Help: My mom won't let me listen to my iPod or anything with headphones?

Question 1
Help: My mom won't let me listen to my iPod or anything with headphones?...  Lately my mom, caused herself to have this "disease" where she hears sound from her ears, really loudly. Which means that I can't go to the movie theatre or subway with her, as the sound is to much. I totally understand that and I help her get through it. I can't remember the name of the disease but all I know, is that you can get it if you listen to music loudly on headphones. My mom got this in Jan 2011. For christmas she bought me an iPod which was expensive and now, she has hidden ALL my earphones so I don't get the disease. I understand she wants to protect me, but I want to listen to my music. She even hid my iPod. I really think it's unfair because I want to listen to my music, and I always listen on low volume, whereas my mom always listened on high which is how she got it. I explained this, but she said it does not matter i could still get it. HOW can I get her to let me listen to my music with earphones. And also, is this disease curable? My mom said she read on the Internet and in a book, it's not and she will have it forever and she is really mentally depressed about it and breaks down and cries every day, and it makes me sad.

Thanks

1)   Is this the "disease"?

2)   she's just being over protective which is what mums do - matthew biss

3)   She loves you and doesn't want you to have what she has. you should obey her. - Jessica Tarbett

4)   it CAN be cured with surgery - Hyalei R

5)   Show your mom this...
International Electro-technical Commission 268-7 IEC: 1996:
“To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long periods. As a guide to setting the volume level, check that you can still hear your own voice, when speaking normally while listening with the headphones.”

...and promise to listen sensibly.

I have never used headphones or listened to loud music in my life and I have tinnitus. Could drive me nuts, but I can mostly tune it out.
I find that external sounds help. When it began I used to walk busy streets as the noise of traffic covered the sound of the tinnitus.

Tell you mom to go see a good ENT specialist. There is no cure for most types of tinnitus, but she can write down all the questions she needs answered.
Perhaps she can be reassured about you and sensible listening and also be taught how to cope with her tinnitus.

i feel tired, and i can sleep a lot longer than normal,i had a temperature all night,im cold, but when i put a blanket over me,im too hot,i take it off and im freezing again,my throat feels swollen, and i dont have an apetite either, what are the symptoms matching ?

Answers
1)   The flu. Drink lots of fluids, get lots of rest and call a doctor if this goes on for longer than 3 days, if you have trouble breathing, or if your temperature gets above 103F. - Personal

2)   i dont know where you are located. but i am in florida and many ppl are getting sick and its because of the weather continuing to change. one day its freezing next day its completely hot. some mornings its hot then a few hours later its cold. maybe that can be your problem. just take some meds, dress warmly and try to sleep as much as possible. also lay off salt and drink a flat coke, that works too - sexy mae

3)   Sounds like a everyday cold. Drinks lots of Orange Juice, take some Tylenol Cold medicine, some Advil for Fever and sleep it off.
Usually if it persists more then 3-5 days see a Dr. But it's usually just Viral and they won't give you anything for it just tell you to rest. Best of Luck! - Jenna Bou

4)   about it you can get information from here http://cadmedans9.notlong.com/AAEj23Q - Roxanne Yagin

5)   Sore throat maybe pharyngitis it comes so often with the flu because of the germs.. so is for the head ache and you'll get pain all over your body 'cause your muscles are tired usual symptoms of the flu.... for the eyes I'm not sure and as long as that your eyesight is conserved looking too far may hurts because you focus more while you are all exhausted. . Have a rest, keep yourself warm, use something antipyretic ( I'm not sure if it's said like this I study with french so ><) + use throat spray+ wash your teeth today more than often done ... Loss of tasting may occur with the loss of appetite ... Don't worry doesn't look unfamilar !

Question 3
Deodorants dont last on me?...  I cant understand why any deodorant cant last more than 1 hour on me. I stink all day. It´s so embarrassing. Do you know any medicine for this? or any mixture of some things you know?

Answers
1)   they have prescription deodorant, also shaving under your arms work too - sexy mae

2)   Which deodrants do you use? - Ba Ag

3)   Spray under your arms properly, from a distance of about 25cm. Don't buy cheap deodorants and you'll be fine. You can get stronger stuff at chemists, but you'll have to ask them about it. Lynnx/Axe should be ok though. - Scampi

4)   Hi Anthony. Sometimes store bought deodorants do not work for some people. If you go to the doctor, you can get a prescription strength deodorant, that is much more effective. The odor is caused by bacteria, so you should make sure you wash twice a day with an anti-bacterial soap, and apply deodorant immediately after you're done. I would consider trying the prescription strength one though. I know a couple of people that used it, and it really helped them a lot. Good luck. - Angelbunny17
