Question 2
Grandma forgetting where she is and who we are?...  This morning my grandma woke up and could not remember where she was, or who we were, her family. She kept on repeating, "Where am I?" and "Who are you?" and she looked very confused. After a while she remembered everything, and now she is back to normal, but she said she has a pain on the back of her head, and her stomach is uneasy. This has been happening frequently, and always after waking up. What could it be? She is staying with us because we like her over here to take care of her. And also she has hypothyroidism, diabetes, and high blood pressure. What is happening with her?

Answers
1)   take her to the doctor!!!! - Patricia*AtL

2)   i'm not sure, maybe you should consalt your GP if it's frequent? it doesn't really sound like ilzimers but i'm no expert. it's best to get it checked out just to be safe :) - Neon Tiger =]

3)   Amnesia, maybe? - Metallic Blackout

4)   Alzheimer - Vannessa

5)   If this just started today she had a stroke and you need to get her to the hospital very quickly. Timing is critical. Call an ambulance. NOW!

If this has been developing slowly over time, getting a littel worse over the last month or so, it sounds like a form of dementia that is getting advanced. It could be one of a few different forms of dementia and you will need a geriatric Dr and their referrals to specialists to get a firm idea of which specific dementia - be it Alzheimer's or a number of others. - Rob

6)   I'm sorry to say that this sounds a little like beginnings of alzheimers/dementia or possibly some form of mini-stroke, especially if she has high blood pressure. Keep a note of all unusual things that happen with her and keep checking in subtly with her to see if she is aware of everything around her and where she is. Get her checked out asap and help her, if needed, explain to the doctor or hospital, exactly what she experienced. - alcibie

Question 4
swollen lymph nodes in the belly for 8 months in a 50 year old male, non cancerous. Ideas?...  Nausea, vomiting, weight loss over 50 lbs., diareah, difficulty eating and occasionally swallowing. Chronic tenderness and sharp pains in abdomen. Had lymph nodes removed from back of neck 11-12 years ago, biopsy showed no cancer but was unable to identify what was clogging the lymph nodes. Belly lymph nodes are 4,7,9, and 11mm in size. Antibiotics were of no help.

Answers
1)   Hmmm

Lymph nodes swell up when they are fighting an infection but this is on a different level.

Have you sought the advise of a Dr? Might want to ask if a endocrinologist is a good idea while you are there. Have you traveled to any places where diseases are common? India, Mexico, Central America, South America etc etc. If so how long ago? Could be you should check with a tropical diseases specialist if so cause some of those bugs do strange stuff.

You may need to ask your Dr for referrals to the specialists. At least you'll need the names of the right kinds of specialists to find them.

Might also be a ruptured small or large intestine as the stuff in those are downright toxic if they get into your blood stream. Have you had an abdominal recently recently? If so that means a immediate trip to a hospital. I mean immediate!

Good luck. - Rob

3)   Krishna, are you a doctor? I doubt it! Cheryl, you have to be seen by a doctor ASAP. - davie
