok to cut dead skin off my feet with a knife?...  My feet are gross, and I have so much dead skin. So I took a knife and cut off the dead skin from my heel, and the skin I cut off was a few centimeters thick. Could anything bad happen from doing this? I didn't cut the good skin, just the hard gross skin.

Answers
1)   Absolutley *never* do that again. By cutting off the dead skin, your feet WILL get raw in the next 2 days. It will grow back the dead skin even faster. You can mostuirze your feet, and wash them daily to prevent these. - Somwhere over The rainbow

2)   Buy something to remove the dead skin.....loofah, etc. Soaking your feet will also help loosen the old dead skin. Using a knife could be risky. - Veritas

3)   You should not cut it your own because it can cause infection if knife is not sterilized. The best solution was this, that you should go to beauty parlor. - Muhammad Amin

4)   Yeah mate no problem... But firstly be sure that you've sterilized the knife (boiling the knife and wet it with some ethanol will be enough). try to find a good healing cream also. - bibina

6)   no by cutting off your dead skin you expose raw skin. instead get something like the ped egg. you can buy them at rite aid for only 6 dollars. it will keep your feet nice and soft. or you could get a pedicure but those are expensive to keep up. - Amy Q

1)   Thyroid problems? Systemic candidiasis? I read that hypothyroid can cause a rash and it definitely can affect a lot of things. Could you possibly be allergic to a cleaner or anything you've inhaled or a new food you've ingested? Can't think of anything else, but I hope you get a diagnosis soon and life goes back to normal for you. Good Luck. - BlueJay

Question 5
Herpes contagious/contamination.?...  I hope this doesn't sound too ignorant or naive but there's a girl at work who has herpes (Definitely does) and I work with food all day. She used to work in mail order but now she's coming into the food room and myself and everyone else are worried that if she has cold-saws she could contaminate the food if she touches her face, or if she doesn't wash her hands properly after using the toilet... The boss knows she has herpes, but I'm not sure if he's thought about the contamination. Also is the only way to get herpes through sex? I know you can't get it through the toilet seat - I mean cold-saw wise.
Thanks.

Answers
1)   You should use acyclovir, it is the best about it you can get information from here http://usmdans23.notlong.com/AAnVI2S - Kaete Hynds

2)   First of all, they are called cold sores. Not cold-saws.
Truth is that 80% if the population already has oral herpes. It needs to be passed by skin to skin contact. So lets just say theoretically, she touches her cold sore (which she probably wouldnt anyways because they are painful) and then she touches the plate that the food is on or the food itself. The herpes virus is so fragile that it would die after being exposed to air for a few seconds. It doesnt survive outside of the human body well at all. Someone would literally have to immediately rub their face on the food or plate moments after she touched it in order for her to give it to them.
So instead of treating her like a leper, you should realize that statistics say that 4 out of 5 people in that room, have herpes too. Heck, you might have it and not even know. - Shauna Due Nov. 9th
