Question 3
14 year old chest pains?...  hi i am 14 years old. i have been having slight chest pains just underneath my breast's and my ribs i would say the pain is at both sides. i so worry about it i think anybody would. i have really lost my apotite a lilttle since i started to have the pains i have been to doctors recently they have told me it looks like muscular pain. I also have ashma so i dont know if that could be the cause but is this rare in teenage years?. please give awnsers x

Answers
1)   it could be a inflammed chest wall. Sometimes it can make breathing hard and be painful. - Brandon

2)   Well chest pain covers a lot of things. It could be anything from pneumonia to a badly bruised rib. But if you went to the doctor and they told you what it was, I'm not so sure why you would come to an online community comprised mainly of people who don't know jack s**t about medicine. The thing that separates your doctor from the people on this site is that your doctor went to school for eight years to learn everything there is about being a doctor, while a good percentage of the people on this site haven't even finished college. If your doctor gave you an answer you can almost guarantee that their opinion is better than that of anybody on this site. That being said, let's go with what the doctor said and pick muscular pain. - JT_Grogan

3)   might be bronchitis! - prety girl

Question 4
What is checked for in a urine sample?...  I am to take a medical test to check my physical condition. I think a urine sample will be required. I know that often it is used to check for illegal drugs but is this always the case or is it to check for any diseases or conditions I may have?

I am signing a new contract at work which requires a medical, my employers already carry out random drug testing using urine samples. This why I am wondering if this urine sample will be used to check for something other than drugs.

Answers
1)   They usually check for just drugs if it is for work. - Class Of 2011

2)   Mostly the urine ...

No but seriously I have no idea. - 7ducks

3)   I think diabetes (sugar) is checked in urine sample.
for example if you are a sugar patient then your in-taken glucose is not converted to glycogen and glucose (sugar) is secreted via urine also. - Umair

Question 5
Sweating like crazy and BO sometimes! what can I do!?...  I am a very hygenic person bathe daily, twice in the summer with antibacterial soap etc. But in the last couple of years I have began sweating like crazy. First it was just the armpits, now it has moved to my face and groin area. And the rest of my body sweats too! I probably wouldnt care as much but sometimes its not the best smell and the smell of my sweat smells like a man now! It is really embarrasing and making me not even want to do the most minor of physical activity or even go out sometimes because it is getting hot now! I dont want this to ruin my social life. I find myself all day worried which probably makes it worse...I have changed my diet, used perscription deoderant and also tried chlorphllyl. Notihing is really working in my opinion. Not to sound concieted but I am an attractive person and I have seen people smell themselves because I guess they assume it is them and not me. I dont know why this is happening to me. I think it maybe genetic b/c my father sweat like crazy. But a man sweating and a woman is two TOTALLY different things! Any alternative suggestions?

Answers
1)   Omg i have your exact SAME problem. I sweat like crazy as well & it started about 3 years ago. I have a bad smell also & im constantly wiping myself using deodorant, spraying perfume,, just doing anything to keep myself smelling fresh. I barely go out cuz of this problem either. You have hyperhidrosis. Its excessive sweating. Um you should try certain-dri or drysol. Drysol worked for me for about two weeks then stopped working. :( idk it might work for you because it worked for ALOT of people. But everyone has differfent reactions to things. Just give it a try & if you go to a doctor he/she will probably recommend drysol. - KayK

2)   Excessive sweating is a condition that scientists call "hyperhidrosis" - it's caused by over-active sweat glands. Usually the problem affects only certain areas - armpits, palms, face, etc. If you suffer from this you know how embarrassing it can be, and limiting to the way you live your life. Especially in the coming hot summer months, the problem can become even worse. The anxiety which sweating causes, often perpetuates the problem - it increases sweating even more.
If you are overweight,it will cause you to sweat even more!
Think about it,have you gained weight over the last few years?

Drink more water - that will keep your body temperature lower, which will reduce sweating. Wear loose clothing made out of polyester - do not wear cotton, as it dries slowly and does not allow air to pass through.

Here is a remedy, that has been known to work in some cases:

Make a paste out of baking soda and water, and apply that solution to your armpits - let it dry. Brush off the excess soda that forms, and you're good to go. Do this a few times per day for a few days, and hopefully, the sweating will be reduced. - smokeeeeeyyy
