my son has 103.1 temp should i take him to the er?

Question 1
my son has 103.1 temp should i take him to the er?...

Answers
1)   yes you should, that is a really bad one. He might have swine flu. IT would be best if you take him to ER. - Renat

2)   It depends on how old he is. If he's not too young (5 or younger), I would say that taking him to the ER would be a little extreme. I just recommend bed rest and fluids and he will probably get better. If this temperature lasts for longer than about 2 days, you could take him to the ER. For now, I would just take him to the doctor. I think that taking him to the ER now would be extreme, because I get temperatures around that area sometimes when I have the flu or something else and I just stay in bed all day and possibly a few days afterward. IF IT'S 104, TAKE HIM TO THE ER. - Jaime

3)   wait for 104 - don w

4)   ummm Yes! Thats a pretty high fever ... - Mia R

5)   Yes that is a very high fever, you should take him now. I believe anything above 104 can cause brain damage. - John

6)   nah hes all good - Mike W

7)   duh! - ????????????????????????????????

8)   yes i would take him to the hospital it could be the swine flu he needs medical attention - bethjule1990

10)   Give him a Tylenol and call the ER to see if he needs to go in. - TrueBlue

11)   How old is he? If he's over 1 year old then you might want to give him some Motrin, then a luke warm water bath and then recheck his temperature within the next hr... Call his pediatrician as well. The usually have someone on call... - Anita

12)   try to call your doctor's office or a nurse practitioner and asking their advice. Have you tried giving him a fever lowering medicine?

IF the fever does not go down for several days then you should see a doctor.

Or if your son is a baby (less than 3 months!) get to the doctor.

If he is unable to keep any liquids down (or in) and is getting dehydrated then you should take him to the doctor though.

Rest
Do not attempt to "sweat out" a fever, if your son is shivering he can have a blanket, but if he is hot try to cool him off (fan, no blanket, no ice needed) - spidermilk666

Question 2
I think my hand is infected, and I don't have health insurance.?...  I work construction, and about a week ago I accidentally blasted a nail through the palm of my hand with a nail gun. I yanked the nail out, and poured my Natural Ice on it to kill the germs. A few days ago my hand turned bright red, and got all swollen and it hurt like hell. The next day it stopped hurting and got numb. I thought it was getting better, but I woke up today, and my fingers are turning black, and I cant feel anything. What can I do to fix this?
I work for cash, and I was wasted drunk, so forget about workers comp and all that silly stuff. Also, I have several warrants out for my arrest.

7)   If you ever need medical treatment, a hospital emergency room has to treat you. They cannot legally turn anyone away. Ask the doctor for samples if he tries to give you prescriptions and if he doesn't have any ask for generic. Wal-Mart has $4.00 prescriptions, the doctor should know which ones are on their $4.00 list.

8)   You can't fix it with any home remedy. Get to an Emergency Room or risk septicemia and the amputation of your hand. Don't you have worker's comp? Aren't you covered by your employer's liability insurance?
