Diabetic blood prick in the wrist?

Question 1
Diabetic blood prick in the wrist?...  If I pricked the vein in my wrist with a diabetic needle, would I bleed absolutely loads or would it only bleed a little and then stop?

Thanks.

Answers
1)   Now why would you want to know that? There is no way I am going to give advice on self-harming. - Petrusclavus

2)   Pricking a vein is never a good idea. If you don't want to do your fingers today for some reason try the arm or thigh (not near joints or veins!) - Lorraine

3)   one, it will hurt a LOT more (im a diabetic, i know!). two, if you hit a vein, then yeah, you will bleed. it's like cutting yourself. three, there are a lot of other places you can try, like legs and arms.

i say no. hope i helped! :) - Caleb Haalapa

4)   While it is recommended that a diabetic prick a finger for a blood glucose reading, other areas can be used. Assuming you're using the standard, over-the-counter, lancet the puncture made is so small that you are not going to bleed much UNLESS you have a blood clotting problem. Why not just avoid the vein altogether? - M&M37909

5)   If you applied pressure it would stop pretty quickly. It's as if giving blood - same thing. - dude

Question 2
My daughter came home with head lice and now I think I might have it.?...  On Sunday night (today is Wednesday) I gave my daughter the rid lice treatment and took care of it. I haven't seen anything in her hair since and I have checked and combed everynight since. I was itchy for awhile before I even knew she had lice. So on Monday I gave myself the lice treatment. I saturated my dry hair with the lice killing shampoo and combed my hair with 3 different lice combs over every one inch section of my hair, took me forever. I wiped and rinsed the combs throughout. I felt better right away, as far as the itchiness went. But I still itch two days later. I itched the day after too. Not nearly as bad as before and not even close to being as often. Definetly not even remotely close to as intense as it was before. During this whole time I have not seen any bugs or eggs in my hair. But obviously I can't see every part of my head to tell. Could I have lice? Or is it possible for the lice killing shampoo cause scalp irritation? Does anyone know of a at home remedy that for sure works that doesnt have 80 ingrediants? Im 35 weeks prego and my doc said it was ok to use rid (so I used it on Monday) but I don't think it could be good to use it again, especially so soon.
I did wash EVERYTHING in hot water, vacuumed, got rid of the brushes-bought new ones, and put all non washable items in airtight plastic bags- before both of the treatments.

1)   You didn't mention about washing the clothes and giving everything a good cleaning. Nits can live in beds, couches, clothes, stuffed animals, etc. You have to treat the whole house. - Veritas

2)   If you didn't find any eggs or bugs when you did the treatment, I'd say you should be fine. I would get a really good mosturizing shampoo/conditioner for your scalp. Everyone reacts differently to chemicals and that's what RID is. If you are still concerned about having lice, go to your doctor's office. They should be willing to do a head check for you just to be sure. - Red-1982

3)   If the bottle has a 1-800 custimer service number. I'd call them to see what they say or

www.rid.com - bonnie b

4)   lice shampoo sometimes don't help so what you should do is get mayo and cover her head and your head lice don't like mayo then cover your head in a plastic bag like a walmart bag or what ever and keep it on ur head for 1 hour go in the sun for 20 mins and it should kill it. when i was younger i had lice so bad we almost had to shave my head but we found out mayo works so try it. - Emily G

Question 3
what happens when someone stop taking diabetes medication?...  i have a co-worker that stopped taking her medication and insulin shot cause she thanks she don't need it. but she tired and about to fall asleep before leaving work. i told our boss they don't thank nothing of it. i wander what going to happen to her to?

Answers
1)   She is going to have high blood sugar. She is also an idiot. She will ultimately have kidney failure and a host of other chronic problems if she continues to do so. She will think she is fine, while her body slowly breaks down. - Matt R

2)   her blood sugar will RISE and she can go into a coma and die--it can also go too low and she can go comatose--and die..Can swing either way

Get her to the ER...asap - bonnie b

3)   She could go into a coma if her blood sugar gets too high.

j - E-vangelist

4)   That could be really serious. She probably knows what she's doing (I hope) but if she has made a mistake and dosen't inject soon it could be fatal. What is especially worrying is that some diabetics get really aggressive when they are hypo/hyper but some just feel kind of faint or maybe tired. Most diabetics can tell when they need more sugar/insulin though. Has she been a diabetic for long? Keep an eye on her if you can. - GraceGrapello

Question 4
The severity of childhood illness is more today than it was in the past..?...  can you guys help me by giving some good points to this statement..

Answers
1)   Severity is up because mortality is down. sicker kids are being kept alive and continue to be sick rather then just dieing. - Alex E

2)   Yeah sure. Let's see... measles has incr... nevermind. Um... diptheria is on the rise... wait no that's not true. How about chicken pox. Yeah! Wait no thats not causing as many problems anymore. Ok fine I got it- Rubella! No, thats almost gone now. Maybe whooping cough or haemophilus infection? No those are down too. Man. this is hard! Vaccines have pretty much gotten rid of childhood infections.

OK here- Autism rates have increased! But of course that's because of changes in the diagnosing criteria and increased screening.

Um. I don't think you have a case here. AT. ALL. - Matt R

3)   Today's kids are more obese, eat awful diets, less active, rarely get fresh air or sunshine. Combined with environmental toxins that can't be avoided is creating a generation that won't live longer then there parents. - CAB

Question 5
I have herpes and im addicted to sex, what do i do?...

Answers
1)   Cut it off and keep that $hit to yourself - chester stone

2)   Just Keep in mind Sex is a gift from God for marriage.

It is prohibited by god to not have sex with a lot of people to protect us from:

Genital herpes, HPV, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Genital Warts, HIV/ AIDS, other unknown STD's to us.

A lot of these STD's can be transmitted by simple skin to skin contact and you have to carry along the baggage for a life time.

I guess everyone takes for granted what sex really is, until there faced with a horrible consequence. Keep it for a special person, and explain your situation. If they love you they will undestand. Please do not expose others without telling them.

I wish you the best of luk! - Ali C

3)   If your addicted to sex, like anything, seek help. Otherwise, get over it. Its lame you got herpes, sometimes it can happen to anyone, sometimes it was because a stupid choice was made. Own it! Don't go spreading that stuff to anyone whos willing to bed down with you. Be resposible and let your partner know before anything goes too far. That feeling you had when you got it shouldn't be given to anyone else, it sucks. There are singles sites you can find for people with STD's so that you can at least meet up with people with the same disease as yourself. Its not the end of the world, but, relationships take careful planning from now on. - Robert
