I've been experiencing a lot of symptoms including daily headaches?

Question 1
I've been experiencing a lot of symptoms including daily headaches?...  Well I'm 14 years old. I'm not under any stress at all. My diet is a lot better than it used to be. I get at least an hour of exercise a day. Every single day now Ive been getting headaches and my whole body just feels like crap. I'm not depressed either. Daily now, I come home from school and around 3 to 4pm the headaches start (and they don't stop til I go to sleep that night), usually I just end up laying down on the couch or my bed, and today especially I just felt horrible. I was doing dishes and just suddenly I couldn't take the pain anymore and I started crying. I'm now relying on headache reliever pills (equate) to get me through the night, and it doesn't get rid of the headache, it just makes it less intense. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Should I go see a doctor or will this go away on its own?

Other symptoms I've been feeling:
.every now and then...numbness and a pins and needles feeling (nothing today though)
.when im standing or even lying down I feel like I'm on a boat, I could be perfectly still but I feel like I'm swaying back and forth
.today especially my emotions feel whacked up, I came home from school fine, perfectly good mood, and within an hour I felt really bad I just wanted to sleep and do nothing.
.when I'm walking up and down stairs I feel like I have to grasp the rail to keep myself from falling down completely
.occasionally a loss of appetite and thirst. there has been days that I'd consume no more than 800 calories
.I love reading, but now I cant stand to read for too long. and I'm starting to get my letters mixed up now and its really annoying. for example I've confused "elephant" for "alphabet" and "graffiti" for "giraffe"

this has been going on for 3 weeks now and I'm sick and tired of feeling horrible all the time, my grades are starting to drop because I don't feel well enough to do my homework, I'm having my mom help me a lot now and I used to be a straight A student but now my lowest grade dropped from a 95 to a 79, I know that doesn't seem like a bad thing but it is to me because I'm trying to maintain atleast a 3.0 grade average and I hate that my grades are suffering because I don't feel well.
alot of this seems to be linked to my brain, i tried googling these symptoms but that just truly freaked me out cuz one of the results was "brain tumor" witch really scares me. is it possible I have one? do i need to get this stuff checked out?

3)   All those are possible symptoms of a brain tumor. You should go to a doctor soon.

If it's not a brain tumor, it's something else in your brain, because all of those are neurological problems. - martin-MP

4)   You really should see a doctor, because it could be something serious like a brain tumor. More than likely, you just get headaches. I have been getting them since the age of 9 and so far they haven't found a physical reason for them (I am now 26). But you should tell a doc and have some tests done just in case. They may also be able to put you on some medication to help, even if there is no definite cause for the symptoms. - aerofare

5)   You need to go see a doctor.

Tell your parents that your having daily headaches for a month now and you don't know what's causing it.

I'm no doctor at all.

Though it sounds to me 2 things.
Your not getting enough sleep- you need 8-10 hours every night! ( 6-8 hours are for adults!)

Also it sounds like your not hydrating your self enough. Make sure you have 10 full glasses of water per day. This will make you feel better! - Mitch G

6)   I'm 14 years old too and about last October I had pretty much the same symptoms you had. I ended up having a condition called Pseudo Tumor Cerebri. What you talk about with reading and vision ended up turning into double vision because it was left for too long without being treated.

This condition is where your body creates too much spinal fluid for no reason and it presser around your brain and eyes. It makes sense with everything your experiencing. I dont want to freak you out in case you do or dont have this but the only way to treat is with Spinal Taps to drain the fluid. I actually suffered for a while and had to go on home hospitalization my 8th grade year. Thankfully thinks are looking up and they are decreasing my meds and I am back in school. I am still suffering from headaches though from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep.

You need to go to the doctor and have them look into your eyes. They need to look for a Swelling of the optic nerve (Papilledema.) If that's It's almost certain you have Pseudo tumor cerebri.

Again I dont want to freak you out, but if left untreated you can go blind. The headaches just get worse and worse and your vision just gets worse and worse. The first time I went to the Er i got turned away. A few days later I was in the most pain ive ever been in in my life. Pain relievers wouldn't work. I was hospitalized for 4 days and they preformed 4 taps their. From then on it's a balancing act with the fluid.

My memory is so bad and I've gotten really stupid because of one of the medicines theyve put me on to deal with the pain. Everything's getting better though.

The symptoms listed their are as they get more severe but I experienced everything you are feeling weeks before things got dramatically bad for me. Just because you don't think your overweight doesn't mean you can't have it, they don't know for sure why it occurs but that's just the trend they've noticed.

Sorry if I've freaked you out, any questions contact me, I've dealt with this for a year. It could be nothing. This is pretty uncommon for all I know, it was on Mystery Diagnosis so I feel it is my duty to inform people especially those who may have it.

(Pseudo Tumor means fake tumor, it mimics a real tumor but won't show up in Mri's and isn't as harmful)

Good luck, Hope everything works out okay - Gypsydimples

Question 5
why alpha or beta radiation are not used in treating cancer?...

Answers
1)   They aren't strong enough to do any harm to tumor tissues. Alpha, and probably beta, couldn't even really penetrate the body. - Morgan

2)   Most alpha radiation is not able to penetrate human skin.

Alpha-emitting materials can be harmful to humans if the materials are inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through open wounds.

Beta radiation may travel several feet in air and is moderately penetrating.

Beta radiation can penetrate human skin to the "germinal layer," where new skin cells are produced. If high levels of beta-emitting contaminants are allowed to remain on the skin for a prolonged period of time, they may cause skin injury.

Beta-emitting contaminants may be harmful if deposited internally.

Sooo, that's why. - april
