does anyone know a good product for acne?

Question 1
does anyone know a good product for acne?...  i've used some products but none of them have worked so far. what about proactive?

Answers
1)   I really like Differin. Thank goodness my insurance pays for it. - The Penguins Bowtie

2)   dab a bit of mayonnaise on your face before you go to sleep - Joe D

3)   i bought my boyfriend proactive and he loves it.
he has very bad acne and it works for him.
his skin is so much clearer. - Adrianna

4)   clearisal i think that is how you spell it use it like it says and you will have clear skin in no time - Victoria

5)   proactive really works but if you stop using it, all the acne would come back - baby doll

6)   Everyone is different. I have a buddy that used pro active and it never worked for him. You just have to test out different acne medicines and see how they work for you. Consult your dermatologist.
P.S. He still has acne. Nothing has worked for him yet. - Sancho

7)   um the best "product" for acne is basically your diet. if you eat bad foods, and dont have a healthy hygiene you will probably have ongoing acne even though you waste money with all those products. try to eat lots of fruits/vegetables and drink lots of water. also try to wash your face with a simple scrub and your face will clear up in time. - PhoChinNam

8)   CLEARASIL ULTRA's acne cream is amazing!!! ($9-10)

neutrogena also has an acne cream ($8)

available @ walgreens/cvs/target/pharmacy

use this 3-step routine: even proactive uses a 3-step system because it works!

1. wash (neutrogena's is good. johnson+johnson's & clean&clear's washes are creamy-er)

2. tone (neutrogena has a really good toner w/ acne treatment: clear pores its called. $7-8)

3. moisterizer (clinique is really good. won 5x in glamour magazine's annual best moisterizer contest. $24) @ sephora, macy's, online.

if you have an oily face, then use oil sheets ($5 @ walgreens/cvs/target/pharmacies). they really help me.

biore's nose strips are really good for you too if you have an oily/clogged sin. - angel

9)   Look if you want to eliminate it completely and have a healthy skin, the best you can do is go to a dermatologist, they can give a bunch of stuff but seriously is worth it ... i don't have acne anymore ....... if you don't want to go then i can recommend you clinique, this helped a little.... =) - Rochester☺

10)   Acne comes from the inside out. Your probably not drinking enough water and eat a pretty unhealthy diet. Try cutting down on sodium, refined sugar and refined carbs (basically junk food), and eating more fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Also try taking a probiotic supplement, as a yeast overgrowth in the intestines can also cause an outbreak. Be sure your washing your face twice daily as well. And try not to use those chemical-filled acne treatments on your skin. They're not proven bad yet, but there also is no long term research on them that says they don't cause skin cancer from prolonged use either. If you look at skin cancer rates, they seem to be going up with the amount of chemical filled goop people put on their skin.

I wash my face with plain water, and don't wear makeup. I eat healthy I have never had more than a few tiny zits in warm weather, even though acne runs pretty bad in my family. - Kiwi is my bird-o

11)   I did some research and talked to my doctor to find the most common causes of acne.

• Hormones: The number one cause of acne is the production of sex hormones, known as androgen, that begins at puberty. This is why majority of acne sufferers are adolescents and teens. Hormones are responsible for then acne flare-ups during menstruation and pregnancy.

• When the sebaceous gland is stimulated by androgens, it produces extra sebum. In its journey up the follicle toward the surface, the sebum mixes with common skin bacteria and dead skin cells that have been shed from the lining of the follicle. While this process is normal, the presence of extra sebum in the follicle increases the chances of clogging — and acne.

• Stress: can also cause the production of hormones, such as cortisol, which can aggravate acne. Stress brings upon different hormone levels. With hormone changes the body prompts the skins oil glands to enlarge, secreting more oil. Which causes white heads, black heads and pimples.

• Oily or heavy make up: Heavy make-up clogs the pores and oily make-ups add more oil, which only adds to the problem if oily skin already exists. Cosmetics, especially certain moisturizers, foundations and pomades contain lanolin, petrolatum, vegetable oils, butyl stearate, lauryl alcohol and oleic acid.

• Certain medications and steroids: Vitamins are good for your body, But an excess of vitamins B1, B6 and B12 can cause acne flare-ups. These vitamins are good for the skin, but avoid overuse.

• Diets: For some people, a diet that is high in refined carbohydrates and sugars can actually aggravate their acne.

• Over abrasive cleansing: Harsh exfoliators can damage skin and spread infections.

• Picking and squeezing: This can actually send the infection deeper into the skin and can cause scarring.

• Environmental irritants: such as high humidity and pollution. High humidity actually causes swelling of skin. Pollution is of course is a big cause for clogging your pores.

