can I sue a doctor for prescribing the wrong medicine for diabetes that caused my heart problems?

Question 1
can I sue a doctor for prescribing the wrong medicine for diabetes that caused my heart problems?...  I have diabetes and took a medicine that cause my heart to lose over 50% of capacity. My cardiologist and this doctor who prescribed the wrong medicine never communicated with each other as to which medicine I was taking and if the one that I took for diabetes was bad for my heart.

Answers
1)   You'd need to sue them for "Failure in their Duty of Care" and you'd also have to show that there were no clearly worded side-effect warnings in or on the packs of medication which you received.

Which medicines were implicated? What were their dosage rates? - G'hound

2)   You should use avandia, it is the best about it you can get information from here http://canmdh62.notlong.com/AAwtwGh - Arletha Lutgen

3)   It would really be helpful to know what medication you are talking about. If a physician prescribes the 'wrong medication' and it this medication lead to 'harm' then yes you have a solid basis for a malpractice suit. The initial problem is in defining what is the right and / or wrong medication. It is not uncommon for a drug to be widely utilized before we become aware of potential problems. I am not able to think of a diabetic medication that might cause your heart to lose 50% of capacity (I am not certain what you mean by this). The thiazolidinediones pioglitazone (Actos) and rosiglitazone (Avandia) are both presumed to have the potential for cardiovascular complications. Rosiglitazone should have been abandoned several years ago after it became clear that there was a link with myocardial infarctions (heart attacks) although this was not known when the drug was approved. Pioglitazone carries a warning that it may cause or worsen systolic heart failure. If the clinical studies are examined carefully the data does not support this conclusion. It is true that pioglitazone may lead to swelling in the feet and ankles but this does not in and of itself indicate heart failure. If you provide me with more specific information I will try to be of further assistance. I wish you the very best of health and in all things may God bless. - john e russo md facm faafp

4)   According to current US Law, YOU also have a certain amount of responsibility to see that your records are properly transferred -- even if that means you have to carry them yourself.

You would also have to prove that the diabetes medication damaged YOUR heart. it is one thing to say that a side effect could be heart damage, it is quite another to PROVE that it damaged YOUR heart.

AND -- heart damage is a well-known side effect of diabetes. So, how can your PROVE that the damage was caused ny the medication and not simply by the fact that you have diabetes?

you COULD start a lawsuit, but you would spend more money taking it to trial (MANY years...) than you would receive in a judgment.

your BEST bet would be to spend you money at a church, and give thanks to god that you are still alive. - Gary B

5)   You can file a suit for anything you want. The question is whether there is enough evidence to convince a jury that the docs made a mistake that caused your heart problems. The best place to start is to get your medical records from both docs, find an attorney that specializes in medical malpractice, and take your records to the attorneys for a consultation. Usually the initial consultation is free. - formerly_bob

There are so many brands of exfoliates but Ive been using one for around 1 week and ive felt cleaner that usual and I've noticed signs of my skin cleaning up but that just my skin. Question 3
Tiny red bumps on my face?...  My face used to be smooth and perfectly fine.. but one morning about a week ago I literally woke up to a whole different complexion. I have these tiny red bumps covering my entire face.. They're only visible extremely close up, but it's making my face bright red.. I haven't touched anything new or used any new products.. the only thing I can think of that I've changed is I have forgotten to take my thyroid medicine this week. Question 4
i am 68 yrs old,a female and in good health,im also a very high strung individual?...  im prone to dizziness brought on by the medication im taking for high blood pressure,i had an episode last night here my heart was racing and i could not get up without tettering, the more i felt it the faster my heart would race, to the point of making me sweat.im hoping that it doesnt occur anymore.
it was very scary.

Answers
1)   It sounds like it was scary for you....you may want to tell your pharmacist about this, and even tell your doctor also...they will probably take your message and then call you back when they can...shouldn't take long....Goodluck! - freetimeman

2)   Have you talked to your Dr. about this? That's the first place to start. I'm 68 as well I also take a "slew" of medications once in awhile when I first get up in the am I may feel a little dizzy but it will soon pass, I think this is just a part of life...have a great life - rugga1

3)   You should talk to your doctor about it.
If your highly strung then it could have been some sort of panic attack and if it was a panic attack then your heart beats faster anyway because your scared.
Why don't you ask the doctor to change your blood pressure tablets to a different sort that might not cause dizziness, I take Lisinopril and I have no problems with them but then again everybody is different.
Best to get it sorted because the sooner you do, the less you'll worry.
Good Luck. - Vicky

Question 5
could I have Toxic shock syndrome?...  about a week ago I accidentally left a tampon in over night. so I think it ended up being in for about 16 hours. Now I have been having diarrhea and Iv been feeling a little light headed. however I live in a dorm with no a/c and its about 89 degrees in here during the day. I also just moved in so I have been doing a lot of moving around and carrying heavy things. Should I be worried about TSS?

Answers
1)   no - Dakota Andrus

2)   No if you had TSS trust me you would feel it. Also it wouldnt take a week to feel the affects of it, it would happened right at the time you left it in. So don't worry, you;re fine! - Katie

3)   If you are concerned then you should go see your doctor right away. Make sure you keep yourself hydrated though because it sounds to me like your are probably dehydrated. If you experience high fever, rash, low blood pressure, then it is likely that you have gotten TSS and you should get yourself to the hospital ASAP. I hope this helps.
