Question 2
Can you get oral herpes from food?...  Say someone touches their cold sore, and then passes a slice of pizza to somebody, can they get oal herpes by eating the pizza?

Answers
1)   Very rarely would that happen. You have to have more contact with the cold sore, for example if you shared chapstick. The situation you described sounds very doubtful (to contract oral herpes). - blue

2)   ummm...pizza sounds good right now. Oh, no i dont think you can get herpes from food. The virus lives shortly in air, so no. - JuliaJones

3)   No you're not likely to get oral herpes that way.
You would be more likely to get oral herpes if you kissed the person who has cold sores while they had an out break. Herpes is passed when you have skin to skin contact (like kissing). - LINDSEY S

Question 3
what is hyperkalemia?...

2)   Let me google that for you.

Oooh Wikipedia. There's a surprise!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperkalemia - Suzie

3)   Hyperkalemia is an elevated blood level of the electrolyte potassium. Extreme hyperkalemia is a medical emergency due to the risk of potentially fatal abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmia).
Symptoms are fairly nonspecific and generally include malaise, palpitations and muscle weakness; mild hyperventilation may indicate a compensatory response to metabolic acidosis, which is one of the possible causes of hyperkalemia. Often, however, the problem is detected during screening blood tests for a medical disorder, or it only comes to medical attention after complications have developed, such as cardiac arrhythmia or sudden death.

During the medical history taking, a physician will dwell on kidney disease and medication use (see below), as these are the main causes. The combination of abdominal pain, hypoglycemia and hyperpigmentation, often in the context of a history of other autoimmune disorders, may be signs of Addison's disease, itself a medical emergency.

In order to gather enough information for diagnosis, the measurement of potassium needs to be repeated, as the elevation can be due to hemolysis in the first sample. The normal serum level of potassium is 3.5 to 5 mEq/L. Generally, blood tests for renal function (creatinine, blood urea nitrogen), glucose and occasionally creatine kinase and cortisol will be performed. Calculating the trans-tubular potassium gradient can sometimes help in distinguishing the cause of the hyperkalemia.

In many cases, renal ultrasound will be performed, since hyperkalemia is highly suggestive of renal failure.

Also, electrocardiography (EKG/ECG) may be performed to determine if there is a significant risk of cardiac arrhythmias (see ECG/EKG Findings, below). - Nishant

Question 4
Bumpy lumpy nose help?...  Okay, I have a bump on my nose. It does not make me look ugly or anything....I just HATE IT.

Any ideas of how to get rid of it?

Answers
1)   I am 47 and still have one. My sister didn't like hers and had a nose job. If that's what you are talking about, other than a nose job, you just have to learn to accept it. We are all unique for a reason. - carboluver

2)   Hmm, there's no other way besides to get a nose job. Sorry... - Tiffanie

Question 5
CANCER!!! now what!!!?...  I just found out that i have a brain tumor. I have 6 months to live. What should I do? I want to go out in style.

Answers
1)   You live your life to the fullest and do all the things you want to do. I wish you the best. God bless you. - Sandy K

2)   Really? And what with your wife expecting your baby and you contemplating cheating on her with her sister, too. How complicated.

No doctor would give such an accurate prediction of a cancer patient's life expectancy - they know how unpredictable cancer is. The words 'You have six months to live' are heard in bad soap operas, not in cancer hospitals.

What should you do? Apart from not lying, you mean?

I'm going to answer that by copying an answer to a similar question, posted by a much missed contributor to this board who really was dying from cancer. Read it and be ashamed of yourself:

''About the only thing you can decide in advance is to not waste your precious time on the internet answering dumb questions.

Why not decide in advance? - because you can't -

You do not have a clue what happens in the human mind when the Dr tells you that treatments are no longer helping and that your tumor will soon kill you.

You don't plan big parties.

You don't go on round the world trips with Jack Nicholson.

You wonder how much longer the pain pills will actually help with your pain.

You might wonder how much longer you will be able to take a piss by yourself.

You might wonder how long before a bowel blockage means you can no longer eat.

You might wonder if your throat will ever heal enough from the radiation for you to be able to taste your food again before you die.

You might wonder how everyone else can go on with their life like nothing is happening while you are dying a little more each day.

and so on.''
