Question 2
Could I be getting sick?...  I slept til noon today (more than 12 hours of sleep) and yet I've been pretty tired all day and by 8:00 today, I was exhausted. Now, it's a little after 9:30 and I want nothing more than to go to sleep. I also have a headache which I never get. I wouldn't say that my appetite is gone but it is significantly lower. I didn't think anything of any of this until my parents said something (but that was before the headache). My face is also flushed and I'm glassy-eyed. I have to stay up and write a paper or I would go bed right now. I also have to finish two projects tomorrow and study for a midterm and other minor assignments, so this is no time for me to be getting sick, so I'm hoping that's not it. What do you think?

Question 3
I want to be a surgeon (cancer tumors)?...  I want to be a surgeon (cancer tumors) what do i need to do for that?
can i get a bachelor degree (registered nursing) from york u and then apply to medical school? how long does medical school take for this and is it rly hard? I'm in the last semester of grd 12 im graduating this year and taking my last 3 courses (math, bio, chem)

Answers
1)   U better have a pre-med degree...not nursing! You'll need lots of Bio, Chem & math. How do you like organic chem.? This career pursuit isn't for weenies...you need to get good grades at these course as well. Look up Oncologist for more info.

You have medical school (4yrs.) then residency and fellowship. you better talk to a counselor, or career specialist in ur HS NOW! - jake696

2)   that is a great goal!
I'm a little confused as to why you are choosing to get your BSN (bachelors of nursing) and then go to medical school.
are you doing this because it is "medical" and you think it will prepare you?
in a way it will, but the nursing training and philosophy and doctor training and philosophy are sometimes an ocean apart.
and you still have to be "pre-med" because there are specific courses that you will need to take that are above and beyond any nursing curriculum.
now if you are doing it because you want to be a nurse, than that is great! because nurses and even nurse practictioners have made a lot of impact and are in great demand too (for far less schooling!) - Gracinda

3)   If you get a BA in nursing, you'll still have to take pre-med. Then you have to be accepted by a medical school and that;s really hard. My friend's daughter took her pre-med at Guelph, in nuclear medicine, was practically top of the class, and still couldn't get into med school. It is a very worthwhile career choice and I applaud you. Oncology is a field that will always need more people in it, but you realize that it is a hard job to get into it. Good luck to you in all things! - Paula

Question 4
What are the Maximum safe working hours for Stage 1 Leukemia?...  My uncle a 48 year old male works in a foundry, doing heavy labor, and he has stage 1 leukemia. He is working 12 hours a day seven days a week. Is this safe, or is there a safe limit for his number of hours.

Answers
1)   need more info like type of leukaemia and treatment etc. - Stephen

2)   It really depends on what type of leukemia he has and his treatment. During my leukemia, I couldnt work at all. But my great aunt works part time during her treatment, and I have a friend who has another type who is working near full time.

Now, even with his treatment and type allowing him to do that, he should back off a little and give his body time to rest. But for many people, its a catch 22. Have to pay the bills regardless of cancer, which means you have to work.

I would just say to encourage him to talk to his doctor about his work schedule. - midnightmoon

3)   Doctor - Qui je suis ?

Question 5
Breast cancer in male?...  The other day (last week) my friend hit me in my left nipple, now qa week later there is a abnormal "ball" i can feel underneath my nipple. There is nothing like this in my right nipple and im concerned. Could this be a sign of breast cancer?

Answers
1)   You don't develop cancer from being hit. It had to be there already. If you're having a problem, go see a doctor. - Paula

2)   A lump in the breast, especially in a male, can be one of the first signs of breast cancer. If you believe this could be the result of your friend hitting you, I would wait a week and see if it goes away. If after that long it doesn't, go to your PCP and see what they say. - Jamie Z

3)   No one gets breast cancer from getting an unexpected smack in the breast. Breast cancer is something totally different. - Jules
