7)   I would be very supportive and asked if I could help in any way. I think that friends are very important in maintaining a quality of life for a person with HIV, esp. if family is unwilling to be involved. Supportive measures would include transportation, housing, helping in coping with the illness, help with medications, assistance in acquiring disability payments if applicable, emotional support and most of all being there when needed.

I feel a person with HIV can do so well with supportive measure in place as this has become a chronic illness with all the medications that are available. Love and support and being nonjudgmental are the best medicines available too. - syl c.

And read up on HIV yourself so you can be informed on what is and what is not risky behavior. Of course you shouldn't have sex with them or share needles.

Aside from that, just still be their friend and keep everything the same. If their arm's gushing with blood, bandage it. If they need CPR, give it. Don't let paranoia get in the way of your friendship. - Richard

my mom has had chronic kidney failure for 10 years and now she has fluid in her lungs. is she going to die?...  im afraid that my mom isnt telling me everything when it comes to her kidney failure. she seems to be getting sicker every week and now she has fluid in her lungs and its hard for her to breath. she is always in pain and tired. she has been on meds the whole time with no transplant. please tell me what is happening to her.

5)   First, off i'm really sorry for your mothers condition. Fluid in the lungs from what I have heard is pretty bad, I would think she needs to be in the hospital for monitoring. I'm sure the fluid in the lungs is treatable, but chronic kidney failure never goes away, she just needs to take her meds and never miss a beat, and possible kidney transplant. Which you would be a possible doner for depending on your age, since you have half your mothers DNA.

Certainly it is a worrisome development. Anything that effects the body's ability to get oxygen into blood is not a good thing. It could be a worsening of her condition or a complication from a particular kind of diuretic (less likely). It could be heart failure (left-sided).

headlice in pubic hair?...  i had headlice and treated it. later that day i found one in my pubic hair (NOT CRABS it was a head louse that somehow got stuck in my underwear, it dropped straight out when i found it)
would it have laid eggs?

1)   It wouldn't take much long for them to lay eggs but 1 you should have really short pubic hair. 2. Take a shower DAILY. I would suggest twice a day if you can. and 3. Do not worry a lot about it. - tra'lala

My life is ruined...Do I have HIV or not? :(?...  My Internal Medicine Dr referred me to a hematologist because my blood levels were weird and some blood testing was done because my white blood count was a lil low and the first round the screening test came back positive they called me and i freaked like any normal person(Heart was racing like a MOTHER!). They told me to come back and take more test for HIV1 HIV2 everything. Got the results again and they told me the screening test for HIV is positive but the Western Blot is negative?! What is going on?!!...i feel like my life is over...and i cant have HIV because i can barley swallow pills how will I be able to have to take meds for the rest of my life?! Please some1 help :(

1)   Your health professionals are the ones to answer this question for you.

HIV screening shouldn't be carried out without psychological referral either, especially if there is some confusion over the results or a positive result.

I suggest you go back to your health professional and discuss your concerns with him/her, find out exactly what the results mean and how you go forward with any treatment. - Sally

2)   You have HIV but you have not developed AIDS yet. You have many years left to live. But in the years you have left... please tell folks you know that using condoms is no joke. Just because someone says they are clean or looks clean, even if they claim to be a virgin.. take no chances. Sorry dude. You will learn to swallow pills. There are less to take now than there used to be. You could live ten yrs or more. By the time ten yrs passes they will have even better treatments, perhaps even a cure. 3)   First off, im terribly sorry (of course, IF it is even positive) listen i have the exact same problem with the swallowing pills thing and it sometimes effects my life, but the best thing to do is always think positive and remember that your not alone. There are so many others going through it and you can get through it. You do not want to be rational with any of your decisions. My friend's friend almost commited suicide due to the fact she has AIDs, but ill pray for you. I know its gonna be tough but first lets just hope that you dont have it. How do you cure a yest infection?...  I have a yest infection. I have been using monistat but it isnt really working. I have also been using vagisil wips to help with the intching. My swelling has only gone down a little and it still itches really bad. I dont wanna have to go to the doctor. I was wondering if there is something els i could do to make this go away faster and make it not itch as bad. My boyfriend suggested a baking soda bath but i dont know if i should do that or not...Im just looking for a little bit of help.

3)   I have a yeast infection right now too, it doesnt itch often just in the mornings. I bought the vagasil wipes, and they work okay for that moment. Everytime i feel itchy i jus wash myself (sittin on the toilet) with the little cup thingys and i feel better. Just keep doing that and you will feel better.
