Answers
1)   I'd say the doctor...or you could try triple antibiotic ointment - mikew19532004

2)   It might be that you have an infection in this area. Have you take a mirror and tried looking at the area. If it is very red, swollen or has fluid draining, you need to see a doctor and get some medication to clear this up. If you haven't been able to clear this up in a week, you are probably going to need the help of a doctor to get this cleared up. - J B

3)   It sounds like you have an infection, probably from something like a pilonidal cyst. Make an appointment, and you'll need to get it looked at. You may even need antibiotics in order for it to heal up. - politically correct

4)   if it is red and raw you might have a heat rash keep it clean and dry and try to keep it open to air probably at night go to bed bottomless and try to only sleep with a sheet on at night until it heals if not healed in a week go get checked out by your doctor I am sure it is just a heat rash
especially since the way you describe it and since it is hot out lately .
good luck - Duane

5)   If you've got insurance so that seeing a dermatologist wouldn't break the bank, I'd first go see what the doctor says and do what he recommends. Simultaneously it wouldn't do any harm to have a look at the answer to the question asking what that individual can do for her skin without using externally-applied cosmetics, i.e., a nutritional approach. You may have psoriasis on that part of your body. If this is the case I'd consider using vegetable and fish oils which contain essential fatty acids plus a high-quality (Solgar) Vitamin E supplement on a religiously consistent daily basis for a couple of months or so and see if that doesn't help. - Jon B

Question 3
my dad has citalopram ?...  I know it's really nosy and i should leave people business to themselves - but i'm genuinely worried about my dad. There's been packs of prescription citalopram in the medicine box for years. I've only just thought - what is it ??? Can someone tell me everything about it and why he's taking them ?
thank you x

Answers
1)   You can go to WebMd.com and type in the name of this medication and read up on it's uses. And, you should let your father know that you checked facts about his medication and he may give you the reason his doctor prescribed it for him. And, yes, medications are a very private matter. - J B

2)   My friend is currently taking this as an antidepressant drug. It is mainly used for this but can be for other things, have a look on wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citalopram

Love x - hanabanana

3)   Definitions of Citalopram on the Web:

Citalopram is an antidepressant drug used to treat major depression associated with mood disorders. It is also used on occasion in the treatment of body dysmorphic disorder and anxiety.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citalopram - Gloria A

4)   I would be worried too..the side effects can be worse than the original problem including worsening of depression and suicidal thinking or behavior in both adults and children. Anti depressants are felt (on the method of action it states unknown) to increase serotonin levels. Also, anti depressants are no better than taking a placebo (sugar pill). Increasing serotonin levels naturally seems a more worthy effect to get to the underlying condition. Anyone thinking of stopping anti depressants must withdraw slowly and not stop cold turkey.

"If you or someone you know is demonstrating any of the following warning signs of suicide-related behaviour while taking ARROW - CITALOPRAM, contact your doctor or a mental health professional immediately or go to the nearest hospital for treatment:

* thoughts or talk of death or suicide
* thoughts or talk of self-harm or harm to others
* any recent attempts of self-harm
* increase in aggressive behaviour, irritability or agitation.

Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following, especially if they are severe, abrupt in onset, or are not usually part of your depressive symptoms:

* anxiety (increased anxiety can occur at the start of therapy but will disappear with continued treatment - do not stop the medicine or change the dose)
* akathisia (restlessness or difficulty in sitting or standing still; can occur in the first few weeks of therapy)
* panic attacks
* insomnia (difficulty sleeping)
* agitation, irritability, hostility (aggressiveness), impulsivity
* hypomania, mania (mood of excitement, over-activity and uninhibited behaviour)"

Question 4
Teenager with Sretch Marks?!?...  I recently turned 14. When i was walking round the house in my underwear like I do when my mum noticed I've got stretch marks on the top of my thighs/butt cheeks. Why do I have them? Im not overweight or anything. What can I do to get rid of them; excersise, cream???

Answers
1)   use a stretch mark lotion. that will help. - Lauryn

2)   Stretch marks are forever. They might fade with tanning or creams, but they will always be there unless surgically removed. WHY you have them - could be from a rapid weight gain, even if you're not overweight. Also could be due to a rapid growth, depending on where they are. If they are on your thighs/butt it could be due to puberty, gaining weight in those parts. You don't have to be obese to get them... it is just from your skin stretching out in places it wasn't ready for. - BookFace

3)   I AM not trying to be rude or mean .
try exercising and try palmers coco butter stretch marks removal cream it should be in with the lotions
good luck - Duane

4)   Well... do you mean "stretch?"

Everyone gets stretch marks... it's just due to growing. When your skin is not properly moisturized and it has to stretch to fit your growth, you get stretch marks. Do you drink a lot of water? A lot of people think putting lotion on alone is enough to keep moisturized... your body needs water though. Start drinking more water along with applying a good lotion to the marks. Mederma and cocoa butter work well. - Whiteanese Cat Owl
