How to get rid of warts?...  I have a wart on my knee and i have done for a year. I am only 14 and it is getting really embrasssing. I have tried the ffreeze wart thing and it really hurt and i don't want to do it again. Nothing changed! I want a way of getting rid of warts within 2 weeks which is not painful,please!

2)   Warts take a long time to go unless you cut them off (ouch). Your immune system has to fight it of in its own time. let your brain do it's thing. your body will heal it self. much of this self healing occurs when you are sleeping. so you really need to rest /sleep well.

4)   Your only choices are to buy and use the over-the-counter stuff that you have to apply to the wart repeatedly (daily, or however often the package instructions say) OR you could go to a doctor's office, and have them freeze it off in one sitting. Either way, it's going to hurt a LOT. But, if a doctor does it, in a single sitting, at least it's completely gone right away.

Whatever method you decide on, a little tip to reduce the pain is if you constantly blow on the wart after the stuff that burns is put on, it hurts less.

Just be very, very careful not to touch the wart, and then touch another part of your body. Warts are caused by a virus that's transfered from skin to skin contact.

Another over-the-counter product you should look for is one that has the "medicine" in the pad portion of something that looks like a bandaid that you wear over the wart, changing it daily, until the wart disppears. I'm not confident it would be less painful, and it may just serve to call attention to your wart.

I've never had a wart in a place that was easy to see. But, I did have a friend in grade school that had one on her index finger. So, I can kindof empathize with you. I once used those medicated pad things to remove a plantar's wart from the heel of my foot. It worked, and as I recall it wasn't any more painful to use the adhesive pads than it was to just walk on the plantar's wart. So, that might be your best option. Question 2
My nail has stopped growing?...  When I was on holiday, I crushed my little finger in the balcony door. It went black and swollen, but I didn't drain it, because it was too painful to touch. Two months later, and it still looks the same, and it hasnt grown at all. It feels like the nail wants to come off. What do I do? Thanks :)

Can I get HIV this way?...  Ok...here's the thing...I got slapped really hard by a girl with HIV last week....The slap was on the cheek and needless to say it left a mark...I enjoyed the slap but now I am worried that I may have gotten HIV if the girl had blood on her hands....Is it possible?

1)   No - there may theoretically be chance of transmission if you had an open bleeding cut and were hit by a hand that was also bleeding at the time, but as HIV virus is actually very weak and breaks down when outside of the controlled temperature and environment of the human body, I wouldn't worry at all. - Gavin