• Genes: Family members who are also acne sufferers. Acne is inherited and severe cases known as cystic acne usually come from heredity.

And..,

Different acne treatments work differently for different people ;-) but I have compiled some info on Proactiv for you, based on reported experience:

Question 3
What should be my limit on how much sugar I eat daily?...  My mom has type 2 diabetes and so does my aunt. I'm afraid that I'm gonna get it. So what should be my limit in grams?

Answers
1)   FATTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - dsfgdsf

2)   i just think you shouldnt be eating alot of sugar because if your mum has it you have a higher chance of getting it. dont eat alot of sugary foods - Lozza

3)   Zero grams. You'd get as much sugar (glucose) from the breakdown of carbohydrates as you need without supplementing it with sugar. - micksmixxx

4)   While diabetes is probably hereditary, if you don't have it, you may or may not develop it later in life. Go to your doctor's office, have them do a blood test on you, and if your glucose (blood sugar levels) are within normal range, you are not diabetic. While it is a good practice to limit your sugar intake and lay off processed and junk foods, if you're not diabetic, you need not worry that much about it. If you have a sweet tooth, you might consider eating sugar-free candy, eating sugar-free desserts with artificial sweeteners, chewing sugarless gum, just for starters. Hope this helps. - shell27

5)   I'm diabetic and I think to just do all foods in moderation. Watch out for any carbs, diabetics have to watch all carbs, not just sugar. Even as a diabetic on insulin, I eat a little sugar here and there. Just watch your carbs, eat fruits and veggies, don't eat too much fast food. I think fast food is the big problem, that and prepared foods. - logicalwon23

Question 4
If I go and get a flu shot will that be for the swine flu also?...

Answers
1)   You need a separate shot for the swine flu and the seasonal flu. I don't think the swine flu vaccine is available everywhere yet, but seasonal flu shots are. - Ashera

2)   I suggest you don't take any vaccine. You wouldn't want to be injected with fluoride, mercury, formaldehyde, squaline, live virus, contaminated animal embryos, and various toxic metals would you.

I'm serious you'll have more chance dying getting the shot than the actual swine flu or regular flu that you can take care of with some fluids, rest, some medicine, and maybe a trip to the doctor. - Virus

3)   No, the regular flu shot will not work for the swine flu. It is a completely different strain of flu and the vaccine is still in the process of being tested. I've heard they're saying the regular flu will be one shot and the swine flu vaccine will need to be given in two doses to be effective. meaning 3 shots total for both flus. I don't think it'll be ready until october sometime - susieQ

4)   Virus is talking non-sense. Get the seasonal flu shot and the AH1N1 (swine flu) shot when it becomes available. - angrydoc

5)   Coming from a healthcare professional...don't listen to Virus.

per the CDC website....

Will the seasonal flu vaccine also protect against the 2009 H1N1 flu?

The seasonal flu vaccine is not expected to protect against the 2009 H1N1 flu.

Can the seasonal vaccine and the 2009 H1N1 vaccine be given at the same time?

It is anticipated that seasonal flu and 2009 H1N1 vaccines may be administered on the same day. However, we expect the seasonal vaccine to be available earlier than the H1N1 vaccine. The usual seasonal influenza viruses are still expected to cause illness this fall and winter. Individuals are encouraged to get their seasonal flu vaccine as soon as it is available.

The swine flu shot was actually approved by the FDA today. FDA licensure means that the government has certified the vaccine is made properly and meets specific manufacturing and quality standards - sondao27

Question 5
Why did my doctor order a ultrasound of my heart?...  A few weeks ago I had a EKG and the doctor never went over my results. Then out of nowhere I got a call saying I needed to get a ultrasound of my heart, and a stress test. And, they still wouldn't tell me why. I am 24, fit, and have never had any health problems before. Why would he order these things?

Answers
1)   First, know that you have the right to know these things. If your doctor refuses to tell you these things, he can be sued for medical malpractice. Honestly, it could be any number of things, but my best guess is that he's looking for a heart murmur or defect. But ask - because you have the legal right to know. - Cassiopeia Moonstone

2)   Probably and more likely due to medical malpractice. If he doesn't order all the tests some trial lawyer will have ammunition to sue him or her if it's a female Doctor. This is a hugh problem in our society. - Irish

3)   You should call your doctor and ask. They have to give you that information.

Chances are he's checking for a heart murmur. Why did you initially go in to see the doctor? Were you having chest pains? Shortness of breath? A funny skipping feeling in your heart? All are signs of a murmur. - quantumnutmeg
