Question 2
I have a surgical scar on my face I have been using bil oil since august 15 and it is still quite red?...  Do you know any other creams or oils out there that are sold in the UK that will help my scar. I am 14 years old.

Answers
1)   This is not the answer you want to hear, but the only thing you can do is give it time. And I mean months, if not years.
Over time it will fade.
I'm sure you wanted a quick fix, but they don't exist. You're better off just coming to terms with it. But it will fade eventually. Just not quickly. - durulz2000

2)   rose hip oil is really good- or any oils that fade stretch marks for pregnant women (they are a type of scar too)

I had a nasty scar on my face from a motorbike accident about 11 years ago- it was red for about 12-18 months before it started to go down.

Due to shaving it took a lot longer to fade but now it is a very light colour and is nowhere near as noticeable as it was before (most photos you can't even see it now)

I used to hate it but then I got used to it, and I've decided it gives my face a lot of character now.

Try not to worry too much, it will go down in time, and you won't be so conscious of it- I promise - billy

3)   Hey hun! when I was a bit younger than you I was attacked by a dog (for no reason what so ever) it tore up my face pretty bad needing surgury! they were VERY deep 2 of which were to the bone I could letterally touch it!

i am now 21 and you can barely see any scars at all! they have faded very very well! I havent used bio oil or anything like that on my face! (cant afford it) but my point being is it might be prominant now but give it time and it will defianty fade! I know its not nice knowing its there but there isnt much you can do except wait it out! and avoid make up would be another tip it may irratate your skin! - welsh girl

Question 3
I have a boil and went to the doctor, but... He didn't drain it.?...  Is that normal? I have read many things about them and almost every thing says that they need to be drained. When I went all he did was look at it and give me an antibiotic and an antibacterial salve. It hurts so bad I can't even walk well. What can I do for the pain and to help it relieve itself sooner?

Answers
1)   the only thing you can do really is apply a hot moist compress to it every couple of hours.

be glad he didnt drain it. you cant imagine how bad that hurts. childbirth is like having a splinter out in comparison.

also, take all of your antibiotic as you dont want the infection becoming resistant.

do NOT try to drain it yourself. doing so can drive the infection deeper into your skin, making it worse.

EDIT: i almost forgot!! call you MD back and ask if he/she can phone in an order for silver sulfadiazine into the pharmacy. its a topical cream that is generally prescribed for burns, but in my opinion it is 500 times better treatment than oral antibiotics for boils. - An-Atomi

2)   Perhaps he was hoping the antibiotic helped or he wanted it in your blood stream before draining it.
Try some very warm (almost hot) clean compresses, around the clock.
Call them back if you are not any better and feel worse. - kelly e

Question 5
What is a stroke? Is it deadly to an 80 year oldwoman?...  My grandmother had a stroke. My dad wont tell us how she is doing. but all i really know is that she has had like double eye sight since the stroke. My grandfather took her from the rehab center yesterday and now he is really streesssed and it is tough for him. and my dad told my mom that my grandmother almost fell but thats kind of erellevant. my grandmother also has heart problems, diebetes and many other health issues. Is it liely that my grandmother will live till this june or even christmas? I am really scared of her dying! Can someone please help. PLease please please please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answers
1)   A stroke is basically when you get a blood clot stuck in a blood vessel in your brain. It temporarily cuts off the oxygen supply to some part of your brain, and so can be fatal to just about anyone. If you do survive a stroke, there can still be long-term repercussions, such as memory loss, loss of motor function, etc.

However, from your description, it sounds like she survived the stroke and is rehabilitating from the incident. If that's the case, she probably won't die from the stroke at this point. You shouldn't worry about her, it sounds like she'll be alright. - Quantum Cop

2)   Strokes are blood clots, OR bleeds in the brain....causing damage or death of brain tissue. The extent of the damage determines the outcome. The other health issues issues can play a part in this as well. They "may" have been the underlying cause of the stroke and "could" place her at risk for another stroke.

It sounds like she is recovering and that is good.

The ultimate truth is, we can not predict how long we will be alive. No one on here can tell you she will be fine and live or not. It sounds like you love your grandmother...the best thing is to make sure what ever time she has left, is the best. - Mikey
