What causes diarrhea?

Question 1
What causes diarrhea?...  My fiancee was on zithromax for broncitis, about a month ago. He got a bad case of diarrhea. It has been 14 days since his last pill and still has diarrhea. Any ideas out there of why he still has it or that could be causing it?

3)   I know that whenever on antibiotics, it not only kills the bad bacteria causing the infection, but also the good. We need good bacteria in our intestinal track to keep things going properly. Thats why they say to take a probiotic, or just eat yogurt (which has good bacteria in it) and it will replenish your body with what it needs...Usually for at least a week after taking antibiotics......And some antibiotics can just have that side effect as well.... - Tiffer

Question 3
Skin irritated from acne medication?...  I used a acne medication and now my face is irritated (it's red and dry) i put some lotion on it because its dry do you think that I can put aloe on my face to make it less red??

Can i have some real answers !?!?!
and btw for the person that said you were a doctor if your just saying that so you will get picked best answer you wont get picked.

2)   Just leave the moisturizer on and give your skin a rest. - LuvIzLuvIzLuv

3)   Be careful with acne treatments! If you think you might be allergic, then change to a different medication...it happened to my cousin when she was young, and it was a real disaster!

If your redness is just typical side-effects, you may want to cut back the use, or use a less potent concentration (check the % concentration on the back of the product and get a lower one!) Sometimes your skin needs to adjust to these things.

There are many soothing things for skin, like lotion or aloe. If you know that a certain product (like acne treatment) has irritated you, just make sure to wash it off. You can try well-known soothing remedies like aloe on top of a barrier and moisturizer like a lotion, but try not to overload yourself. If your skin is already irritated, you might not want to pile a ton more creams and chemicals onto it. Give it a chance to heal. Lotion and aloe don't sound too intense, though, so it might be a safe enough bet. If you want to try aloe instead of lotion when it's all absorbed and you've waited a bit, you could see which one makes your face feel better and stick to that.

In the end, you might just want to lay off the acne medicine for a day or two--at least until your skin calms down. You don't want to cause any chemical burns, I assume! You also might want to test it on your wrist or neck before you use it all over again, to make sure it's not a reaction to the medicine like an allergy. If you have a reaction for something, WASH IT OFF! And DON'T use it again! Otherwise, maybe it really is just too strong!

Be careful--you've only got one face, yes? ;) Good luck finding a good acne treatment, and please be careful not to hurt your skin! As long as you're careful and let your skin have a little break after this incident, you'll hopefully be just fine in a little bit. - A. R.

Question 4
Why do some people get mosquito bites and others don't?...  i have never had a mosqito bite in my life. my family gets them all the time and i dont. i have seen them land on my before but after they leave nothing happens, no puffy red itchy spot like ive seen on other people. can anyone tell me why?

3)   Some people get reactions to mosquito bites, making the bites swell a lot more than others. It can depend sometimes on your immune system. You might just not be as sensitive as the rest of your family to the mosquitoes.
(I went to look this up to make sure, and here's a quote from source 1 in my links...note that they say "she" because only female mosquitoes bite: "After she has bitten you, some saliva remains in the wound. The proteins from the saliva evoke an immune response from your body. The area swells (the bump around the bite area is called a wheal), and you itch, a response provoked by the saliva. Eventually, the swelling goes away, but the itch remains until your immune cells break down the saliva proteins.")

The itching and swelling depends on your immune system. Also, the sensation of itching depends on your skin. Some people have very strong reactions to mosquitoes and get VERY LARGE wheals (a.k.a., my mother--worst I've ever seen! I'm not even that bad, and I'm semi-bad!) Some other people have just a tiny pinhole where the mosquito bites (a.k.a. my little cousin...lucky little brat! :P) Perhaps you're just part of that lucky second group. The average person, of course, would fall somewhere in the middle--perhaps those round, itchy bumps you're used to seeing on people?

If you have a reason to believe your immune system might be damaged, seek medical attention. Otherwise, just enjoy your good luck! I'd LOVE to not feel itchy from mosquitoes!! Also, on that first page they talk about how mosquitoes can sense carbon dioxide as well as lactic acid...some people (especially people who sweat a lot) might give off more than others. ...so maybe if you're just less "visible" to mosquitoes because your other family members give off more CO2 or lactic acid? Maybe you're just not as good a mosquito target, and so don't get attacked as often! Either way, you're a lucky thing, aren't you?! ;) Good for you! - A. R.
