I AM BEING TREATED FOR LIVER ABCESSES. TAKING ANTIBIOTICS BY IV AND 2 DRAINS. FEET SWELLI?

Question 1
I AM BEING TREATED FOR LIVER ABCESSES. TAKING ANTIBIOTICS BY IV AND 2 DRAINS. FEET SWELLI?...  I,M TOLD MY LEGS AND FEET SWELLING ARE RELATED TI THE LIVER PROBLEM. FEET ARE SENSITIVE AND HARD TO WALK ON-I NEED A WALKER AND CANNOT WALK FAR. WHAT IS THE TYPICAL CURE TIME AND CAN I EXPECT FULL RECOVERY TO MY PREVIOUS ACTIVE LIFE STYLE.

Answers
1)   Only your doctor can give you an idea as to whether you can achieve a full recovery. Any problem with your liver and become a lifetime problem - that is why you need frequent follow-up visits. Sitting too long in one place can cause the foot swelling as can excess fluid in your body. Your doctor needs to manage this carefully and no advice found on here would take the place of your doctor. - J B

2)   your dr. is the best person to answer your questions.he will know the outcome better that people who do not know your case history...hope you get well soon.... - Linda

3)   usually the complication of liver abscess is edema of legs which is happening to you now.the best thing you do finished your treatment and bed rest so that you can regain your energy again.don't worry after the treatment it will return to normal. - Maya

Question 2
wondering if i have eczema? help!?...  I have really bad dry skin under my eyes it made the skin puffy, itchy and very sensitive. I tried using simple moisturiser didn't really help much a friend said it looked like it could be eczema so he recommended oilatum which is for babies but its what he got recommended for eczema on his hands from a doctor. It did improve the skin abit but i've been using it a few days now and i havn't seen much difference my mum gave me antiseptic cream which has help too but i was wondering from the syptoms do i have it? and if so can you recommend something that will take it away?

Answers
1)   eczema is generally confined to the extremeties, arms and legs or feet and hands. - ez80227

2)   yes my son had the same thing! i think you should go to the doctor - baby doll

3)   It sounds like you do. My brother has it.
Some cream that he uses is called QV. You can get it from the chemist. You rub it on to the area and it makes the redness and puffy less go down.
You can also go to your doctor (GP) and he can subscribe some other creams to use. My brother uses a cream he got from the doctors but you will have to talk to the doctor because they might have different type of stuff for different people and conditions of it.
If the eczema spreads you should also see your doctor.

Hope it goes down abit for you! Good luck :) - DownUnder Chick

Question 3
Is this really genital warts?...  Hi, I just noticed a small (about the size of the lead tip on a pencil) bump on my skin down near my genitals. It looks like it could be a whitehead pimple and its just one of them. No clusters or others located. It isn't on my vagina, but it is on the skin between my thigh and my vagina (not on the vagina, but just on my regular skin). It feels hard. Could this just be an ingrown hair or pimple? I was told this could be a genital wart. But then I was told it couldn't be because its not located on my genitals and you can't get genital warts if they aren't on your genitals. Could somebody clear this up for me? This way I can go to a doctor straight away and ask to get tested for that specific STD. Thank you!

Answers
1)   It is probably just a small cyst. If it were an ingrown hair or whitehead you could pinch it out. - mlk_maid

2)   There are Bartholin's gland cysts which would be on the inside of your labia; folliculitis (infected hairs) could also cause this. You can go to WebMd.com and type in both of these words and read up on each condition and see if your symptoms match and the treatments recommended there. Neither of these is an STD and needs no testing. It could also be just a pimple or ingrown hair. - J B

Question 4
My great dane has lumps all over his skin that just appeared today?...  They range from dime size to quarter size, they're on his back, stomach, neck and legs. They are raised but do not feel very hard. Please help?

Answers
1)   hell be ok and plus all dogs go to heaven ! - Silly

2)   did he get into anything, eat anything unusual, or roll in anything? What color are the lumps? Have you been anywhere unusual (such as a pond or lake or something)?
If they do not fade/resolve soon, the best thing to do will be to take him to the vet as soon as you can. If you see any signs of him getting worse (not eating or drinking, difficulty settling down, difficulty in breathing, scratching a lot, acting differently, etc.) take him to the vet asap!
Good luck! I hope he is ok! - Anama

Question 5
does salicylic acid wart remover work on zits?...  idk, by brother has some warts and I saw this salicylic acid stuff lying around and was like "hmm...zits??"

Answers
1)   it will burn your skin, they usually say on the bottle not to use it on your face or delicate areas. Its too strong for acne - llama

2)   Salicylic acid removes warts by killing the skin that makes up the wart. This is definitely NOT what you want for your acne, especially if it's on your face! It would kill the skin on the surface, but might not even go deep enough to kill the bacteria in the pore that are causing the actual zit - and if it did get deep enough, it would do a lot more damage by killing the skin that deep, too! You would lose the zit, but have a big patch of dead skin that would look a lot worse and have a much greater chance of leaving a scar.

Go to your local pharmacy and get something that's specifically made to combat acne instead. A facewash with salicylic acid contains a much weaker concentration of the acid, which will help to remove the skin that is already dead (and threatening to clog your pores) without killing the skin that's still alive like the wart remover would. Ointments containing benzoyl peroxide then help to kill the bacteria that cause the actual zits, but be careful because it can bleach any fabric it touches, and even your hair. - Jake
