Anti depressants question?

Question 1
Anti depressants question?...  I was put on Zoloft for my depression and it made it worse. Can you tell me the reason why that happened?
Marijuana doesn't agree with me, I'm to paranoid.

Answers
1)   Smoke marijuana for depression. No side-effects, great for sleep and mood. I'm not joking. - Benjamin K

2)   I went through a depressed state once and it took my doctor several times to try and find an anti-depressants that worked well for me. It all depends on your body's chemical balance. - BrandyD

3)   Every antidepressant isn't for every person. Tell your doctor. There are other meds to take that shouldn't bother you and actually help you. - TaraBear

4)   Every single body's chemistry is different and if you have been on this medication for longer than 3 weeks with unhappy results you should go back to your doctor and demand another medication. My mother is on Zoloft and it worked for her the second day. Some medications react differently with different people. My mother went through 3 different kinds of medication before she found the right one for her. If you are feeling suicidal you need to call 911 as soon as possible and inform the emergency room doctor that your medication is making you feel worse. Either way you should call your primary physician and inform him/her of your situation. - Lindsay B

5)   take it..you will get better..today i was on the verge of going mad or diening i donno i took them now i feel a bit better ..it was too horrible i have nobody noone even asks me how i am .nobody cares - Lily

6)   The effects of antidepressants are not entirely predictable because everyone reacts differently. Its pretty common for people to try out 2-3 different types of antidepressants before finding one that works well and has tolerable or no side effects. Most of the time, you need to give the drugs about 3 weeks to see how well they work. Some of these drugs are know to have the opposite effect in the first few weeks.

If you have given this at least 3 weeks or if the present effects are unacceptable, its time to switch to another drug. Call your doc's office and ask to be switched to an antidepresant that has a different mode of action than Zoloft. Most people do well with Wellbutrin or Prozac, but its still trial and error even with these. Prozac tends to make people sleepy, while Wellbutrin sometimes makes people constipated. - formerly_bob

Question 3
Social Security Question??? My 10 yr old son is a type 1 diabetic is he eligible ?...  and I would like to recieve s.s benefits for him for help with special foods, supplies, and babysitters for him, I have applied in the past but was denied due to the fact that he is functioning well, no hospital stays, he is an athlete and he eats well and he has never been hospitalized for his diabetes(execpt when we found out) and he has had it for 5yrs I was told that I should appeal and get a lawyer will this help ? Is he considered disabled, he is considered under the disability act correct ...All advice is helpful

Answers
1)   no offense, but if he is "functioning well" and is "an athlete" i would hope that he would not qualify for disability benefits. sheesh - pisceslissa

2)   My son received help through what is called the "Medicaid loophole." It was for behavioral services we could have never afforded on our own, even tho dh & I were both working. I had to apply through the county SS office (tho technically I don't believe we received SS). We were assigned a medical doctor (even tho we didn't need one and never went to him as we had insurance and our own doctor--it's just standard operating procedure). It is a PITA big time but with help through his school social worker we were finally able to receive the help of a behavioral team. Talk to your SS office about the 'loophole" (an unfortunate choice of words but that's what they call it). If they're no help (and believe me, ours wasn't) I would try & contact the ADA (American Diabetes Assoc.) and see if anyone there can help. Go through the school social worker if you have to (even tho it's a med problem she/he should know how to begin to fill out the paperwork for this and perhaps point you in the right direction).
I would try all this first 'cuz the lawyer is EXPENSIVE!

Good luck. - cyranae

3)   are you serious? A medical conditon which can be managed, whose sufferers can lead normal lives within limits, and whose management is totally within the means of a "normally" intelligent person, and you want him disabled?

Tell you what: have a brain-damaged, bedridden, nonverbal, incontinent, blind kid , and we'll talk disability benefits. Until then, get a job and support your child and thank god he's healthy. - slammamama

Question 4
Time is passing really slow for me?...  I'm recovering from food poisoning at the moment, it was really bad yesterday, one of the worst things I've ever experienced.

But now it feels like a minute is 5 minutes, and when I go to sleep, I wake up after feeling like I've been asleep for hours and only 10 minutes have passed..

Could this have something to do with the food poisoning? What do you think?

Answers
1)   time is constant never faster or slower - bigtdotcom

2)   I believe you are just in a slightly depressed/tired state and as a result time seems to be passing very slowly. Like the saying time flies when your having fun, when you get bored/tired/etc. it seems slower even though its the same. Its just you recovering from the food poisoning and have a lethargic state. - Sun

3)   You probably have been accidentally thrown into an inverse-reverse quasi magnetic proton quantified parallaxicating time warp !!

It happens in some instances of food poisoning ........ - muggs_mcgurk

Question 5
is it herpes or rugburn?...  i have this unexplained red area in my fro i want to know if i should be worried

Answers
1)   probably not herpes. - ★stargirl★

2)   Definitely herpes. - Emily

3)   Herpes is like little boils that are white, hard and kinda like like cauliflowers. It also burns when you pee or if you touch it.
So it sounds like rugburn. However, if you do have herpes - or get it in the future (I hope you dont!) get it checked out straight away because the medication works best when you take it at the first signs. - charlene h
