side effects of quitting smoking?

Question 1
side effects of quitting smoking?...  i know it sounds silly, as most people would think that any effects of quitting smoking would be positive ones, but here's what's going on with me after almost three weeks without smoking.

1. i can't stop coughing and my voice is hoarse.
2. my ears tickle inside so bad that it makes me wanna scream.
3. i can't sleep. i've been averaging about four hours a night most nights.
4. i'm constantly exhausted and have no energy.

is this normal? it's been happening since day two. i can't stand it! these issues are worse than the actual withdrawal symptoms. i just feel sick and awful.

Answers
1)   i dont smoke - Tyler

2)   you were an addict. you are in withdrawal. - David

3)   You're doing fine , 14 months since I stopped - still got a mild cough.
The coughing is your lungs cleaning - the gunk hits your vocal cords on the way out.
Ears tickle - hello regrowing capillaries getting better
Can't sleep - couple more weeks and you will sleep like a log
Exhaustion - yah - you're body is using all reserves to heal (and you not sleeping) this will pass and energy will be better than before. - Petrusclavus

4)   it sounds like you are having withdrawl symptoms, I had them for about six months and it was hard!
Once your body is used to addiction of any sort, it freaks out when you dont have it. Stick to the good work you've been doing and in time the symptoms will pass. This is the hard part, and go ahead and scream! It will make you feel better... - charmz

5)   Honey its the nicotine in cigarettes that makes you addicted. When you give up suddenly you begin to experience all these nasty withdrawal symptoms/side effects. I strongly suggest nicotene tablets or patches. You could of slowly given up instead like giving up only one cigarette each day too. - Crow

6)   Water intake is too often taken for granted. I would say you definitely need to drink more water. Lots of it. Get into the habit of drinking copious amounts. The effect is quick - in a couple of days you'll feel much better.

As I recall, 3-6 weeks after quitting was the toughest period. Once you push past that point, it's an easy ride for the rest of your nonsmoking life. Hang in there and I promise you you will be so glad you did. Your health and your bank account will thank you everyday. - LIORA Reincarnationist

Question 2
just found out my 14 year old is smoking pot?...  let me start by saying that my daughter has always been a awsome kid, very kind, loving generous sweet girl, I have NEVER had any issues with her, as a matter of fact, I always thought everyone should have a daughter like her, recently I noticed that she was wanting to hang out with her friends more then usual and it was out of character for her so it made me wonder, last night I just flat out asked her if she was smoking pot and she instantly started to cry and said yes, she said she wanted to tell me but was scared I would no longer treat her the same and all my love and trust for her would be gone.(of course this would never happen), I dont know how to deal with this correctly, I am not a pot smoker and have never been. I dont want her to think that I accept it but I also dont want to be so harsh that I push her into more problems?, what would you do?
Also it doesnt help that I have a 18 year old daughter and her 5 month old son who live with me also and she is treating her like she has a plaque, even though I lived through 2 years of hell with her, drugs drinking sneaking out and now a baby, i think if anything she should be kind and understanding not making her sister feel unwanted in her own home, I also think it just is none of her Business, i want to deal with this correctly but I am not sure what the correct way is

1)   You can't stop her, let her have fun when it doesn't mattert so she won't screw up later down the road. And this really isnt a respritory disease. - ripTiDE

2)   sorry but u do need to be harsh ...
... first of all you have to make her stop seeing these "friends", because they will always act like: "if you don't smoke, you wont be one of us anymore"... Its the right time for you to act, otherwise she'll get addicted - Klauss☻

3)   You should verbally warn her, telling her not to do it again, ground her for a bit or something like that. As for your 18 year old, remind her of what she did and tell her to leave your 14 year old alone - Loldude223

4)   Talk to her about it and explain why you don't want her doing it. I'm not against pot myself but that's too young and usually at that age it goes together with other.. bad things. Make sure she knows she can talk to you about anything, otherwise she'll just sneak around. Encourage her to hang out with other people if at all possible. - olive yağ

5)   First things first tell the 18 year old it is none of her business and to grow up, your the mom not her. Second at 14 kids mess up, I suggest if she is smoking with those friends; bye bye she can't hang out anymore. Get her into counseling so she can deal with peer pressure better, and to help with self worth. If you can't afford it sometimes you can get free counseling. - ldg

1)   Occasionally dieting and exercise basically is not enough, because there will be excess weight basically lying around in the insides. I am getting insurance through the same company on May 1st. Would this be considered a pre-existing medical condition and not be covered? Do I have to start all over again.
