Question 1
if the country was under attack from a deadly infectious disease...?...  ... do you think that a mass cull of the infected would be ordered? I was just reading some stuff about foot and mouth disease and i wondered if humans were all getting ill like that would they kill off people to stop the spread or are the government only ok to do that to animals? I also watch 28 weeks later recently and they firebombed the whole of london to get rid of the infected people without concern for all the non-infected people in the area. what do you recon?

1)   Yeah - the government always does things exactly like they do in the movies. Check out Outbreak too - that's another good example.

Realistically - I think that a massive quarantine, enforced by armed men, would be the first step. That sort of drastic solution would probably never happen - by the time people considered it necessary, it'd be too late. - KevinM

3)   If the disease is deadly then they are going to die anyway so it is pointless killing them off.

There was the great plague in 1665 and it was followed by the great fire of London in 1666 which seemed to stop the plague but it is likely that the plague had stopped spreading by the winter of 1665 due to the effects of the cold weather.

If there was an infectious disease on the same scale today then people infected people would be placed in isolated areas away from where they could contaminate the healthy population. Their bodies may well be incinerated to contain the spread of the infection. - ray_diator

4)   i really dont think they would! I think the nearest thing like that would be if the 'infected' (or zombies :D) outnumbered the uninfected like 100:1 then maybe they would Nuke the infected area. But if were talking about a foot and mouth like illness.. then No I highly doubt the government would order such a Plan. I think theyd more go for a plan like quarantine the infected until a cure can be found. Even if we knew for sure that there would be NO cure i still don't believe that they would Cull a human. When humans Cull animals the reason they can do that mostly is the animal cant look up and say "Please don't kill me" I don't believe ANY human or animal should be culled. it is a living, breathing thing like a human. The only difference is that is has no Cognitive reasoning. So us 'humans' feel they are lower life form and can kill them off with out question.
Though another good question is if that situation happened would the country turn on it self and would you have vigilante groups going around culling the infected? No matter what government said! ... Im sure we will find out in the soon to be made '28 Months later' :D - Adam-Knox

5)   i think you mean an 'attack simulation model or scenario,? ok how could someone use a bacteria or a virus to infect a mass population so fast that the ability to deal with what is called 'collateral damage,' does not occur, firstly have a read up about the very secret technology that is not going to be admitted to, by the UK/USA called NBC nuclear, biological and chemical, the use of a super bug, is a virus that has been bred in such a way that it can be dispersed very rapidly and or a bacteria that can be spread by simply being picked up hand to hand, the issue with this type of weapon is the need for such to have an infectious stage, and an incubation stage, or the use of an agent, that has little survival rates or no known cure should a break out occur or has a fast breeding rate such as Leprosy or Bubonic Plague, or other African type diseases and so on.

the problem is the act of dispensing the stuff, but for the case of argument if you did, and you could do it widely then in theory you could infect a lot of people but the amount of infections would have to be fairly widespread, the Uk did and still does have piles of hidden weapons was the creator of VX gas various chemical agents, tested Anthrax on various places and tested nerve gasses on people to see what would happen.

if you did arrive at a means to 'weapons,' an agent then in theory the agent did work and infected a lot of people then the society would breakdown fairly rapidly, panic, hype fights, arguments, hospitals unable to function, holding pens for the dead and dying, fear and so on in a first stage panic, then you would have the risk of spread, second stage panic such as by carriers animals and so on and since bacteria spread fast so do viruses the ability to contain would be minimal.

after that it may, be impossible to deal with the infections other than wait for 'peak out,' or highest point of infection and wait for the spread to stop, in prospect to control the military would be used, and signatory figures would be moved to fallout shelters. - KONSTANCE H

DO I HAVE APPENDICITIS?...  Ok, today, I stayed home from school sick. When I woke up I felt fine but then I felt like i had to go to the bathroom. So I did, and it surprised me that I had diarrhea. It lasted a very long time, and I had a stomach ache for about an hour after that, then the pain went away and I was able to fall back asleep. I haven't been eating much lately because I just haven't been feeling hungry. Anyway, I woke back up and there was this really bad pain in my lower right stomach, and then it went away. But now that's gone, and it only feels sore when I Inhale. Should I go to a doctor? It may just be gas pain, but I'm not taking any risks.

How to get rid of strep throat? Or is this strep?Helpppppppppppppppp!!!?...  Okay. So I don't know what to do because I'm at home and I can't go to the doctor. I'm 14 years old and I stayed home from school. I'm looking at my mouth right now...ok so I have these little cracks of red on my uvula and I have this greenish grossness on my tonsils, and behind my tonsils and uvula is really sore. On my left tonsil I have this little red sore mark and it's SOOOOOOO sore. What is this? I just tried to drink some water and every tiny sip I take hurts sooooo bad. REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY BADDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1)   I had strept throat a few times, and when i had it, i had a fever, my body ached, My tonsils were red and very swollen and had white pussy spots and lines all over them. It does hurt to drink anything, i could not even swallow my spit. I would talk to your mom and see what she says and try to find a way to the doctor, cuz if it is strept throat they would give you antibiotics to make it go away faster, even tho strept throat can be cleared on its own its better to take medication. Take some kind of pain reliever for the pain as you would for a headache. Also it could just be a virus and not strept throat, i have had a few of those too, and they dont give you medicine for those. - T T T Tina

2)   i am so sorry for you! i'm 14 too, but my mom is a specialist on throats. i get the strep throat a lot and the swallowing hurting sounds like it but i don't know about your uvula. usually when you have the strep throat you'll get a rash on your chest, arms,throat and back. if you do have the strep throat you should take a lot of vitamins and loads of tylenol! prepare to be sick for like 3 weeks also. and drinking hot lemonade with honey in it helps the soreness. drink lots and lots of water, another way to tell if you have the strep throat is that you should have a really dry throat, and no matter how much water you drink it won't go away.i hope you feel better! if you think of another question you can email me: addison_wiggins@yahoo.com - Alexis

3)   Untreated Strep can lead to serious heart issues. It needs antibiotics...you need to go to the doctor. They will do a swab of ur throat and then a rapid strep test...if ur lucky they will also do a standard micro culture (rapid tests are notorius for inaccurate results) as well. Regardless of EITHER TEST...they may treat you w/ antibiotics based on ur clinical presentation. - jake696

should I being going to school with mono?...  I'm 16 and i got the results yesterday that i have mono. i must have had it for about 2 weeks now without knowing. I'm tired but not extremely tired. and the only other problem is that my tonsils are extremely swollen and hurt real bad. my mom thinks I should be going to school. but i have heard that it is highly contagious and dont think its a very good idea to be going to school. what should i do?
