I need help..Please..My fiance is very sick?

Question 1
I need help..Please..My fiance is very sick?...  I need some advice..My fiance has acute leukemia and pneumonia. I go up there everyday for about 10-11 hours non-stop. Today his kidney's weren't doing so well. He has too much fluids in his body. He is in one of the best hospitals in the world..John Hopkins Hospital. It's pretty bad though his whole family is coming down. I just don't know what to do anymore.. The hospital say's he is very sick right now.. Hasn't done any chemo or surgies. He's asleep on sedation and paralayzed. With a breathing tube, stomach tube, and a tube that goes to his kidneys that are getting some of the fluids out. His heart rate is good, blood pressure good, he isnt fighting the oxygen tube. But he does have a fever. I asked if he's going to make it they said they can't promise me anything.. Do you think he will make it? He's very strong emotionally and physically.. He is only 30 years old..

Answers
1)   Keep him in your thoughts dreams and prayers.
God will keep him on this world until your fiance is just ready to go.
Sadly you cant keep him here forever):
If you know hes going to go soon make him comfortable.
Be there.
Bring something you both loved and cherished.
Bring up good old memories:
e.g. how you met
the thing you love most about him
etc.
Good luck and good luck to him too.
Im so sorry for your loss): - EmZyE

2)   I don't want to give false hope also, but as long as his vital signs are in good working condition, you can hope for the better... Just pray for no more complications...Good Luck!...My sympathy is with you...By the way, a fever is often times a sign that tells us that the body is fighting whatever it is that needs to be eliminated inside the body...It's a good sign though that his system is still working great... - Natty_Dread

3)   i have been in the medical field for many years, and what you have describe is not the best situation he can be in. i'm very sorry to say that the odds are not stack in his favor at this time. right now it is a fight with his body, each organ system is slowly shutting down. i wish you all the luck and prayers in the world, and i hope he does make it through. - AmongtheShadows

4)   I feel like any answer will be the wrong one to say in this case. If I say, sure, he'll live, and he doesn't that would make me a liar for giving you false hope. If I say no, there's no way, then I'm not exactly helping am I? All you can do is wait for a prognosis... and I will say, as unfair as it is, his chances aren't looking good how you describe it. The mortality rate is about 60%. I know these things seem like you put your heart in the doctor's hands and hope they don't fail you, but there is a chance that he will get better. You have my greatest sympathy, and hopes that he will get better. - Ian Saff

5)   I don't know what type of leukemia your fiance has, but from what you are describing( I hate to say this) but it doesn't sound good. The only thing you can do is pray-for him, for yourself, and the family. I feel really bad for you cuz my fiance (8 yrs ago) died of leukemia. He only had it a little over a year and suffered alot. I am thankful he is not suffering anymore. Sometimes even the best hospitals cannot do anything. I will light a candle and say a prayer for you all. I am sorry that you are going through this. Try to stay strong. - Deb

Question 2
What causes appendicitis?...  I have two questions:

I) What causes appendicitis? Once my health teacher said that if you smoke you can get appendicitis, but then he said you can only get it if your born with it. He said appendicitis is when your appendicitis grows until it explodes inside you unless you can get it out. What causes appendicitis and can you get it from smoking?

II) Can you get sick if you eat a raw egg? Or is it healthy? If I cracked open a egg (yolk and egg white and all) and put it in a cup and drank it, would I get sick?

2)   is caused when the appendix becomes blocked by stool or foreign body. sometimes tumor - A

3)   for your first question only, an appendicitis is when a collection of food particles gets stuck in the duct of your appendix. it then gets inflamed and very painful. if not treated, will burst and cause severe pain and can lead to death. - AmongtheShadows

4)   On the basis of experimental evidence, acute appendicitis seems to be the end result of a primary obstruction of the appendix lumen.[6][7] Once this obstruction occurs the appendix subsequently becomes filled with mucus and swells, increasing pressures within the lumen and the walls of the appendix, resulting in thrombosis and occlusion of the small vessels, and stasis of lymphatic flow. Rarely, spontaneous recovery can occur at this point. As the former progresses, the appendix becomes ischemic and then necrotic. As bacteria begin to leak out through the dying walls, pus forms within and around the appendix (suppuration). The end result of this cascade is appendiceal rupture (a 'burst appendix') causing peritonitis, which may lead to septicemia and eventually death.

Among the causative agents, such as foreign bodies, trauma, intestinal worms, lymphadenitis, and calcified deposits known as appendicoliths,[8] the occurrence of an obstructing fecalith has attracted attention. The prevalence of fecaliths in patients with appendicitis is significantly higher in developed than in developing countries[9], and an appendiceal fecalith is commonly associated with complicated appendicitis[10]. Also, fecal stasis and arrest may play a role, as demonstrated by a significantly lower number of bowel movements per week in patients with acute appendicitis compared with healthy controls[11]. The occurrence of a fecalith in the appendix seems to be attributed to a right sided fecal retention reservoir in the colon and a prolonged transit time[12]. From epidemiological data it has been stated that diverticular disease and adenomatous polyps were unknown and colon cancer exceedingly rare in communities exempt for appendicitis[13][14]. Also, acute appendicitis has been shown to occur antecedent to cancer in the colon and rectum[15]. Several studies offer evidence that a low fiber intake is involved in the pathogenesis of appendicitis[16] [17][18]. This is in accordance with the occurrence of a right sided fecal reservoir and the fact that dietary fiber reduces transit time. - Lisa Brown

5)   I) Your appendix is a small vestigial (unnecessary) organ on your intestine. It hangs off the corner of your intestine on the right side (lower right abdomen). It is a little pocket that is open to the intestine - where your digesting food is moving through. What causes appendicitis (inflammation of appendix) is when the "food" gets packed into it and becomes blocked. It will then become infected and mucus will fill it, causing it to eventually rupture. Smoking does not cause appendicitis (at least not directly, but smoking is very bad for you, and you should not do it.

II) Yes, you can get sick if you eat a raw egg, if it is contaminated with salmonella. Most of the time, they are not contaminated, but there is always a risk - buy pasteurized eggs or see link below to pasteurize yourself. - Sheryl

Question 3
How can i get rid of a burn from toothpaste?...  i tried the "toothpaste on a zit will dry it up" thing and I have red spots every where i put the toothpaste. Is it permanent? How do i get rid of it?
No, i'm not allergic to peppermint or toothpaste. i might have left it on too long. i washed it off with warm water i think, looked into the mirror and i have red spots from where the toothpaste was.

Answers
1)   Are you like allergic to toothpaste??? Hmm... Idk. - Sofrie

2)   did you rub it with lukewarm water?

are you allergic to peppermint? - Brandon

3)   No it's not permanent. Give it a couple of days and it should be better. Your skin just got irritated, probably from the minty freshness :) - super.

4)   THAT'S WRONG! never ever use toothpaste for zits its not good, if u have a zit try to use something that the doctor gave u, i use something called KLINDMAIZIN, but let me tell ya a reality zits never go completely and they can't be cured completely b ut the medicine deactivates it
good luck - alan

5)   it depends on your skin type and depends on how severe it is.
it will likely go away in no time.
and it's used for just pimples and zits, not acne. so it's better to only apply it in one or two spots where there's blemishes.
the reaction could also be the toothpaste you're using. white toothpaste is much better. if you're using so, then it's probably your skin type. - -alyssawarren-
