What are some good ways to get rid of sunburn?

Question 1
What are some good ways to get rid of sunburn?...  i got a bad sunburn on my back kind of near my shoulders..its not that red but its making my skin PEEL. im putting this spray stuff called Solar Recover on it and it makes it go away for a little then it comes back. what home remedies would you suggest?

Answers
1)   stay awy from the sun - kierann

2)   lots of aloe, 3x a day - Zach

3)   i've heard that tomato juice is good for it. take a bath in tomato juice, or as much of it as you can. - insomnia

4)   hey you can go to your local walmart or dollar general store and get some aloe vera gel it comes in a bottle with a pump so you can pump out the aloe vera gel into your hand and spread it on your sun burn when you buy aloe vera gel always keep it in your refrigerator to keep it cold th cold aloe vera gel will take the heat out of your sun burn and make it go away just keep on applying it in the morning and through out the day and your sun burn will be gone it works - kitten caboodle

5)   STEP ONE: exfoliating

get some efoliating gloves or a scrubber becasue these ar e the best ( they are tougher on skin) or a sugar body scrub or any body scrub. By exfoliating the sunburnt area very carefully so not to cause more irritation will get rid of dry skin

STEP TWO: moisturise

get a moisturising cream and apply that to towel dried skin when you have efolitaed this will keep in the moisture and help to stop peeling of the skin

STEP THREE: cold towels

Get a teatwoel nd put it in cold water if the skin is irritating you it will cool the skin and make it less inflamed

You could also buy an after sun cream or use the one you've got ( which sounds good) and apply that instead of a moisturiser ( step two)

Try to exfoliate and moisturise twice a day once in the mornign and once at night - don't scrub too hard beause this will make your skin hurt more and at night beofre you go to bed slap on thick layer of moisturiser or the solar recover and put on a t-shirt with sleves to keep the moisture in.

Keep your shoulders out of the sun and remember TO WEAR SUNCREAM, if you don't you will get burnt and you will peel and you will have very wrinkly sun damaged skin when you are older. Always put on suncream, it doesn't stop you from tanning, it stops you from burning and helps you tan anturally and SAFELY!!!

hope this helped xxxxx - Love_life

6)   NOTHING will make it go away, You have caused damage to your skin, and now your skin is doing the best it can to heal. When it has healed, there will be no more peeling. All sunburn is skin damage, and should be avoided.

Cold compresses on fresh sunburn can help, as can direct application of lavender essential oil or aloe vera (or a mixture of fresh aloe with lavender is amazing). For now, moisturise and protect your skin from the sun. Try using a loofah or exfoliant to get rid of the loose, peeling skin more quickly, but be gentle.

Tomato juice, cucumber etc really only work due to the cooling effect on the skin. A cold pack or ice compress is cheaper, can be used again and again, and works.

To avoid this problem again, use a high protection sunscreen, wear a shirt, and stay out of the sun when it's at it's strongest. I know I sound like I'm giving a lecture, but skin cancer is dangerous and ugly (I'm from Australia, I've seen teenagers with sun cancers) - Beth H

Question 2
breast lump...good advice needed please?...  can anyone please advise?? i found a lump in my breast and went to the doctors yesterday where she found several other lumps there and also under my arm.ive been referred to the breast cancer clinic and will be seen within two weeks. the doctor said it could be a number of things but wants to check just to be on the safe side, so im trying to stay positive. could anyone please advise me what type of examinations tests etc they might do? ive been told very little and was a bit in shock i think so didn't think to ask so am worrying just a bit. can anyone advise? sensible answers only please. all good advice really appreciated. im a 46year old woman from the uk . thank you x

1)   Janet obviously you won`t rest until you get to the clinic. It is good that you went straight to your GP. You will be treated immediately if not sooner whatever the results show...I Imagine x rays will be first. That happened with my mum. Her news was bad but she was made well again and had many many years after to tell the tale.Hopefully yours will just be fatty lumps. Share your thoughts with a friend and stay positive. God bless - EnigmaticJ look who`s talking xx

2)   they willf eel your breasts, mammogram and possibly a biopsy. My daughter has regular checks because she has lumps but for her it is simply because she has 'lumpy breasts' and of course they check all the lumps . I hope yours is something as simple as this. Good luck and don't worry about the visit to the clinic and be glad they are seeing you quickly , the sooner it is investigated the sooner you can find out what the problem is and have it dealt with. - fellbuddy

3)   it,s easy to say don,t worry, but it might just be cysts..
they will probably do a biopsy, which involves putting a needle in, not very nice, but necessary..it,s just the worry of waiting for results, i,ve had a fibroid cut out of my left breast, and my friend found a lump, and had to have a masectomy, [both breasts]removed, and she is fine, that was 12 years ago..you did the right thing going to the doctor.quickly. and treatment is very good nowadays
i wish you the best...xxx.. - cuerocat

4)   You will have a physical examination first; a mammogram and/or an ultrasound scan; and if considered necessary a biopsy/biopsies.

You'll be given a local anaesthetic before any biopsy.

Depending on where you are in the UK, the time it takes to get your results varies. For me it was 48 hours; with some hospitals it's a week, and I have heard of people getting their results the same day.

I know how hard all this waiting is; bear in mind that around 80% of breast lumps tested turn out to be benign.

Question 3
Should I be worried that I contracted an STD?...  I had sex with a girl not too long ago and I wore a condom and it did NOT break (I checked it afterward by putting water in it). The sex didn't last for that long (only about five minutes or so). When we were having sex I didn't take off my clothes fully (I pulled my penis out through the slit if my boxers so there wasn't much skin-to-skin contact. The problem is that after we had sex I found out that this girl has a bit of a reputation (she has been with many people). I am a very paranoid person and I have always been scared of contracting an STD. Should I be worried that I caught something or am I just overreacting? Given the details of my story, how likely is it that I may have contracted something from this girl?
Hey everyone. I know my story is a bit humorous and I don't mind you laughing and having fun but please let me know if I am overreacting or if my concerns are warranted. By the way, I'm not that experienced at sex this is only my second time doing it.

It doesn't matter if she has slept with just a couple of people or a couple of hundred, she could have an STD (You have to keep in mind how much the people she has slept with get around too). Just get tested. - Blah Blah
