1)   It is better to look a fool then be dead.

If it is nothing then you should be glad, but it could be something that is an easy fix and not what you thought at all.

it is better to be wrong then to let something go to long without treatment. if something is seriously wrong it is better to be safe than sorry. - eve

2)   Go to the doctor. They are there to help you. If you think there might be something wrong with you then you should go get it checked out. Tell them that your vision is getting bad and that you can't stop eating and drinking and they will diagnose what you have. There job is to do that for you. You are being a fool by not seeing them. Question 3
Question about under active thyroid?...  i recently saw a show about under active thyroids, and this girl had a condition that when her leg was pressed on it would leave an indent. the same thing happens to me.when i press my finger into my shin for a min and then take it away, it leaves an indent in my shin. and it feels like the muscles are logged with water or something. any ideas on what is wrong with me?

Answers
1)   no. that,s why you get a blood test. that answers most health questions. i have 1/2 of a thyroid because of a biopsy. if my synthroid levels get low, i get cold hands and feet in the summer. you might just be dehydrated. - David

2)   This condition can also be caused by water retention and can lead to congestive heart failure
Best to see a doctor and have this situation 'properly' diagnosed and start necessary medical treatment. - Jan Luv

3)   Unless you have left out some vital symptoms, it is unlikely that you have an underactive thyroid based on an identation left on your shin. Patients usually complain of weight gain, fatigue, mental slowness, cold intolerance or depression. There is a small possibilty that the indentation may be result of water retention, which could be accumulating in your cells so I would still see a doctor if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms. The doctor will order a simple blood test, looking for raised TSH levels. - MrSandman

Question 4
What methods might be used to cool the skin of a child experiencing a high fever?...  How would this method promote heat loss?

Answers
1)   cool bath or rub down with alcohol - jon d.

2)   cold towel on the back of the neck - mitch

3)   A tepid bath is a very fast way. The room temperature water will help to equalize the child's temperature. Analgesics like acetaminophen can also help to cool the child's skin by blocking prostoglandin.

Do not your child in an ice bath. This can lead to hypothermia, aside from being shocking and painful. Do not give your child aspirin. Aspirin will reduce a fever, but in some children it can lead to Reye's Syndrome, a permanent type of brain damage. Do not rub alcohol on your child's skin. This gives the sensation of cool, but it is just evaporating the water from your child's already dehydrating body.

If your child has a fever of over 103, contact his doctor for the best recommendation tailored to your child's needs. If your child has a fever over 104, take him to the doctor immediately. - pastanaut
