my 18 year old girlfriend of two years is pregnant and has cancer and is going to refuse treatment?

Question 1
my 18 year old girlfriend of two years is pregnant and has cancer and is going to refuse treatment?...  my 18 year old girlfriend of two years has lymphoma. She is at 8 weeks in her pregnancy, we just found out on Monday. She is going to refuse treatment throughout the pregnancy because she says she does not wont to harm the baby, I am more worried about her though. I do not wont to lose her a baby can always happen but if something happens to her I will be lost. What can me, mine and her family, and our friends do to convince her that this is not a good idea. She has always been so stubborn but I do not see this being a good idea at all. She could lose her life. A baby can always happen again. I want the child don't get me wrong but her life is super important to me to especially since a child can happen again.

Answers
1)   it,s her call. she isn,t too worried about you, tho'. - David

2)   Its her own personal decision do be treated or to refuse the treatment. If you try to sway her in any direction she might end up resenting you for anything that happens as a result of that decision. Let her know that you will be there for her supporting her in what she decides to do. - Cassidy

3)   Colon cleaning is the latest technique to reduce weight. Scientists have illustrated the fact that not all additional weight is thanks to additional fat, a lot of weight basically lies there in your insides, and all you need to do is rinse it out. http://wagult.freehealthonline.info has a risk free trial on right now, give it a go, you could reduce up to 20 lbs! - Braiden

4)   there's a house episode like this. Tell her there is a good chance she could lose the baby anyway since her health is not going to be good. She should get the treatment first, then work on a new baby. - Julia

5)   That's a really tough situation to be in. Honestly, I would let her choose what she wants to do, because it's her body, her life, and her decision. She can always wait until after having the baby to get treatment. But if she gets the treatment now while she is pregnant, it can lead to birth defects and other health problems in the baby. It's her decision, so you have to think about why you should influence it or not. I really hope that everything turns out okay with your situation. - lcwoahh

6)   I don't know how to help you as it is her body.. However there are some alternative therapies out there which have healed cancer before if she is adamant about not getting the normal treatment. for example, kinesiology? talk to her about this and the options and how you feel. i do not know what else to say... good luck, I really hope she is saved! - Lirael

Question 2
Is it common for a cold sore to spread all over face, ears and shoulders?...  The ointment I was using is for impetigo, because I thought it odd that it was spreading so quickly, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I also have prescription ointment for cold sores as well.
My 8 yr old developed a cold sore on her nose this past weekend. It has since spread over both sides of her face, both ears and to one shoulder. I realize it can spread, but this happened within 4 days while using medication/ointment. Any thoughts?
She washes her hands consistently after touching any part of her body, using the restroom, before eating etc. Hence my concern that it's spreading so quickly.
she has not had a fever and said the sores don't itch
and she has had the chicken pox vaccine

Answers
1)   see a doc. it,s a viral infection. - David

2)   Cold sores usually do not spread. You might go to WebMd.com and type in impetigo and read up on this condition which would be my suspicion of what she has since it is spreading. It will need prescription medication to clear this up. - J B

3)   No, it is not common for a cold sore, Herpes simplex 2 to spread. It is usually confined to mucus membranes, cold sores on the lips or believed to be canker sores. For these sores to have spread to these other areas, you need to take your child to see the doctor. It sounds like chicken pox to me, fluid filled pockets that usually itch, preceeded by a fever. In extremely rare cases, if your child has already had chicken pox, shingles is the same virus that spreads and is attacks the nerve endings and is painful to the patient. Either way, your doctor needs to see your child for a proper diagnosis. - Cha Chi

4)   You should take your child to the emergency room to be checked out by a doctor.
Your child might have spreading the virus to other places on the body by touching the infection. The fingers, eyes, and other body areas can accidentally become infected in this way. Preventing self-infection is simple. Do not touch the area during an outbreak. If you do, wash your hands as soon as possible with soap and warm water. This will help prevent the virus from spreading further. - Cassidy

Question 4
Do I have the chicken pox [please read details]?...  Hi, I'm 14 years old and never have had the chickenpox. I got vaccinated when I was really little. I was supposed to get another vaccination last year and I never did.

A few weeks ago, (maybe like two or two and a half), chest was really itchy. And there has been a rash there ever since. One morning, I woke up and my upper back was really itchy. A 2 days ago, my neck started to get itchy and there is a rash there on the side. Also, my lower back got itch and there is a rash there and my chin became itchy as well.

My forehead and scalp was so itchy during the evening yesterday I couldn't stand it!

Also, I woke up in the middle of the night and I was scratching myself subconciously!!

I don't know if it's the chickenpox because they aren't little dots, it just a bumpy / blotchy rash.

Do I have the chickenpox? If I don't, what do I have? Should I go to the doctor?

Thank you!

Answers
1)   You could be having an allergic reaction to some food, product, soap, medication. Taking some Benadryl regularly until the rash goes away will get rid of the itching. Chicken pox is a red sore with a fluid-filled vesicle in the middle of it which then breaks open and makes a crusty scab. This does not sound like chicken pox. - J B

2)   no doesnt sound like chicken pox, they come up as blisters and come up within a week and also start as a blister and turn into scabs within a day or two,by now you would be covered in spots that had scabbed and were falling off - dumplingmuffin

3)   I agree with JB. I sounds like an allergic reaction to something. Did you change soap, lotion or laundry detergent lately? - mardaw
