Our grand baby was diagnosed Fri with pneumonia. The daughter in Law took her to daycare today. I don't think?...  she is well enough to be there! If she catches the flu on top of this she can get alot worse. What can I do? I don't want to make her mad at me,yet I want to do whats right for the baby! We live over an hr away.

Why couldn't your daughter in law or your son take the day off to care for their sick child.

They are both wrong and I wouldn't want that child in day care with my kids because she just proved she isn't going to keep a sick child home unless she has no choice. She is putting all the children and staff at the day care and her sick child at risk.

5)   Personally I don't think she should have taken her either. Usually with pneumonia the doctor wants to see the baby as a follow-up, because even adults die from pneumonia. how could i got genital herpes possibly?...  i recently noticed sores on my genital area and dont really know how. i have a partner of about a year and she doesnt have them. it says its from skin to skin conact and one of our friends have contracted this virus a bit ago. so i am wondering could i have gotten it from him like if we were to shake hands or something? or if he touched an object? thanks

3)   You can't get genital herpes just by touching or shaking hands with some one that has it. That is not what they mean by skin to skin contact. Genital herpes is usually passed on by having oral sex or sexual intercourse with some one that has it. It's also not passed on through objects because it doesn't last on surfaces for long periods of time. It's not passed through blood or mosquito bites either.
Genital herpes would more likely come from having oral sex with some one that has cold sores (which are very common to have), or by having regular sex with some one that has genital herpes.
You're partner wouldn't know for sure that she has herpes unless she had an out break or was tested for herpes by her doctor. Also there doesn't always have to be an out break in order to pass herpes on. Herpes can also be very mild, to the point where it can be excused for other things. - LINDSEY S

2)   Ultimately, to determine what you are asking in a scientific cause-and-effect type relationship is highly unethical. What many people and researchers keep doing is relying on epidemiological studies. But there's a serious limitation in using such research as support for how safe the exposure to ethylmercury is that you get from the Thimerosal in vaccines. The only scientific way to determine WHEN are flu vaccines harmful in a cause-and-effect type relationship is through an experiment that most people would admit is unethical. Hence, you see officials and researchers mostly saying: "Risks are unproven," not "There are no risks," but many many people do say the latter because they are interpreting the results of epidemiological studies in an inappropriate manner.

--I think if some people have some kind of sensitivity due to a) genetics, and b) the level of mercury and other heavy metals that they have already been exposed to, then for these individuals getting an injection that contains 25 micrograms ethylmercury will increase the chances of neurotoxicity. Whether or not that causes someone who's as young as an infant to get some level of autistic spectrum disorder or psychomotor disturbance or cognitive deficit is anybody's guess. There's really no way to determine all the factors that can make one person more susceptible. Given how lethal we do know ethylmercury is (just like all organic mercury compounds) I would think it's better to be safe than sorry. Many sources (including the World Health Organization) keep trying to say that because ethylmercury has a half life of about 7 days this makes it significantly safer than methylmercury, but the truth is "safer" when it comes to mercury doesn't make too much sense. The WHO also has a vested interest in seeing that vaccines preserved with Thimerosal going to underdeveloped parts of the globe don't get pulled because of fears regarding mercury.

Regarding the above there's a video from TV that I saw with Dr. Kent Holtorf who said that it's implicated in cases with kids who have "mitochondrial dysfunction" there's a risk for autism from exposure to the ethylmercury in vaccines, but my guess is all doctors don't agree.

All I can say is: The doctors and scientists with what organization? The CDC and WHO both keep saying that the mercury in Thimerosal contained in the flu shot is "safe." But if you go to other organization, such as the Coalition For Mercury-free Drugs (CoMeD) you'll find there are doctors who take the possibility for negative effects from exposure to mercury and any links with autism or other diseases quite seriously. There's some research available at the website by Geire et al. called A REVIEW OF THIMEROSAL (MERTHIOLATE) AND ITS ETHYLMERCURY BREAKDOWN PRODUCT: SPECIFIC HISTORICAL CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING SAFETY AND EFFECTIVENESS" (2007).
